For the big-boy bikes.

Unfortunately, your 20mm thru-axle won’t mount on your QR-mount bike rack. The Thule Thru-Axle Fork adapter solves the problem quickly, easily, and inexpensively. The Thru-Axle Adapter works on any QR-mount bike rack, regardless of brand.

  • 20mm thru-axle bike compatible
  • Works with any brand

Here's what others have to say...

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Haven't used it much yet. Seems well built. Really no alternative if you're using a fork mount rack like in a truck bed.

Must have item

Ya gotta have one for the roof rack if your 20mm thru-axle won’t mount on your QR-mount bike rack. This is my 2nd one, well made just showing a little rust on the welds but still sturdy!

    Necessary evil

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I had to pick one of these up to work with my Yakima Forklift rack. It does the job and holds a 15mm fork very securely. It's very easy to set up and use, but would be nice to see a cheaper option or one that allows you to lock your bike down. Paired with the Yakima rack, I can lock this adapter to the rack but can't lock the fork to the adapter without throwing a cable lock around the whole mess.

Bottom line - this works great and is completely necessary, but is possibly the least sexy piece of gear I've spent $$ on in my life.

You've had success with this holding a 15mm as well as a 20mm?

My bike has a 15mm axle so I ordered the 15mm adapter. It's a snug fit and definitely wouldn't fit a 20mm axle. I'm sure you could get a 15mm axle into the 20mm adapter, but I suspect that you would get a good bit of wobble in the set up, especially at highway speeds. I've never tried that route and I'm not sure I would recommend it. I think you're best off to get the adapter (15mm, 20mm, or lefty) that matches up with the axle size you have on your bike.

    Thru-Axle Adapter

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

It works like its suppose to, but $40 for something this simple ? I needed 4 so it adds up quick! I guess I'm forced into it if I have all 15mm axles on my mtb's.....

Simple, solid, good quality. Just what you'd expect from the Swedes

      Works as advertised.

I got the 15mm version of this to attach a Rocky Mountain Altitude 50 to my buddy's Rocky Mounts TieRod Bike Mount. It works just like I thought it would. My friend has a Rocky Mounts thru-axle adapter and it was a lot more expensive than this one. However, unlike this adapter, it allows you to still lock the bike to the rack. If that were possible with this one, it would have 4 or 5 stars.

I know this review is old but, I had to comment concerning Rocky Mounts thru axle adaptor. It is heavy duty and does lock. However, it just doesn't work! When I put this on my Rocky Mount Pitch Fork rack, the bike was not stable . I had to use the 15mm adaptor that was included. The bike rolled extensivly backward and forward. The thru axle could not be tightened enough to the rack and the bike axle could not be tightened enough to the thru axle. I'll try the Thule thru axle adaptor and hope all tightens enough.

Anybody interested in this adaptor should read EXACTLY what KENNETH P wrote above me. All these adaptors (Thule, RockyMount, Hurricane, etc) all have the exact same engineering design where it's impossible to not get the adaptor to rotate forward/backward when driving. They all stink, I've tried them all.
