Description

Get riding.

The Troy Lee Women’s Skyline Shorts are designed for women who ride. While this may not be much a descriptor on first read, we’ve found that the majority of women’s shorts out there simply aren’t up to the rigors that badass ladies can put them through. The Skyline is a stretchy, breathable polyester/spandex blend, which allows you to move, pedal, and hike, if necessary, all while wicking moisture away from your skin.

The shorts close with a double snap, and include adjustable waist tabs to ensure they stay in place, every ride. You can store maps, snacks, or keys in the secure, zippered pockets, as well.

  • Adjustable waist tabs
  • Stretch fabric for freedom of movement
  • 11-inch inseam isn’t freeride-long, but it will cover the tops of kneepads

HAVE NO FEAR! ... These Fit!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 8"
    Weight: 160 lbs
    Size Purchased: XL

I wish there were better words than 'perfect', 'wonderful', 'glorious', 'fabulous', 'incredible' or 'amazing' that I could use to describe these shorts, because there simply are no words that do them justice.

I've been riding bikes for almost 10 years now and the entire time, I've struggled to find shorts that fit my size six torso while not strangling my size ten/twelve butt and thighs -- a tiny girl I am not. I have been sent shorts from many different companies to test and review and praise, but all of them have fallen short (har har) at one point or another. The ones that I loved the color of turned out to be too tight in the thighs with a gaping waist. The quick-drying ones with perfect venting were short enough that I was shy about riding in them, and the longer shorts that covered my pads were HUGE and heavy... Needless to say, there have been countless shorts that solved few of the bike attire problems that women face.

The TLD Skyline shorts solves them all. Yes, you read that correctly: EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Great color? Check. Fly functionality? Check. Venting? Check. Pockets? Check, check and triple check. Length? Perfect for pedaling AND riding the lifts with pads on... So. Another check.

The closure at the waist is a double snap and velcro closure (no zippers that break!) with a rear pocket on the waist that's taped and sealed, large enough for a small wallet or phone (the iPhone 5s fits perfectly while the 6 is a tight fit without a case). There's another zip pocket on the left thigh just below the hip that's also taped and sealed, and the third pocket is on the right thigh, just above the knee. OH, POCKETS! How do I love thee?! My biggest beef with women's gear it's that it's usually shockingly high-priced and low-tech, but these shorts? Oh no, my demanding lady friends... THESE are not. These are the answer to my storage questions, my quick-dry demands, my aesthetic needs and, most of all, the fit.

I bought mine quite a bit larger than I probably should have, but I like them a bit baggier; I'm 5'8" and 160 (size six torso and size 10 thighs) and probably should wear a large, but the XL is a bit looser and baggier on me. These fit my thighs well but don't really seem to gape at all; at points during my weekend of pedaling and lift-accessed DH, I forgot I'm supposed to worry about my shorts. ;) So... The perfect shorts.

Get these. I promise you won't regret it!

Best Bike Shorts...Ever

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 5"
    Weight: 140 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

These bike shorts are seriously the best. I have tried several other short brands but these specific ones are still my favorite. Super thin, but durable. I love using these in the dead of summer when its super hot out. Ultra flowy and soft. You could do yoga in these things... they are so stretch and comfortable!

Awesome, Light Weight Short

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 120 lbs
    Size Purchased: small

What an amazing short! Great fit, stretchy & moves with my body. I've worn these on 5 mile down hill rides and on 30 mile cross country rides. They don't rub and breath really well. I am 5'4 and 120 pounds and got a size small. I have a muscular/average frame and typically wear a size 2 or 4 pants size. I can even wear my 13 panel chamois compression shorts underneath for longer rides. I would recommend these to any gals looking for a comfy/amazing short for mountain biking. Not to mention, the colors are rad!

My lady is pleased!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these for a gift for my lady and she absolutly loves these shorts. She is hooked on all the TLD stuff and raves about them.

Is there a dang liner on these puppies?

Tight in the bootay

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 132 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

The material is great and the waist felt comfy, if not a little too big. I'm 5'6", 130-135 lbs, but the butt looked really tight with chamois underneath especially. The material is really stretchy so it felt okay but I didn't like the way the shorts looked stretched in that area.

TLD Skyline Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 7"
    Weight: 125 lbs
    Size Purchased: small

LOVE these! Long enough to hit your kneepads without a goofy gap, but not gangsta long. Super lightweight and breathable too...definitely a must in the dog days of summer. I tend to overheat in general, so sweaty clammy shorts are just not fun (had this issue with the Yeti Norrie short...not cool). Fits true to size I believe...the waist is maybe a tad big, but nothing too serious and not enough to want to size down. And I LOVE the Speeda Yellow!!! I've got tons of comments on them!

