Wendy, This one is steel. Travelchair makes a channeled aluminum version for $79.99. It's lighter and better for use in marine environments. (http://www.backcountry.com/travelchair-teddy-aluminum-frame-camp-chair)

Is this aluminum or steel frame?

Since it says alloy, it's aluminum. I just wish they'd specify which alloy. There are many Al alloys out there, with different strengths and weaknesses.

Bob, Travechair rep here. The alloy comment in Backcountry's spec sheet is wrong. This chair is steel. Travelchair makes an aluminum version (http://www.backcountry.com/travelchair-teddy-aluminum-frame-camp-chair). The alu version is lighter (6# 6oz.), stronger and uses stainless steel rivets. Designed with marine environments in mind.

What is the weight including travel sack? Is there an aluminum and also a steel frame version of this chair?
I am looking for a comfortable upright chair that is very light weight.

Weight for powder-coated steel: 8.2 lbs. Weight for aluminum (http://www.backcountry.com/travelchair-teddy-aluminum-frame-camp-chair) is 6.38 lbs. These are without the sack. Sack weights are the same for both and are only a couple of ounces.

These chairs were perfect for a wet weekend of camping. They dried super fast, had very stable footings, and held my canned beverages like a champ!

I Like the webbing in the fabric, it makes it very comfortable on those days your sitting outside enjoying the summer weather...

I took a Grand Canyon Raft trip last year & my guide had mesh seats by this company.
I haven't been able to find the exact chairs they had, but this one is similar & i like the feel of it.

Durability is top priority for me & so far this ones hanging in there with no sweat. Stayed tuned to see if it makes it through the summer though.
