Technology at work!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My wife used this on a recent kayak trip and we found it to be very comfortable, easy to setup, and cooler than we expected. She loved it, but in any kind of cooler temps an insulating layer should be used as you are elevated off the ground. A great purchase and I'll be using one as well next trip.

Simply Awesome...

Haven't used it camping yet but assembled and tried it when it arrived. I can only say how awe struck I was with it's simplicity yet sturdy construction...and extremely lightweight to boot.

Great cot

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This cot is a back saver! it's light and relatively easy to set up. It holds me nicely and I am 6'2" 195 lbs. No more uncomfortable nights on the hard ground. well worth the $$$.

Luxury Cot

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This cot is great for those of us who can't sleep on the ground, even with a pad. I use this cot and put a self-inflating mat on top, and it's like sleeping on your bed at home. Enables me to enjoy backpacking.

I am 165 lbs. and don't use the double twist poles, but still use all 12 feet, gives more support. I am able to sleep on my back and sideways with no problems. I also plan to use the Them-a-rest Apline down blanket to give me more movement.

Cot - Great investment

I'm 53, and I used the cot on a 5 day canoe trip into Algonquin Park, Ontario. For added comfort I placed my therm-a-rest on top. I'm a side sleeper...what a treat! No waking up to roll over.
It does take a few minutes to set up but well worth the time!

How warm will I sleep in comparison to using a exped synmat7?

Responded on

I use a 48" long therm a rest pad also and have sleep very confortably at temp below 20 degrees in a two man tent. I use a utra light Kelty bag rated at 20 degrees.

This cot has an ultralight mesh top that the description actually highlights as being cooler to sleep on when it's warm out. The Exped Synmat 7 has and R-value of 4.9, so if you're asking in reference to cold weather use, I think you would need to use the Exped mat on top of the cot to keep warm. For hot weather, this cot may keep you a bit cooler than the Exped mat.

How does the cot treat your tent floor? I'm wondering if the floor of my new ultralight tent would stand up to the cot's feet rubbing it against some rough rocky ground.
