Like I mentioned, I had mine mounted backwards, but it still shows the size of the bag.

Goody Two Shoes.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Timbuk2 Goody Bento Box is great for being able to hold those few extra things that you want to be able to access on the go. The main reason I bought this was to have a place for storing snacks while I was touring without having to open my panniers and dig around for food when I wanted to munch on something. I didn't like having it situated at the front of the bike so I actually ended up putting mine backwards against the seatpost which worked out pretty well. It did rub against my legs which ended up really scratching the paint on my frame, but that is just bad placement on me and not any fault of Timbuk2.

Construction
The construction of this Bento Box is really solid and has ample straps. As others have mentioned, the two straps on the front don't work very well with the headset, but I think having too many straps is better than not having enough to hold it in place. The velcro straps are tough and zippers feel like real solid quality.

Size
This Bento Box is a pretty large size, which is actually something I was looking for. No it is not very aero but it can actually fit more than a CO2 cartridge. I was able to fit 5 granola bars and a bag of sports beans with no problem at all.

Access
Where I had this positioned I didn't plan on being able to access it while riding, but even then I found the double zipper opening access kind of hard to open and close at times. If I was trying to use this while riding I think I would get frustrated at trying to use it with one hand and zip it up all the way. This is the only reason that I gave it 4 stars.

Timbuk2 didn't skimp on any quality on this Bento Box and the size is great to fit those few things that you want easy access to. I got the white one and the color is very true to the pictures on the site.

Could be great, but doesn't fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really love this bag in theory (looks like great construction and all the right pockets and attachments), but unfortunately it was way too big for my bike and me. I kept hitting it with my legs, both when seated and standing, and the smartphone sleeve on top didn't fit my Droid even with a small case. I'm 5'6", and ride a Trek 520. Maybe this is made for men with longer torsos so their knees wouldn't get in the way?

Large, but useful bike pack

I like to ride with my iphone for emergencies but I hate rearranging my seat pack and spare tire kit everytime. This additional front pack is perfectly designed for just that; it fits your phone and any other goodies you may need easy access to on your ride. Pay close attention to the dimensions, the pack was larger than I expected (which is not necessarily a problem for me, because I'm already not very aerodynamic ;)

Great accessory

I wanted more space besides my seat bag, without stuffing my jersey pockets. This fits the bill. It is kind of big, but other bags I looked at seemed pretty useless. This one actually fits stuff and closes up securely. Only the bottom strap for the stem actually fastened on my bike, so I removed the top one. I don't actually use it that much anymore, but on longer rides, its great. I like having it as an option when I need it.

Great accessory

The Timbuk2 Goody box is not 10 x 17 x 7....

The Timbuk2 Goody box is not 10 x 17 x 7. What is the real size? I just ordered one from you and I am trying to decide whether to send it back. Maybe I got the wrong bag. The bag I received is 7" long, 3.5" wide and 4" high.

Responded on

The dimensions listed are cm, not inches, like the description says. You did get the correct bag, but BC will take it back if you don't like it, no questions asked.

does it fit iphone 5?

does it fit iphone 5?

Responded on

Should fit, but may be tough to get in and out of phone sleeve. Also, the phone sleeve does not close on the top end. Probably not an issue due to the tight fit, just don't get caught in wet weather.

Great, but big

I wanted to like this so much.... quality craftsmanship 100%. It does rub your legs when sprinting. It will teach you to pedal straight, but the brushing of the knees will get to you! I tried for twenty miles and couldn't live with it. But what a quality product!

Convenient and well-made

Gave this as a gift. It replaced a seat bag, allowing for a light to be on the seatpost at all times.

High quality...not small however

I really like this bag!! It's made very well and holds everything I need during a ride. I purchased it specifically for the phone accessibility and I have to say, it's working out great!! I do wish that it were a little smaller. I think they could have made the bag narrower and shorter and still been able to accommodate the phone pouch. Maybe Timbuk2 will make a mini version someday. In the meantime, I will continue to use this bag and change it out for a smaller conventional "bento box" during triathlons when I won't be using my phone anyway.

Responded on

I found a smaller version on the Timbuk2 website: http://www.timbuk2.com/goody-bento-box/858.html?dwvar_858_color=1006&dwvar_858_size=5#dwvar_858-2-1006_size%3D5%26dwvar_858-2-1006_color%3D2000

The product description says this bag...

The product description says this bag is10x17x7" -- I realize this is wider than most top tube bags (typical is 3or4" tall x 5" long x 1.5" wide) but those dimensions are huge! 10x17x7 must include the velcro straps in the open position! Either that or I can put my laptop in it ;-)

What is the dimension of the bag only?

Thanks!

Responded on

Yeah those dimensions have to be wrong because that would make the cell phone pocket a tablet pocket haha. The dimensions I pulled from REI say it is 6.7 x 3.9 x 2.8 which sounds on par with what I saw in store.

Responded on

The big dimensions are cm, not in. No fear, it's not that enormous.

Lovin this bag!!1

I'd seen this bag before and really wanted it due to the phone pouch. The build quality is of the best I've owned in a bike bag, which I expected already from Timbuk2 and its rep. My Droid Razr is a tight squeeze but it's pretty wide so I expected this but it fits, my friend has a slightly smaller android and it slips in perfectly. The plastic touch screen window works with ease when swiping or tapping, the placement on the bike is really good for GPS navigation and seeing if you get a call, etc. It's not the cheapest bag but I like it and consider it well worth the price, my buddy was so impressed he has one on the way. Weatherproof, lifetime warranty, easily accessible while riding, if you even slightly want it get it no joke. I never do reviews, sorry if I come off as a timbuk2 saleman.
