    Great Starter Kit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I go camping at least once a month during the warm season of the year and I have found this super helpful to just keep in my pack year round. Last June it came really in handy because I forgot to bring matches and it only took us about 20 minutes with the flint & steel to get a fire going and roaring. My only disappointment is that the pack doesn't come with some sort of water proof matches, which could be really handy in emergency situations.

    A dream for pyros

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

There's not a lot to say here. The product works very well, just take a few seconds to read the instructions. As simple as it is, there is one step I missed. You have to create shavings from the little included fire starting blocks. Once you've got that down all it takes is a tiny spark and these things burn like crazy.

Really simple to use, effective, and cheap. If you don't want to carry matches, this is a great alternative, and probably a lot more effective if there are winds you have to deal with.
