Change your attitude to winter with Tubbs Altitude Snowshoes. Get outside and go anywhere with one-piece aluminum frames and user friendly Bear Hug bindings. Stability and strength result from the use of a single piece of Easton aluminum while convenience and comfort wrap your feet in a binding that allows you to step in, lock down, and go. Toothy traction is always active on the rotating toe cord for sure-footed traveling up and over steep ascents and confident control on the way down. Floatation and durability combine in the Altitude's two-piece deck it enhances performance and lets you change your mind about winter.

Bottom Line: Don't hibernate this winter.

I was excited about the binding, which turns out is a major drawback for these snow shoes. Unless you have the binding set just right it really hurts your foot. Have to stop a few times and mess with them. However, once you get the binding right really an awesome shoe. Light, great control, rugged, and great for moderate climbing and long hikes.

Uncomfortable Bindings

By:

Since most Tubbs snowshoes are the same, it all comes down to the binding. The Bear Hug bindings on these snowshoes, while easy to put on and take off, are incredibly uncomfortable with anything but hard plastic boots. In order to tighten them one ends up increasing pressure across the forefoot. Particularly on descents, there is nothing to hold the toe back so one's foot slides forward and the top of the foot gets pinched by the rigid binding. I would only recommend these bindings for use on flat terrain or with rigid plastic mountaineering boots.
