Great bang for the buck

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've been using the Bellows jacket with Trew Bibs for two seasons now. I purchased the gear because it had a lifetime warranty at a solid price point. Unfortunately two years ago they had some manufacturing issues where the glued seams were not glued at the proper temperature. I was bummed when a few weeks in pretty much every pocket ripped through. Fortunately it was an easily corrected issue and after sending everything back in I have not had issues with the properly glued seams, but they did miss the pit zips and those came apart as well. Trew is a small but growing company that has been moving through new manufacturers, issues like this will come up. What's more important is that they stand behind their warranty and Trew does. The fabric on my bibs starting warping and they replaced them no questions asked, something I was very thankful for as I also stood too close to a yurt fire and didn't realize I was burning a hole through my pants (note taken, not fireproof). I've never heard of anyone having an issue warrantying Trew gear, to me that is the biggest selling point.

The Bellows is a well organized jacket with all the pocket space you could ask for. The material is pretty bomber, I tag a lot of tree branches while skiing and time and time again it has stood up to the test and I don't have one rip yet. It breaths well, it beads water well, but not as well as say Arcteryx or other super high end brands. That's why your not paying 700 plus for a jacket, but you'll still stay dry, warm with proper layering (I also have they're down jacket and am a fan, again not the best but still pretty good), and you get a great warranty policy without breaking the bank. It's also pretty styley depending on your preferences, I know some of it is pretty funky. I'm 6'3 and like a baggy fit while I'm not into super baggy tall T park rat style (check pic below).

If you're looking for good ski outerwear at a good price with a great warranty, you're looking for Trew.

The Bellows is the Best!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used the Bellows in the cold wet conditions of the PNW for the past two years now and the PNW no longer seems so cold and wet. From bell to bell resort laps to dawn patrol BC missions the Bellows is my go to. The fabric is super lightweight so stashing it in my backpack during tours has never been an issue. Hands down this is the best jacket that I have ever worn. I'm 6 feet and wear an XL.
