Here's what others have to say...

A great indicator

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

A good lower fly on a nymph rig, I've caught a handful of nice trout on these in red colors in early spring.

the worm

So you know that fish eat worms everywhere. I would even go so far as to say it is the standard bait amongst all fishermen. In that case why not add a bunch to your box? Works from lakes to rivers in slow and fast moving water. If you can't seem to hit the right hatch go to something that never fails.

What can be said about San Juan's that hasn't already been said. A staple among fisherman, every fly box should have a collection of these.

      Ol' reliable

When in doubt and you wanna keep the skunk off your hands drop one of these tasty morsels down deep. The fish can't resist!!! Just don't be that guy/girl doing the San Juan shuffle, seriously not cool. Bottom line is these are tasty.
