The Thule Flat Top is a classic car top ski and snowboard mount. The Flat Top's sandwich design fits any shape of ski or snowboard without adjustment, and you can mount the Flat Top to almost any rack thanks to Thule's universal Fat Mouth clamps. Oversized release buttons are easy to hit with gloves or mittens, and the heavy-duty aluminum body won't mind you tossing your planks in roughly. Lock the Flat Top with Thule lock cores to keep your gear safe. This mount comes in two sizes so you don't have to buy more than you need. The four-ski capacity holds approximately two snowboards, and the six-ski capacity holds three boards. Mount the Flat Top high on your vehicle roof to flip over boards with bindings, and double your fun.
Bottom Line: Bring your planks to the mountain with the Thule Flat Top Ski Rack.

This ski/board carrier is nice looking as well as practical. My older version fits only Thule bars, but the latest version has a universal bar clamp that works with Thule, Yak, and most factory cross-bars, Nissan Xterra excluded. Easy installation, but don't lose the included Torx tool. It's similar to a hex, or Allen wrench, but fits only Torx head screws and it has a "security" feature, which is a tiny hole in the middle that mates to a pin on the Torx head screw. It makes it hard for a thief to steal your Thule ski/board carrier, but also makes it hard for you to remove it if you don't have the tool. In fact, it's darn near impossible. Locks are included, a nice touch. Lifetime guarantee--keep your receipt.
Janie, They should with their universal fit. However, Since 1993 they have made 4 different body styles of Grand Cherokee. If you can specify the model year I or someone else can confirm whether or not they will fit your factory rack. Otherwise these will fit any Thule or Yakima aftermarket rack system.
Simon, No, this does not come with crossbars or the rack system. It does have universal clamps that will fit most existing racks, however your civic will likely need the base system. I suggest you check out www.thule.com or www.yakima.com or click the "car rack configurator" link above to get started on building a system. I hope this helps, and good luck!
Works great. Holds my skis nice and secure, was a breeze to install and the integrated locks give me some piece of mind. Just make sure you don't leave your skis on for extended periods of time or your edges will rust.
I'm a first time board hauler and been doing a lot of research. Do you haul the snowboards binding up or binding down facing the auto roof or does it matter?
There should be enough room to place a board bindings down toward the roof, that way you can stack boards bottom to bottom and carry 4 boards if you need to. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter if there is room. The wind drag difference will be negligible.
Does anyone know if this can fit 4 snowboards (snowboards put together kinda like skis) let say if you have a lot of clearance between the roof and the boards?
Yes, it can. The only thing to watch out for is that you have enough clearance between the rack and the roof of your car/truck. On some vehicles the cross bars sit very low, or if you have bindings that don't fold down very flat you may have issues. It'll work in most cases, so I'd give it a shot.
I got this ski rack for something like 1/2 to 1/3 off so I feel I have gotten amazing value out of it on my Legacy Outback. It is a nice & simple ski rack, that is easy to put on & take off my car. Most ski racks are pretty similar, they only real difference is the assembly onto the car rack.
If you are gonna spend a lot of money, get a ski box, because those you can use for traveling other than skiing to give more storage room onto your car for bigger summer road trips. I used to have a ski box & at sometimes I miss that, you don't get road grime on your skis. It all depends on what your needs are.
I have a 2008 VW Rabbit with factory cross bars, the Thule Flat came with screws that were too short to connect the top and bottom clamps, but Thule happily overnighted me a longer set free of charge. Overall, an excellent product with excellent service behind it.
Hi... I am currently researching ski racks. I have a Volvo SUV XC 90 with factory racks. Do I need to purchase cross bars in order to use the Thule Universal ski rack? Are there ski racks that mount to any car without the additional cost of cross bars? Thanks.
Will these work for our Toyota Rav4 that has the factory installed cross bars / rack already? We have an older yakima that fit our subaru but won't fit our new toyota 2008.
Does you Saturn have a roof rack? If it does, you should be golden, unless you car is really old and has a wildly different rack design than current vehicles.
I dont see why it woudlnt, it may hold them a little tight, I used to use a similar rack for fishing poles in my garage, but this one clamps a good bit tighter, if you are using ultra light poles I think that might be an issue, but with a striper pole, or a deep sea pole or something it would work well I imagine.
That's a pretty loaded question. The rack holds 4 pair of skis, but only if your skis happen to be the straight über-narrow ghetto-ass skis that your parents rode on. Don't expect to get more than 3 pair of fatties in here.
