Surprisingly warm for such a lightweight jacket.

The North Face built the Men's Zephyrus Pro Insulated Jacket with the innovative ZLoft baffle construction, which eliminates holes created by conventional constructions to keep cold air out and warm air in. PrimaLoft One insulation meets the highest standards of warmth too, so you stay surprisingly warm for such a lightweight jacket. Lightweight shell materials like 20D ripstop and PU-coated Pertex Endurance fabric at the hood, shoulder, and sleeves offers water-resistant protection. And you can compress this Summit Series jacket down into its own pocket, clip it to your harness, and climb on when the weather warms up.

An active fit pulls the Zephyrus Pro close to your body without restricting the mobility you need to pull, crank, and hike up to your alpine ascent. The hem cinches up to prevent it from riding up your body. And the harness-friendly handwarmer pockets are always available to warm your digits even if you have a harness or backpack on.

  • Nylon micro-ripstop body
  • Pertex Endurance hood, shoulders, sleeves
  • Polyurethane coating over hood, and shoulders
  • 60g PrimaLoft One insulation with ZLoft baffle construction
  • Active fit
  • Stows in pocket
  • Hidden hem cinch-cord
  • Two harness and pack friendly handwarmer pockets
  • The North Face Summit Series

Summit Series Rocks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Used during spring skiing down in Australia, as an outer layer only, and with the active fit can see how this will match well under pretty much an shell. Tho active fit, there's no restriction in mobility and well positioned pockets work well with any pack. Dual front zips (my preference on any jacket) enable venting and heat regulation. I have several of Zephyrus jackets, for their size, compressibility (?) and resilience, together with the warmth generated they are a great piece of kit. Fabric withstood several skirmishes with a few snow gums or two, no damage to report. Recommend.

Is this jacket zip-in compatible with The...

Is this jacket zip-in compatible with The North Face Mountain Light Insulated Jacket? If not, would you still recommend this jacket be worn as a mid layer with the Mountain Light Insulated Jacket? Thanks!

Responded on

GusGus, Neither of the jackets are zip-in compatible, but they could still work well as a layering system. If you want a mid layer and shell combo I would say this combined with the non-insulated mountain light shell would be a great combo. If you already have the insulated version and just want something to add a little more cold weather chops to the jacket then this would also work well enough. Stay warm out there!
