You'll always fall eventually.

Troy Lee Designs' gravity-focused Sprint Shorts can't make you a snack or change the weather, but they can provide a little relief in the face of the inevitable. That's because TLD put heavy-duty 600D polyester where protection is paramount, and breathable, cooling polyester mesh where heat builds up the most.

Along with those fabrics, a two-way stretch spandex rear yoke ensures enough give for standup charging, upright pedaling, or effortless flight. For added comfort, a soft Lycra stretch inner liner separates skin from the durable panels and helps wick perspiration to the breathable zones. Two side, zipped pockets securely hold essentials and, at the waist, bonded rubber adjusters allow the perfect fit.

Great Shorts, Fit is a Little Weird

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs small
  • Height: 6'2"
    Weight: 220 lbs
    Size Purchased: 38

I got the Aaron Gwin signature edition for riding downhill and they work great for that. They are designed well and you can really move around in them, they're pretty light, and ventilate really well in hot weather. I like the cinch straps on the waist to secure them to your waist while riding also. There are two pockets on the front that fit keys well but much more than that they are a little small for (they are deep enough but are fairly tight against the shorts and your legs, but fine for keeping your car keys). The one thing I don't like is that the rise (crotch area) is very short. It's not too uncomfortable, I've gotten used to it and like them now but it is a little weird.

Short Rise

I was really excited to get these shorts for days spent riding the lift, but as soon as I tried them on for the first time I they were going back.

The sizing on the TLD Sprint shorts is really strange. I measured my waist about 5 times before placing my order just to be sure. The waist width seems to be okay for me, but the rise is really short. When I tried to wear these around my waist where I wear all my other shorts, jeans, and shorts, the bottom of the shorts (crotch area) was jammed right against my junk. Not very comfortable as a male.

I'm considering trying the 38s, but even if the rise is longer, the waist might be way to big at that point. I'm also curious if I got a defective pair, but not sure if it's worth checking just to be disappointed and having to deal with another return.

I have a pair of Fox Attack Ultra shorts in a size 34 that fit well, so I ended up ordering a pair of Fox Rampage DH shorts in a size 34 hoping that fit similarly. Might be need to shy away from TLD at least for bottoms.

If they do fit you the rest of the short is awesome. Great materials, features, and construction as you would expect from TLD. Just not the right fit for me.

I ran into the same problem...a very jammed up crotch, which nobody loves, especially when riding bikes. I tried to size up, and the crotch felt a little better but still tight, and the waist was indeed huge. Seems like a sizing issue with the cut that Troy Lee chose on these shorts. I traded these for a pair of the Ruckus shorts.