Love these shorts, super stretchy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 7"
    Weight: 135 lbs
    Size Purchased: medium

These shorts are a great fabric. They stretch well and are comfortable and dry incredibly fast. Sizing I would say is pretty true, although the waist fits big. I am small waist, narrow hips but large in butt and thighs and the small was just a bit small in the waist, but went to medium and it is quite a bit bigger, seemed a big jump in sizing. However the fit overall is great even with a bit of room in the waist.

Love these shorts, super stretchy

JUST LOVE THEM

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 8"
    Weight: 138 lbs
    Size Purchased: medium

They look cool, they are really comfortable and stretchable. You can easily move, even do some karate kicks. The fit is perfect and because there's an elastic on the top back of the shorts, you can gain a bit a weight without worrying about your $75 shorts. My only issue with them, is that at my first used, the sewing on the velcro broke, so i will have to sew it. It's not a big deal, but a bit frustrating for something new. Still really love them.

Love Them!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 2"
    Weight: 125 lbs
    Size Purchased: LARGE (7/8)

These are great. I'm hippy, small waisted, biggish bum …curvy is the word! and they stretch just fine to fit almost everywhere ..slightly loose at the waist but no biggie at all. I am usually a size medium (7/8) but the large fit which are listed as size 7/8 so, go by the number size not the letter size to determine fit. At my 'hippiest' point the shorts stretch perfectly to velcro closed as should and they feel comfortable all around (don't worry if you are slightly wider than dimensions as it stretches and closes fine). It's hard to imagine these shorts not being comfortable even if they were too small as they are that stretchy! Most comfortable you will find. They are very light weight ..and personally I love the length ..not too short or long ..just right for where knee pads start with no worries re. the shorts having to go 'over' the knee pads too much …pretty perfect. THere is a pocket at the back at the waist you can fit your keys in ..or money (small things) and a small pocket front right that is thin with a zipper close and not bulky at all (hardly notice it which is awesome) ..that pocket is bigger for bigger things (fist size). Bascially BUY THESE and remember to size up or go by the # size not letter size. PS Amazon offers free shipping back if does not fit!

Love these. I'm a "curvy" girl and I know its hard to find riding shorts that are cute and comfortable. These are the best! Perfect amount of stretch to allow freedom of movement and look flattering.

Awesomeness

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 149 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

I absolutely love these shorts! I don't like to ride in just spandex, and I don't wear short shorts. These are perfect! These are my go to riding shorts. I am always on the fence between a medium and a large, so I bought a large since I would be wearing a chamois underneath, wish I had gone with a medium though. My husband has the same shorts in men's, and his has side tabs to adjust the size, wish the women's did. These are sturdy durable shorts that look and for great! I want them in every color and will be ordering more!

Are these a tighter trail short or a lose fitting one? I'm having trouble deciding on either a medium or a large. I've gotten many a bike pant that said it was "lose fitting" but ended up being tight and restricting! Im 5,7 and 140 if that helps!

Responded on

Hey Hannah,
I have althetic legs and they are loose fitting on me. I like a more downhill look as well and I dont want anything tight. I went with a Medium and they are not to tight at all, they are perfect. And since they have stretch to them I dont feel like they squeeze my waste at all.
If this helps you with fit... I fluxuate between 135-140 lbs and Im 5'4 . I like my things baggy and I almost went with Large but im very satisfied with the Medium

Comfy, great fit and style

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The stretchy material and multiple panels make this short EXTREMELY comfortable! The stretch is unreal for long or short days on the bike. Length is perfect as well. I'm 5'5, 135 and wear a medium.

The best pair I own!!!

Absolutely love these shorts. I love them so much I couldn't chose in color and I purchased all three colors available haha! I was a bit nervous about the "Speeda Yellow" But they are freaking awesome!! The coral color looks pink on the site but they are definitely a hot coral color :)
These have enough stretch in them that they are comfy on the climb up as well as the ride down. I like how the back of each leg has a mesh V shape. They also have a little pocket in the back I can put my ID, car key and even some cash for that after bike beer!

The legs are wide enough to fit my knee pads and a little more room for comfort overall. I wouldn't say they are tight or super baggy. They are just... Perfect.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND these to any mountain bikers

do you wear a chamois with these?

Responded on

Hi Kylie, Yes I do. I currently wear the Yeti Cycles Ruby Liner. Which I have mixed feelings about but at the end of the day it saves my bum!

But these shorts do not come with a Chamois included. I rarely see girls shorts that do.

Let me know if you have any more questions! :D

Responded on

I prefer a no-chamois baggy short with a mesh liner for all my riding. Do these shorts have a mesh liner?

Responded on

Hey DurtGurl,

These shorts do not have a mesh liner or chamois. Just lots of stretch. Ill get a picture of the inside up. Stand by :)
