because... why tie things that small?

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Trico's are tiny summer mayflies that have prolific hatches on some western streams. On a recent trip to western wyoming, big rainbows were sipping trico spinners for hours. I tried everything from small black midge to tiny BWO spinner flies and while I got some eats i missed a lot of fish due to not having a true trico pattern. I went home determined to tie up a bunch of these... then realized, its July... im not wasting my time tying size 22 dry flies. Luckily, BC just got a shipment of these in and my tying dilemma was over. These work GREAT for summer Trico hatches and while I hate throwing anything smaller than a giant foam hopper in the summer months, sometimes you need to work those 22's
