Pockets for everything

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just got my bag a few weeks ago, and already it's easy to tell the difference between it and my old bag.

I really use the 'Napoleon pocket' as a place to put my keys. Instead of having to take my bag off, unzip it, and fish for the keys, I can simply unzip the pocket, grab the keys, and go. Doesn't sound much, but it makes a real difference when you need to grab and go.

There's a place to stash my rain jacket that's easy to access for when the weather turns, and also a place for a reusable grocery bag in case I need to pick something up on the way home. Both of these are easily grabbable in a hurry.

The bag has very good carrying capacity - it can hold a lot if you need it to, but you can make it into something very flat, too. The quality of construction shines through, except in one area -- the logo's ink runs in wet weather! Kinda messy, and not a big thing. But it's something I've noticed. It's a noticeable contrast with how the rest of the bag is water repellant.

Great for ultrabooks.

I got this to act as my work/travel laptop bag. It is TSA compliant, so you don't have to worry about pulling your laptop out to put through the scanners. The carbon twill color looks ultra classy, but the bag appears to be bombproof (my other messenger is also a Timbuk2, and it is almost 10 years old and in GREAT condition still). There is an absurd amount of pockets on this thing, to the point of being overkill. I'd almost need a crib sheet to remember where I put my stuff. I wouldn't put a full-sized desktop replacement laptop in here, but an ultrabook like a MB Air or a Lenovo X1 fits really well.

Great for traveling

I bought this bag for a trip I made recently to Guatemala leading a group of 11 people to do some humanitarian work. I already own a Timbuk2 messenger bag but it's a little small and wouldn't fit all the items that I needed to carry on my person through the airport.

I purchased the Medium sized and was able to fit a laptop, a 3-inch ringed binder filled with paper, and many other essentials with ease. The only problem is that all the weight really made my neck hurt walking through the airport! The fact that the bag zips almost in half so that you can put it through the TSA scanners without having to actually remove the computer from the bag was a huge convenience. Plus, there's tons of little pockets to organize all my garbage with.

Another quick plus is I had it out in the rain several times and never had issues with the contents within my bag getting wet.
