Forget uncomfortable packs jostling as you jog or straps rubbing your shoulders raw. The Ultimate Direction Fastdraw Plus Water Bottle makes carrying your H2O—and your belongings—easy.

Ultimate Direction updated its Fastdraw Plus Water Bottle with a larger, sturdier zippered pocket so you can carry your keys, cash, ID, and energy gel with you on your run. The Fastdraw Plus still features a tension-lock hand strap so you can comfortably carry the included 20-ounce plastic water bottle in your hand.

No Drip

Even though I already have a handheld I couldn’t resist picking up the Ultimate Direction FastDraw Plus to see how it compared to my GoLite HydroClutch. It’s a sickness, I know. The UD handheld has some nice features lacking on my GoLite. The most obvious differences are the large finger loop on the cap, the unique kicker valve design and the extra wide mesh hand strap. I like having the finger loop as a convenient way of clipping the water bottle to my CamelBak using a carabiner. The additional 20 oz adds another hour of “flight time” to my scouting missions. The kicker valve is made of soft plastic that is easy on your teeth. It also prevents dripping from the valve that is common with the standard valves used on other handhelds. I like this feature the most because I always forget to push down the valve after drinking and end up loosing a lot of fluid and soaking myself in the process. I did notice that I had to suck harder than usual to get the fluid out of the bottle. That was somewhat annoying but it works better if you squeeze the bottle at the same time. The wide, mesh hand strap does a good job of keeping your hand cool and the rounded edges do not cut into your hand like some of the flat narrow straps will. The strap also has a zippered pocket large enough to hold a few gels and your car keys. The only downside for me is that it feels a little larger in circumference than my GoLite making it more difficult to get a comfortable grip. My hands are on the small side (dainty me) so this shouldn’t be an issue for someone with larger hands. Overall I give the Ultimate Direction FastDraw Plus an A-.Bottoms up!

The Standard

I absolutely love this handheld. I have used it on almost every long distance run that Ive done since I bought it last year. The kicker valve is awesome and I have had no problems with leaking. I wasnt sure if I would like running with a bottle in my hand for long distances, but after my first run with it, I was hooked. The suspension is great and it keeps the bottle very tight against my hand so I dont have to really hold it much. I found this product to be much more comfortable than the nathan hydration quickdraw, plus you get a way better bottle. The only edition to the bottle that I would like to see would be a key ring clip inside the zippered compartment. This would allow me more ease of mind so I dont have to worry about losing my key while im trying to pull my gel out. I would highly recommend this handheld over any other that I have tried.

A nuzzy off the nipple?

I used and have loved the old neoprene Fastdraw for years. Due to a very poor replacement (plastic handles) I decided to try the Plus. I love them. The kicker was a great upgrade and is easy on the teeth. It has also made for some great fodder for trail smack with many allusions of a return to the nipple. The holders are as comfortable as the old Fastdraw with the added bonus of a little storage. I typically replace them annually as the holders tend to stretch and eventually become loose. Another great product from a trusted name!

Kick Butt Water Bottle

Once I learned how to use this bottle on the go it became my best friend. It is very gentle on the teeth while trying to run cuz I'm not trying to smash a hard plastic bottle tip into my mouth. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the bottle doesn't last very long, I get like 5 sips out of it and it is magically empty. Other than that it is GREAT for short distance trail runs.

no slipping

A bottle is a bottle right. Yeah, but the holder doesn't slip off this one like other designs. That's great for when you have two in one hand and a gel in the other.

Great upgraded to a classic design

The best hand held water bottle on the market compared to a number of other brands I've tested
Top reasons:
Kicker Valve is easy hands-free and simple to use while running
Breathable nylon mesh strap wraps hand comfortably and stays tight.
New clear UD bottle design, now I can see my fluid intake and know which bottle has water or electrolytes.

I really like the bottle. I used it on my 13 mile run the other week and it worked great. I have a marathon next week and plan on using the water bottle and my source on energy.

Ultimate Direction rocks!

This mesh wrist strap and the pocket are improvements on the the older Ultimate Direction bottle that I have, but I don't prefer the new kicker valve over the older "traditional" pull-out-to-open and push-to-close top. The kicker valve doesn't seem to let as much flow and if you squeeze the bottle it can limit the air going back in to expand it. I am also concerned that the new top will be more difficult to clean when using it with sports drinks, etc., though I have not tried that yet. Overall, I am still very pleased and have been satisfied with all of the Ultimate Direction products I have tried.

love it

I've searched high and low for hydration to take with me on those hot long summer runs, and this has been the best. Very comfortable in my hand, nice little pocket to carry gels or shotblocks and the strap is adjustable, so you can make it nice and tight so you don't have to grip the bottle really tightly.

Simply the best!

This bottle is comfortable to carry, it doesn't leek, you can carry a gel and your keys too! Great to have along on long, hot summer runs.

Very comfortable

Love this bottle, very comfortable to carry. The valve takes a while to get used to.

But it's much easier on your teeth!

Almost perfect

I love this water bottle and acutally have like 4 or 5 of them. Comfortable, carries 20 oz., has a handy pack on the side (fit in keys or maybe a gel), but I didn't give it a 5 star because I was out the other day on a run and went to take a sip and the entire top came off (plastic and rubbery top). I like the bottles and will continue to buy them assuming that this was a 1 time problem

Great Bottle

The sturdy construction was my main reason to purchase this product. Many of the people I run with complain that the tops on their bottles break or leak. Not so with this one! I bought 2 and carry my gel and car key with me on the run. The only drawback is that it is hard to get water out unless you bite on the top correctly. Easy solution is just to squeeze the bottle. Problem solved.

I got two of these and I have used them on a number of trail runs and I love them! The pocket is a really great size to hold my phone and keys. Then I put some Sport Beans in the other one. Good stuff.

Great Bottle

The Ultimate Direction Fastdraw Plus is a great bottle that is very convenient on middle distance runs. I've used energy supplements in it and have not had any problem with residual taste or odor. The "kicker valve" doesn't always seem to provide enough fluid without a good bite, but this problem is very minimal.

If you squeeze the bottle while sucking the fluid comes out at a much higher flow rate.
