Is there a suggested weight limit? I am 6 foot tall and weight about 210 lbs. If I were to lean back in this chair like in one of the review photos, would it last long?
Arthur Debowski
Member since
It will hold up to 250lb. but I would imagine that rating is for it sitting on the ground properly rather than leaned back like in the photo.

How well would this Chair work for Backpacking? Seems a little heavy?

It depends on how willing you are to carrying an extra 3.6lbs. If your average backpacking trip is only a couple miles, then this would be a great addition. But when you are looking at 6+ mile trips, multiple nights, or tough terrain, this will not be a convenience you will want to carry. It's the equivalent of carrying and extra 2 person tent. Depending on your planned backpacking trips, you may find a therm-a-rest trekker to work better for you if you have the right sleeping pad.

Leon, Outside seat area dimensions are 48x48cm(19"x19"). Actual seat fabric is 48x29cm(19"x11"). 53cm is the height.

I've tried just about every kind of camp chair out there, and the Larry Chair beats them by a mile. Light, very portable and incredibly comfortable, this chair lives in my car now so I always have it on hand. I'm on a beach vacation now without it and I am missing it horribly -- don't worry, Larry, I'll never leave you behind again!

Great design... light and little (good for concert or campfire... not backpack light). The problem is that the uprights for the back cut directly into your shoulder blades and/or arm pits. Not as comfy as hoped for.

We are avid Jeepers and we needed two camp chairs that were sturdy, compact, light, comfy, and easy to use. These chairs--we affectionately call them "The Larrys"--have been on many trails in Moab and served us perfectly! We fabricated brackets to hold them on inside of my rear door so they are the first thing at hand when we stop for lunch. They are the perfect size for relaxing at lunch or at camp after a long day of jeepin'. Our Larrys are well traveled and well loved!

I just spent four days spectating at a sporting event with the Larry Travel Chair, the perfect seating for this purpose. Super-lightweight, easy to carry, and not too low to the ground, it was a hit (so much so that it kept getting swiped by others in the group). My only complaint is that you have to take it slow when you're opening it up (make sure the seat is even) or it ends up kind of crooked and you have to collapse it down and start again.

Will this chair work as a replacement for a "sit-on-top" kayak?
Sandy Brown
Member since
Probably not. It would put your center of gravity too high and be pretty tough to strap down to a sit-on-top deck. The Paddler chair (http://www.travelchair.com/the-chairs/1679V/) would be a much better option.

Lovely Low-Riding Larry Chair sits just high enough for you to stretch out your legs to the level of perfection or bend your knees ever so slightly inverted to a comfortable/attentive position. The primary reason I bought the LC is that it is compact and light. For you small car campers this LC fits in the car much better than any other chair I have tried in our fill it to the ceiling hatchback. Money.

Take this with a grain of salt. I am the VP of sales and Marketing.....but I love, use and would buy this product if I couldn't get the cool kid price. Love it at the concert. Light, compact and fast set up.
How does that work

Considering switching out my foam padded high back Kayak seat with this chair. I have a 21" w x 10" deep hull space. My body wgt is 175#. My only concern is the toll that salt water and the constant stress on the connecting joints of the frame. Any thoughts...?

Seat height is 10", and in case your conversion skills are a little rusty or you're just someone who hates the metric system, here's the other dimensions open and folded-
open-19x19x24"
folded- 2.5x12x19"

This is my second Larry chair. The first I gave away to a poor Mayan rather than haul back from Mexico. I love the Larry chair, evidenced my my purchase of another. If everyone would do the same as I, then the world would be a far better place. God bless Lawnchair Larry who is now on that big white beach in the sky.

Yep, from Sherpas, to Mayans, to Incas, to porters in Zimbabwe, and even the kid down the street, some of our gear is left wherever we go...and the world really is a better place for it.

It fit in my 29" rolling suitcase perfectly. I can see no reason that it would not fit in a 54".
