A nice solid vest that offers excellent protection against the wind, light rain & snow. It also works well for streetwear to provide a nice lighter overlayer on days with a chill. It is a beefier vest and so does not pack up small or move lightly but it does protect well against the lighter elements. Nice high collar, good pockets, and very durable material stands the test of burlier outdoor activity. A bit too heavy for running or light/fast activities.
I am 5'8 with athletic build and the Medium fits perfectly.
Can't go wrong with black

It is great to find a vest that covers all the bases,
warm, wind resistant, light weight, fitted and attractive. If the fabric gave a bit more I would
buy another one. I use it in place of a
jacket/windbreaker on cold days when biking...so far it is working great.
Great Vest!

Please! Give us petite sizes!

This is a perfect vest....except it is cut too long for a petite/short frame with actual female hips. I ended up with a larger size to go around my hips since I really had no other option: the vest is wonderful, the fit for petites is marginal.
Just right - almost!

Vest is soft, warm and I love the cut of it. Very flattering. I will say the sizing seems to run small. I know it is a fitted vest but I could have used a little more room in my normal size.

I have this vest in black also but wanted brown to go with my North Face pants. This is the warmest vest out there. I wear it everywhere, even just when I'm staying in but want a little something to keep my core warm. Easy to care for and even easier to love!

I've been buying NF outerwear because I can count on getting quality for the money.............even more so with sales! I bought the Windwall vest and have been happy with it and as another reviewer wrote, I sometimes wear it indoors as well. Often in classes I am freezing, so this vest works well then also. I found it to be true to size (I'm a size 2-4) and bought size small. It is fairly lightweight, soft, comfortable, looks good and does block the wind well. Unless you are going out in a wind storm, you can't go wrong with this vest.

I wear this vest frequently, even under my north face apex jacket! It's true to size. I wear a size 6 in shirts and ordered a small.

It's a great vest! It's perfect for skiing, snowshoeing etc. I am 5'4" and have an athletic build and the XS fits great. Yes, it could be a little longer, but it's a great vest and don't let that deter you from buying it. I run really warm when I am active and found this is perfect with a base layer. I've warn it with a lighter weight puffy over it when it's really cold out.
disappointed

I was replacing a North Face Windwall fleece black vest that I have had for a few years when I bought this one. I loved the first one, but it was getting a little worn looking so I ordered this one. I have two problems with this newer version: (1). it is shorter than the older version and I liked the prior length so that was a bit disappointing. (2) But the big problem is the dye from this vest transferrd to two different light colored shirts. I didn't realize it was happening until I did laundry. The black stain on a powder blue long sleeve cord shirt was bad and it will not come out even with spot removers. So, maybe I just got a bad vest, or maybe they are all like this? I'll check the reviews for the next few weeks and see.
Perfect if not so short

I'm 5'4" - petite. The Small is a bit too roomy under the arms and in the chest (I'm a B cup). The XS is perfect in every way EXCEPT it could use another 1" of fabric in the front. I can't believe how short the length is. I have another style NF vest and it does not have this problem. I don't understand the whole point of a windwall vest if the wind can sail right in under the front.
Love it!

The fit is great, the cut is flattering and I love the way the back is slightly longer than the front.
The fabric on the outside is soft to the touch, yet the inside 'windwall' material is effective and warm in cool wind.
The pockets are convenient, they're placed well, and don't bulge and interfere with the flattering cut of the vest.
It seems to run a little generous in size, perfect for layering.
Fantastic Vest

Nice but stiff

Liked it but it was a little stiff - not as soft and cozy as other vests I tried. I was specifically looking for a cream colored vest and ended up going with the Patagonia, but this was a close second. I may order it in green!
Love it!

how long down does the vest come on your hip?

I am 5'1/4", short waisted with long legs and 115 lbs. The vest hits me right where my hips meet my leg, so when I bend my leg in a 45 degree angle, it stops right at the "bend" above the top of my leg - perfect! The vest is a little longer in back. The bottom of the back ends right at the tip of my tailbone. I bought a medium. I also like the fit in terms of "tightness". It's fitted without being tight at all and not baggy looking either. Love it!
A must have item for runners

Let's just say straight away that I have never purchased any item from North Face. I don't like the giant logos they put on the front and back at all and I don't buy into trendy logos. I wasn't happy about the price point of this vest either, but decided to invest in it because I wanted a well made warm vest for layering while running that would hopefully last me a lifetime. Well, I have now worn this vest many times this fall running outside and it keeps me incredibly toasty warm! It really does a fantastic job blocking out the wind too. In fact, I like it so much I have worn it around the house to help combat the indoor cold while I crank down the heat to save some money here in Chicago. Bottom line - I'm wearing it like crazy!. The fit was perfect (thanks to a good sizing chart), it's sooo comfortable and it's toasty warm. I'm in love!
