    The very definition of handy.

The Ultimate Direction Handy 20 Running Bottle provides a pocket for your keys, wallet, smartphone, or some snacks while you run sidewalks and trails. The NeoMesh strap feels soft against your skin and provides tons of breathability. Power Stretch and ripstop combine to make the pocket stretchy and durable against abrasion. Ultimate Direction made the bottle out of BPA-free polyethylene and equipped it with a leakproof Kicker cap for your convenience. It features an extra wide mouth for easy filling and cleaning, and the mouth accommodates most water purifiers.

    My Go To

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hydration belts bounce, backpacks for ultra marathoners, and let's face it, vests are just plain silly. If you need to carry fluids while you're running, this Ultimate Direction running bottle is the best choice. I take mine with me anytime I'm running more than eight or ten miles, and it's always with me for longer races.

The round bottle fits really well into the palm of your hand, and the strap cinches down tight enough to keep it secure so you can stretch out your fingers and not feel like you'll drop the bottle. Because the bottle is round, it fits in your hand no matter how your holding it, and you don't have to worry about some weird ergonomic shape getting uncomfortable when you change your grip. The Kicker cap is great, it's easy to open and close with your teeth, and I've never had it leak on me mid-run. The mesh pocket is perfect for stashing your driver's license, a car key, and an energy gel.

    A couple of tips:

    * Don't refrigerate the full bottle overnight, otherwise it will be cold and uncomfortable to hold for the first few miles of your run

    * Ice cubes make a funny sloshing noise while you run; they don't impact the use of the bottle, but it can be distracting, especially to your running partner

    * If you're running in really cold temperatures (single digits or below) carry the bottle upside down to prevent the bite valve from freezing

    * Buy two bottles (one for each hand) so you can carry plain water in one, and a supplement drink in the other. I suggest having a blue mesh pocket for the water and a different color for the supplement drink
