The Thule Roadway 4 Bike Hitch Rack raises the bar for performance, convenience, and ease. Thanks to its Stinger Swinger, this rack fits both 2- and 1 ¼-inch hitches right out of the box, making it easy to switch between vehicles. Thule's Hitch Switch mechanism takes advantage of dual quick-release levers to make it simple to connect and remove the Roadway Rack. The T3 cradles secure up to four bikes while still allowing complete adjustment along the bike arm. For added security, pick up Thule's No Sway Cage, STL2 hitch lock, and 538 Cable (sold separately). If you need help figuring out if this rack is right for your car, feel free to call our gear experts at 800-409-4502.

Bottom Line: If you want an easy-to-use rack that will fit different sized hitches, look to the Thule Roadway 4 Bike Rack.

Standard Rack

This rack receives a C grade. Or Standard grade. It doesn't speak of high-quality, but it gets the job done. I've piled 4 bikes on this thing in Fruita and rallies some dirt roads - bikes stayed on. Been using it for 2 months now, 1 strap broke, but other than that it seems to be a sturdy, good, rack.

If your vehicle has a hitch mount, you will be able to use the Thule Roadway Hitch Bike Carrier without any issues, as it fits both 1.25 and 2 inch hitches.

Great choice for a four bike carrier

By:

Well after recieving my rack I found that to secure it to my hitch I needed to purchase the $50.00 lock kit which should have been disclosed BEFORE I bought it. The hole that is drilled in the sleeve is threaded. Once I bought the lock I mounted the rack and found that it's threaded so you can tighten the nut that secures the lock to avoid the "clanking" of the rack because it's so light. It's quick on and of but you have to keep a wrench and lock key with you in order to remove the rack. Overall it's better than I expected. I put some red lock tight on the other bolts to avoid someone removing parts while unattended.I now use it regularly.

Hey Joe,

Personally, I think that the Thule Transport T2 is the best option for Freeride/Downhill bikes - it's super easy to use and will handle any frame geometry because it grabs on to the wheels.

Great product, great price + service

By:

I mounted this bike carrier on a 2008 RAV-4. Very, very easy mount. Comes with all necessary tools, although you may want to use your own ratchet as the "wrench" included with the set has a tendency to leave marks on the nuts. The carrier itself is high quality. Heavy gauge steel + bike mounting hardware (rubber/plastic) is all top notch. I am using with the anti-sway cradles and the product performs as advertised. Backcountry.com had the best price, shipping was extremely quick, and service was great. I accidentally ordered two instead of one and Backcountry immediately sent me a shipping label to get the extra one back to them. Highly recommended!

Good rack if you like your bike sitting next to the dead deer on the side of I80

Great rack for the first few months, then rubber straps become brittle and break which makes this rack viturally usueless, I jimmy rigged some bungess to hold my bike to it after almost all the straps broke. The straps will also pinch your brake and shifter lines which is annoying and the rack weighs a ton! Other than that I would def suck up the money and purchase a Thule T2 drop in make life a million times easier. Oh ya get a lock! My rack like this one was stolen right off the back of my car, (thank you tho!)
