Description

Sounds just like you're kicked-back, listening to music or talking in a quiet room.

If you're serious about high-quality sound and noise cancellation while you ski, check out the UClear HBC120 Snow helmet communicator. This device brings the same kind of high-quality music enjoyment and quiet-room phone-chatting you get at home out onto the slopes.

  • Digital Microphone Array uses multiple DSP-based algorithms (four stages of optimization) to separate wanted audio from unwanted noise for optimal hands-free communication and HiFi-grade music
  • Unique wind-filtering technique is effective for speeds up to 238km/hr
  • Speakers slide into your helmet's ear-pad slots and provide powerful clarity even when it's noisy in the tram
  • Wireless Bluetooth voice-activated call pick-up
  • Control unit has two buttons for volume and an answer button, along with redial, 3-way calling, backtrack, and fast-forward capabilities
  • Use either the clip bracket or the metal mounting bracket (both included) to install the control unit onto your helmet
  • Use the intercom feature to talk to a friend who also has the UClear communicator in up to a 10m range
  • Rugged weather-resistant design doesn't mind nasty snowstorms, rain, or dirt
  • Speaker loudness automatically adjusts depending on noise level, but the volume can also be adjusted manually

If you don't want to mount the HBC120 controller unit to the outside of your helmet it comes with an 18" extension cord so you can put the controller unit in your pocket. Stealth!!

The blue tooth connection to phone was a snap. No issues connecting. Sound from phone was fine. Plays music fine and answers calls and I can hear caller easily. The problem is the caller cannot here me well. The voice is garbled. Not sure if playing with the mic position in the earpieces will help or not. But so far, it seems to only be good for blue tooth connection to listen to music and having a conversation on the phone is useless.

Meryl,

Bummed they aren't working for you. I've used mine a bunch and the only thing anyone has ever said to me is that it sounds like I'm on speaker phone. I've used them in some pretty windy conditions too and no one has had any problem understanding me. I wonder if you might have received a faulty piece. Try to make sure that the mics are both pointing directly at your mouth. If you're still having problems you should send them back as I think you might have received a bad unit. No one has mentioned to me that the clarity of the call was bad or that it sounded "garbled" just that it sounded like speakerphone (which is kind of is)

If installing these into a snowboard helmet, will the microphones still function properly if installed INSIDE the zippered-earpads? Or must they be attached via velcro next to your ears?

These are meant to be installed inside the zippered ear pads in any audio compatible helmet. You just have to make sure that the microphones are facing your mouth.

Took these out for a test run at Solitude today and they were awesome. There are a few things that the product description failed to mention though:
1. There's an extension cord that comes with the HBC120 so you don't have to have the bluetooth headset
attached to your helmet/goggles. You can put it in your pocket to ensure you don't lose it if you
were to crash. The extension just plugs into the speaker/microphone pucks inside your helmet.
2. The Intercom feature is really cool. Description says 10m but I tested it with my wife and as long
as we could see each other the range was definitely greater than 50m.

I've used quite a few Bluetooth devices for my ski helmet and this has been the best by far. Soo many more features than the other options and easier to use. I made a few calls while skiing just to see if the noise cancellation properties actually worked and the person I called could barely hear any background noise. I wouldn't recommend talking on the phone while skiing but if you're out on a windy day and need to make/take a call these would work great. The speakers sounded great as well.
