Here's what others have to say...

Nice shoe, lightweight

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I weigh 230, wear out shoes quickly. I like the Treksta. Very comfortable, best for a wide foot I should think. I wear an 11.5 in North Face Hedgehog, require 11.0 in the Treksta.

great for trail running

this shoe fits a size smaller than your usual size but when you are on the trail it delivers. Its comfortable and performs well plus it breaths well too. Its been with me for a couple of my trips (Costa Rica, New Zealand) and still going strong.

Responded on

I need to caution against sizing up based on one persons fit. I work for Treksta and we feel out shoes fit true to size. This week we've had several people need to return shoes ordered online due to adjusting their normal size based on internet comments.

best trail runners i have found

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

i'm on my second pair of evolution trail runners, and i also have a gore tex pair that i use when it's wet out. i wear them with custom orthotics. the fit has been outstanding, and they handle abuse and wear as well as any trail runner of this type. eventually, the midsoles get crushed, like any EVA midsole shoe. i like these shoes for day-hiking and with a light backpack; they don't have enough support, for me, to carry a heavy pack. the sole tread is light - if you want heavier/deeper lugs, this isn't your shoe.

Poor Heel Support

I took a gamble on these based on my experience with the heel support giving out with my Evolution Mids. I needed a light, ventilated trail runner. I currently have the Treksta Kobra II and Evolution GTX Mid. These are comfortable. I have a flat-wide foot that is near impossible for me to find a shoe that I can say is comfortable out of the box (I usually find the lesser of the evils and pound it into submission with my duck foot). The to box is roomy and never had issues with hot spots, heel slip, or discomfort. I used these for Colorado mountain trails as well as work (on feet 9/10 hours running around/standing).

However, after only a few months I noticed that, like the GTX Mids, the heel support seemed to give way. I noticed that my right heel was essentially collapsing into the midfoot and laterally outward. This started to make the shoe uncomfortable and I had to return them. Yes, I took a gamble after having the problem with the GTX Mid hoping it was an isolated issue. I didn't get the GTX Mids from Backcountry (big mistake) so I'm now stuck with them. I have contacted the company regarding this and apparently this has been communicated to their development group (whatever that means). The good news is that I've put my Kobra IIs through a ton more abuse and are still running strong.

light and responsive

These shoes make me want to run !
There are subtle designs that make these shoes awesome and durable, like the rubber overlays, extra stitching and ergonomic fit (basically like a hug around your feet). I usually have to wear orthotics to help with my pronation but not with trekSta. My only gripe with these shoes is the outsole, not too sure on how long they will last and the shoelaces are just garbage.

So far so Amazing!

I love them so far, but I have yet to backpack in them. They are very burly shoes. The fit is terrific, very well made shoes. They feel totaly different than any other shoe I've ever worn. I will update after the next backpacking trip.
