The Toko Base Brush Copper is a durable brush for structuring and cleaning dirty bases. Run it from tip to tail after you scrape your wax so that your bases work more efficiently. Structuring your base prevents your skis from getting a suction-cup effect which can drastically slow you down.

Bottom Line: The Base Brush Copper from Toko is a durable tuning tool that will be structuring your skis for years.

Make sure you know what your doing before you tune nordic bases with this brush. The copper is the first brush you'd use after scraping, and you take off quite a bit of wax with it followed by nylon, and horsehair. Always run tip to tail with brushes, and never use any back and forth motion, as the pattern in your base can get damaged. Gets dirty fast, but you can beat it against the counter and it'll come clean. Essential for any wax buff. Another thought: two hands fit perfectly onto it, one right on top/behind another for really gettin into your brushing.

Must Have!

If you take the time to wax you MUST HAVE a brush. Like this one because you get 2 for 1 with the nylon and copper both on one brush. I use this to clean before I apply the wax and then again at the end.

I think i need a metal brush for cleaning dirt and wax before

I think i need a metal brush for cleaning dirt and wax before a fresh wax and for buffing after wax. Should I go straight to the copper brush or is there some advantage to the nylon/copper brush? Can someone explain the uses and benefits of all three (nylon, nylon/copper, copper)? I want a good go to brush with out having to buy 2 or 3 different ones.

You don't need 3 brushes, it is possible to make it work on one. 3 brushes are going to be faster, copper lightly before you wax to open your structure, remove old wax, and make the base more receptive to wax. Then wax, then scrape. When you scrape use a few passes with the copper, then nylon, and a final polish with horse hair. If you were to limit me to one brush, I would take nylon.

Buy if you race

By:

Toko brushes are the way to go. Brushing your skis provides a whole new world of speed and enjoyment to all levels of skiing. If you are a racer, be sure to get a metal brush, either copper or steel, for initial wax removal and structure detailing.

Completes the wax

This is a good brush. The nylon really completes a fresh new wax job. It's not so big that you have to use to hands, but it is just big enough that you can if you really want to dig in to it. Dimensions measure 6x3x1 in.

I don't know why that matters, but it's like 6-8 inches long and like 3-4 inches wide.

Big difference

By:
March 22, 2010

My first year snowboarding, a buddy taught me to wax my own board--but he never used a brush, so I figured i didn't need one. Now, two years later, i decided to see if it would make a difference--and wow! I feel like a freaking moron for not using one all along.

This brush is quite large, which makes it great for waxing my wide 153cm board. The bristles are a lot stiffer than the nylon ones i'd seen for sale at my local shop, which makes me more comfortable when I didn't scrape as well in an area.
