great investment

I own the attachment and a double chariot. We have 2 kids under 4 and my wife and I are able to ski together. We often go in the evening with the kids and they sleep in the chariot. The unit is very stable and tracks very well when skiing. We love it.

I assume this will work with snowshoes as well...

Responded on

Yes, I use it when hiking in the snow as well as XC skiing.

If you've got two in two by your lonesome, then this is the way to go on snowshoes. However, if you can handle the weight, and you only have one kiddo less than 30-ish lbs, then I would recommend a great kid pack for snowshoeing instead.

Would it be at all possible to ski-journ with my dog and pull the xc skiing chariot?

Responded on

Have not tried, or would attempt with my baby girls after seeing someone on the trails in Anchorage, AK, careening around a corner and experiencing some near misses. Maybe if your dogs are rock solid, stop on dime, and do not get distracted...

Can you use the XC Skiing CTS kit to just walk in the snow with the carrier? I would want to put on the harness and then just pull the carrier behind me.

Responded on

You certainly can! This kit converts the carrier to glide on skis rather than roll on wheels in snowy conditions. However, please keep in mind that the skis here are not big enough to keep the carrier and child/children aloft in deep, unpacked snow.

Curious if folks skate ski or traditional with this attachment. Would prefer to skate, but not sure if that's doable.

Responded on

Skating is certainly do-able. The arms on this kit are adjustable so you can achieve whatever length you need for appropriate clearance.

Responded on

Have done both and they both work great.

Is there any chance that the Chariot ski kit will adapt to the Burley d"Lite? Burley no longer makes their ski conversion kit.

Responded on

Nope! The Chariot CTS carriers are specifically designed to pair with the ski kit. The Burley is a completely different system.

Does this work with the 2009 Chariot Cheetah?

Best Answer Responded on

Yes the ski kit will work with any of the cheetah models from 2003 through 2010--no adapters needed, insert ski axles into the axle housing on the trailer & harness poles into the Versa Wings as you would on a Chariot Cougar.

Over 200 days - it rocks

Can't say enough good things about the Chariot and ski conversion kit. My daughter loves it, and it really isn't that heavy if you love to ski for fitness anyway. We did some extra outfitting to make it really comfy in the cold - we use the fleece bunting bag from Chariot, added some puffy Primaloft layers, put a foam pad under her butt and feet, and on really cold days add a hot water bottle - she sleeps comfortably in any weather, and has never complained about any cold ever. The only low quality component is the skis themselves - cheap rossignol junk, but when they wear out (over 175 days or so), just replace them with some Junior skate skis, and it is better than new.

hello. does this work on the Chariot CX2?

Best Answer Responded on

You bet. The CX2 is compatible with all five CTS conversion kits. See more info here...

Responded on

There is an important caveat for using the CTS Ski conversion kit with the CX models: the CX Ski Axel Adapter. This piece is has gone up $10 from 2011 (it used to be $10 and is now $20). The adapter replaces the housing in the ski arm that attaches to the side of your Chariot with the slide-through axle. While the ski kit comes with its own axles, the CX adapter requires you cannibalize your CX wheels and use those axles instead (they easily come on and off). There are a number of nuances headaches with getting the adapter situated and you can read my review on that other page. Once your work is finished, it works great.

Good workout

This is a nice addition to the Chariot for those wanting to take their kid cross country skiing with them. Everything is well engineered. When pulling the Chariot bike attachment on the bike, I tend to forget it’s there, but you won't "forget" there is somebody behind you on this. This is a really good workout with a 25lb child in the back. I'm hoping he's skiing by himself when he's 50lb. Some hills present a unique challenge, and I would not suggest going down the steeper ones without skis with edges.
