The North Face: 3-in-1 Triclimate Jacket
Vortex Tri-Climate Review
The North Face Vortex Triclimate
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs large
I can definitely say that it is rainproof. Two nights ago we were under a flash flood warning and received one-half inch of rain in seven (yes, seven) minutes. I purchased the jacket in the middle of July (big sale price, thanks BackCountry) and did not have a chance to wear it until just the other night, in short, it worked perfectly.
I threw the jacket on, cinched down the hood as tightly as I needed and went outside. I did not intend to be out there for long but soon realized that I had to perform some minor flooding abatement and remained in the storm for the better part of 30 minutes. I was completely dry when I returned inside, I then simply gave the jacket a brisk shake to completely dry it off and hung it right back up.
I will post a more detailed review when the weather turns cold, until then, I am definitely satisfied with the performance but have not worn it enough to rate more than 4 stars.
Vortex Ski Jacket...TNF
Great Jacket and Better Service
I live in Baltimore, and got this jacket to help deal with the crap weather here - snow one day, rain the next, all the while, freezing cold.
The jacket is warm, warm, warm. I've never been cold wearing the jacket. I have never taken the layers apart (except when I first got it), because it's always freezing here. However, the inner shell is a good lightweight jacket. It's got a zillion pockets, and a big hood (in case I take it with me to go snowboarding) so I can fit a helmet under it.
Also, I tried to order it online, and it didn't work. I called BackCountry, they upgraded me to FREE 2-day shipping, and processed the order quickly. The girl on the phone sounded sexy, too.
I didn't think this jacket would be as warm as it was. The stiff neck area got in the way sometimes when you move around. The small felt like it ran bigger but with all the adjustments I was able to make it look slimmer.
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
it is very versatile winters are not too cold for us so its great to have less layers when you need it
Warm and waterproof
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Works great has a nice removable liner not too overly complicated. does a good job at keeping it normal.
Pretty functional jacket for skiing or any outdoor use. If you're looking for a good jacket to layer with, this is a great option as you can easily zip in and out layers and change the warmth of the coat. Not a huge fan of the style of jacket, but that's just me.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I really liked this jacket. I got the athens blue which was a very cool color. I did try it on it had a nice weight and felt good on. I did not get to try it in cooler or cold weather so I can't review it on that. The problem was Backcountry put another jacket from Northface I wanted on sale so I returned this one.
