Does the job

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

First off, I'm 6'7" and 305lbs with broad shoulders. XXL was perfect.

A good solid mid-layer, I've worn this on frosty mornings to work over a shirt and tie, and haven't needed more. It's also been up the Athabasca in autumn, and saluted there too. I get the feeling it could handle a short cloudburst - dries easily - but layering is where it's best.

Husband loves this

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large

My husband is military, and frequently stuck outside in freezing temps. This vest is perfect for work and the weekend. I was able to get him the discontinued color (tan) so he can wear it with his uniform. It looks great, blocks the wind, and keeps him warm. Plus, I used the outlet and got it for a steal. Backcountry always has the best prices for the name brand outdoor apparel he loves.

It fits a bit loose (M) on him, he's 5'7" ish and about 165 with a bit of muscle. However, he seems to like the looser style as he wears a flannel or uniform under it. It's great for layering and goes well under his jacket as well, perfect for the winters we have here in Idaho. The vest washes up great, and he really puts it through the wringer.

Thanks again for saving my reputation as a wife who knows what her husband loves!

Great all around

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My dad spends a lot of time outdoors, and he is pretty rough on his apparel. I got him this vest because it is lightweight yet super warm and durable. It's great for anything from his every day routine to his hunting trips, so it was a big hit!

This item was totally misrepresented by color. I wanted the vest as pictured but what I got was a vest that was tan and navy in color. IT'S BUTT UGLY !!!!!

    Great vest

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great to wear over a flannel or button down shirt to add warmth, or great to layer under my jacket. I wear this almost every day. The size is a true size, not too long.

    Great Vest - highly recommend

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I bought this vest with the Chromium Soft shell. Together they make a great combination in very cold weather. The vest by itself is incredibly warm. It also breaths wel.

    Found cut toogenerous

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

I agree with the other reviewer that finds that this sizing is too large. The fleece vest, which is intended to be a close fitting layer for outdoor insulation--could fit a down vest underneath it. Going down a size is not always possible for tall folks. This vest is cut too generously, especially in the abdomen. Am going to return this vest in favor of

Mountain Hardwear Mountain Tech Vest because the reviews of that product seem to mention a closer, fitted, cut.
