Description

Hikers do it longer in their socks.

When you're stomping out miles of serious hiking, your socks can be your most important make-or-break piece of equipment. Thorlos gets it. The Men's Hiking Thick-Cushion Thor-Lon Crew Sock puts cushion where you need it to reduce fatigue and allow you to hike longer, or just feel better doing it. Thick cushioning at the the ball of the foot and the heel reduces shock, while moderate cushioning at the instep protects your arch from pressure form your boot. If that's not enough, Thorlos added a ventilation panel to help wick moisture away to keep you dry and comfortable.

An average to good hiking sock. Nice padding and a snug fit, but wears out quickly on the heel and ball of foot. Also after only a day of heavy use tends to be stiff and crunchy from sweat, ready to be changed. Just fine if you use for just one day.

These socks are slippery on just about any surface. My feet slides around in them as well.

After just a few hours of usage the socks show clear signs of heavy wear. Fabric fibres coming off on heel and ball of the foot.

One pair arrived with multiple damage to the knitting.

The padding is nice, hence the two stars.

Fragile socks for sliding

I used to just buy a big sack of socks at the local discount store until a couple of years ago when I bought my first pair of hiking socks from Wigwam. I bought a pair of these Thorlos on a whim when I ordered a jacket from Backcountry and I'm so glad I did. The sole is so squishy and cushiony, and the part that goes around your leg isn't tight like many others can be. It's very soft and doesn't leave a "sock print" around my leg at the end of the day. I'm ordering more of them.

These socks have proved very durable for me, I wear mine with a liner sock and they wash really well when I'm in the BC. They handle moisture very well which helps them not break down after a long day, Great sock.

I have been wearing Thorlos for hiking for many years and I love them. They wick perspiration well and provide a lot of cushioning. Also, they're very durable and hold they're shape.
