All business in the front and a party in the back, the Timbuk2 Mullet Messenger Bag’s ninja pocket keeps business and life separate. Load your lappy and business documents in the Mullett’s ninja pocket and keep your stinking commuting clothes in the separated main compartment. Compression straps help to Mullett hold it together all ride long, and the security checkpoint organizer pockets put important items close at hand when you’re pedaling. The Mullett’s removable padded strap comes and goes with your mood, and the internal map pocket helps keep you on course.

Bottom Line: There are two sides to any life.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Very awesome bag and then some

This is a great bag, like all the TIMBUK2 bags we have in the family. This is the one I carry. The only issue with this one, is there are so many compartments and pockets and zippers, sometimes I forget where I put something important and I have to look for it. Other times I find something I forgot that I put in there and it is kind of fun to find things I forgot about. BUY THIS BAG...

Will my stuff get wet if I get caught in the rain? What would be a good waterproof bag if not this one?

This bag is about as waterproof as you can get. I have used it as a cooler and after about an hour, the ice got the bag wet. But in the rain, your stuff should be safe and dry for a while as long as you get out of the rain in a reasonable time.

Hey JamarT,
The ballistics nylon is a general term for any nylon fabric made with a "ballistic" weave, usually a 2x2 or 2x3 "basket" weave. There are several weights, referred to as "denier" by the industry which may be used for the weave of this bag, the weight/denier gives the weave it's durability. Generally, 1050 w/d is the most bombproof and likely used in this application, though Timbuk2 doesn't specify (here or their website). Either way, Ballistics nylon is tough and tightly woven and should REPEL not seal out moisture and rain. The fabric could easily be treated with a water-proofing product like Nikwax to improve the water-repellent characteristics after the fabric became grimy and dirty from repeated use, streets are nasty, especially after the rain. You might try looking at the Timbuk2 Classic Bag; it has a waterproof lining (not sure if the Mullet does) and has several favorable reviews attesting to its durability and water-repellent characteristics. Either way, this bag will allow water in if you submerge it, so stay on the streets and trails and you internal items should be fine, avoid any rivers 5 feet deep running down Main Street - SCI.

Great bag

Between my wife, my daughters and myself we have 5 Timbuktu bags. They all have different little detail differences, the only complaint is that the shoulder pads are wimpy and lack a non slip surface to keep them on your shoulder. Mine worked great on a two week business trip to Germany.

This bag is big. BIG. I got it off of one of the ODAT sites. Much larger than I thought. That being said, it's awesome. I put my lap top, work files in the back pocket, shoes, clothes, toiletry kit in the front and am off to the airport for a long weekend trip. It's perfect for that or as your reusable grocery bag (nothing will break it). I've had 5 22oz beers, steaks and corn in the pocket and the work stuff in the back. I don't love it because of the size, but I'm not buying a new one because I'm so used to having the extra space now and can't go back.
