Description

A new pedal revolution.

While not far from the lightest pedals on the market, if you factor in cleat and fastener weights, Time's Iclic Titan Carbon Pedals are lighter than Speedplay Zeros and equal to Look's Keo Blade. While weight comparisons are one thing (and the Iclics fair well in that regard), there are a few other factors that make them an interesting pedal option.

The comparison to the Keo Blade is a must due to the fact that both it and the Iclic pedals have replaced the traditional wound steel spring for the retention mechanism in favor of a carbon fiber leaf spring. While Look's Keo Blade spring is located on the outboard side of the pedal, the Iclic system houses the spring in the center of the pedal body. Time's design safeguards the carbon spring and offers up a more streamlined shape.

The most notable improvement over Time's older RSX pedals is the "cocked" open position of the retention mechanism when your foot is out of the pedal. This minimizes the entry tension to nearly zero, so you can get engaged quickly and easily. When you step down into the Iclic Pedals, the back of the cleat pushes down on the red trigger latch, releasing the retention bar to clamp the cleat in place. At this point you are fully clipped in and ready to ride.

In keeping with Time's signature characteristics, the Iclic Titan Carbon Pedals have both lateral float (2.5mm) and sprung angular float (+5 degrees). The shape of the cleat and the spring tension on the retention bar control the angular float. It self-centers, giving you a secure feeling compared to pedals with truly free floating cleats like Speedplay's system. There is a three-position adjuster for the spring tension so you can dial them in to suit your preferences.

The Time Iclic Titan Carbon Pedals are Black with Red accents. They have a carbon reinforced composite body with sealed stainless bearings and a hollow Titanium spindle. The included three-hole Cafe Cleats are asymmetrical to allow a 2.5mm Q-Factor adjustment depending on which foot gets which cleat. They have non-slip material at the wear points to protect the structural portions and give you better traction on slippery surfaces.

Please Note: Time recommends the Iclic Titan Carbon Pedals for riders that weigh less than 90kg (198lbs).

Please Note: Iclic cleats are not compatible with older Time pedals or vice-versa.

  • Feathery 175-gram weight means less energy is necessary with every stroke of the pedals
  • Carbon blade offers a 43% weight savings over a titanium spring
  • Oversized pedal platform for optimal power transfer
