    great mount

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have two of these. Drilled through the toolbox on my truck and mounted one on each side of the lid, so I can have two bikes in the bed at the time. Works well. Eventually, they rusted some. But, in NOLA, everything rusts.

    Cheap and easy.

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Got this and and a cam strap for carrying my bike on my Jeep Cherokee. The crossbars are plastic, so just drilled right into the bars to attach the mount. Then lined up the back bar with the rear tire, and used a 12" cam strap to hold the rear down. Worked great for long trips and rough roads. Super easy to load and unload. Love it.

    Solid, but not perfect

Good strong & solid unit, but quick-release action is lacking due to poor use of a split-washer... Good for solidly holding your bike over rough ground, or long trips, but would be annoying if you shuttle lots of short trips.

Being able to thread a cable lock through unit is a nice touch.

      Solid performance

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I mounted it directly to the floor of the bed of my truck (2008 Tacoma) right up next to the cab, and it works great. It's out of the way of any cargo that I load. Although I've now learned of a better way to do it from a tacoma forum by using the tie down rails, this works just fine too. Super solid

      Just bought my second one...

Just got my second mount for my truck. I have them bolted to a couple of 2x4s in the bed of my pick up that fit into grooves in my liner. I would recommend this to pl w/ this capability.

I think the important thing to note about this mount is that it stands up to weather like a champ! I bought one about 5 years ago, left it out in my truck all 5 years, through all sorts of weather, standing water, etc...no rust, no corrosion, works the same now as it did when I first got it. I had bought a SETTE mount of similar design at the same time...didnt last a month and is now replaced with another one of these...

HIGHLY recommend this mount...it will never let you down. Worth every penny...

        As Good As It Gets...

I have an old Graber pickup bed bike rack that I wasn't too enthused about because the fork leg attachment points were not very easy to operate. I bought one of the Thule Low Rider Mounts and mounted it on the Graber rack and was I impressed. Super easy to operate, built heavy duty...and, did I mention easy to operate! I was so impressed that I bought 2 more so I can mount all 3 of our bikes. Now I look forward to putting the bikes in the truck. I can't say enough good things about this mount. Honestly, it's that good.

Disclaimer: Since I already had a bed rack that had fork mounts, installation was relatively easy - I only needed 2 new u-bolts per unit to mount the Thule mounts to my rack. (The Graber hardware didn't line up with the holes in the Thule mount.) If you're going to mount these into a truck bed without an existing rack, you'll probably have to drill some mounting holes...they include a template so that you can mark the holes accurately. Just LOOK (underneath the bed to make sure you don't drill into something important) before you drill.

          Just what the bike ordered

These things fit the bill for a couple of needs I have: 1) I have the bed rider bike rack in the bed of my truck - these are really the only things that work with that set up. 2) When going to an event sometimes we transport more bikes than what will reasonably fit in the bed of a truck so these mount easily to to the deck of a flat bed trailer or on the inside of a covered trailer. Quick to set up. Holds bikes securely. Just what is needed for many of my bike transport needs.

            Perfect for pickups!!!

I really wanted a good quality hitch mounted rack but was not willing to part with $200 plus. I also had a phobia of my precious ride falling off the rack or someone rear ending me. This was perfect! Easy install on my truck, my carbon beauty secure in the bed, couldnt ask for more. Quality design, holds securely and can be utilized with a cable lock for short stops. Very economical!!!

              Excellent fork mount

I mounted two of these mounts onto a 2x4 in the bed of my trunk. They work great. Since I cable lock my bike to the truck, I had no need for a locking fork mount. This fork mount fit the bill perfectly - economical, sturdy and look decent.

                Work great but no lock.

I finally sucked it up and bought a couple of these to bolt to the front of the box in my truck. Im glad I did. No more bikes sliding around and slamming into stuff on my way to the trails. Wish they were lockable though. You can buy seperate locking skewers, but I haven't yet.

                  Pretty good system

I like the concept, the construction and the product. Works well in the bed of my nissan frontier. However, putting them in was a little bit of a pain, lining up bolts and such. The manual said to use 5/16 bolts, turns out they are more like 9/32. I just drilled the holes in the bracket out a little. Also, loc-tite or a lock washer is definitely recommended as the bolts will loosen up over time.

All in all, it's good, cheap and reasonably secure.

I'm looking at getting a fork mount to put on a set of Thule Bars. Can this mount be used on bars with a set of U bolts or is it only mount-able on flat surfaces?

LOL!!!...Before I bought mine I was wondering the same thing....Lol! I have a Honda Oddysee with a Thule Rack on top and was looking for a cheap fix! You could probably get away with that but I couldnt find a U bolt with the proper spacing for the holes. You may have to use somewhat of a spacer to take up the slack In the width of the rail bar. Bottomline, I wound up mounting it in the bed of my tundra, as intended, Because the wife took my drill away when I started measuring the top of her van for a roof mount!!!....Women!

Can you mount this on the front wall of the bed, or does it need to be mounted on the floor of the bed?
