Hi Cathy - these are not waterproof - the Vindicator GTX is a Gore-Tex version of this shoe, and totally waterproof.

Have a narrow, flat foot. Too much arch support causes pain.

This would be a descent way to go. You might also look at La Sportiva. Fitwise they sound like they're right up your alley.Hope that helps.
