Whether it's a cold day in The Needles or you're gearing up for your first ascent up the Tetons, The North Face Men's Verto Micro Hooded Jacket gives all the warmth and mobility you need. Its Pertex Quantum GL shell makes this jacket seriously featherweight, and the sides, shoulder, and hood have an excellent four-way stretch fabric that moves with you while you pull, crank, and climb your way to the top. Since climbing is hard work and you're bound to get warmed up, FlashDry technology pushes perspiration out of your underarms so you and the jacket stay dry for all-day comfort on the wall.

Since down has an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio but does pose a problem when it gets wet, The North Face used water-resistant goose down in this 800-fill down jacket so it'll insulate your core while resisting wetness at the same time. Its elasticized hood seals cold gusts from blowing down your body. The North Face added some extra insulation around the collar to keep your neck warm and comfy while you belay. If it gets too warm, you can stuff the jacket in its own pocket and clip it to your harness. Sleek hem and cuff construction reduces bulk and fits the jacket closer to your body so you stay cozy and warm from the bottom of the mountain all the way to the top.

Awesome technical jacket!...

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I have seen that for some people this jacket is "fragile" or "not warm enough"... well, this jacket was designed for keeping your core warm and be super lightweight... I bought this jacket because its perfect for an adventure race, it keeps you warm but not that much, and the thin fabric in the arms helps you to cool down while trail running or bicycling.... I wouldn't recommend this jacket if you are expecting to be super warm o use it as a outer layer.

Another thing to say is that The North Face Verto Micro Hooded Jacket is beautiful! I love it, and all my friends are always saying how much they like it too!

Good luck!

awesome, high quality, not super warm

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

this jacket is one of my favorites these days. it's high quality, extremely lightweight and compressible, but obviously it's just not very warm. As long as you don't expect it to serve as an outer layer you're good to go! I wear mine over base layers under my softshell.

I have a zephyrus, which I love and was expecting this to be better. I got this and found that there was absolutely nothing to the sleeves. I found this to be a bit deceptive. I am not sure if I just had unrealistic expectations or what. All in all this is just a vest with a single layer cloth hood and arms. The hood and arms are NOT water or wind proof in the least either. Just a head's up. Otherwise, I love the body, just with there has been a little bit more to it.

great jacket but major design flaw

nope, wait a second huge big ginormous design flaw. i got the jacket in the spring and on paper and in the book it looked good. i got to use it in spring conditions and early fall. love the jacket, its unbelievable as long as you dont wear a backpack! the moment that you put a backpack on your back gets sweaty which totally soaks the down in the jacket and then you end up with the back of the jacket full of water in the down. how no one saw it coming through the production line - thats a mystery! i'm a big fan of north face but obviously this jacket is not expedition proof. i know they claimed they fixed it for the fall with the water resistant down and here is a place to remind you that it is not waterproof - i believe your sweat will soak the down. i would not recommend buying this jacket if you are planning to wear it with a backpack. on the other hand when you wear that jacket alone without a jacket, it is fantastic! everything that i want from a lightweight jacket. the colors are good, the cut is great, it fits good and i love the sleeves on it.

This jacket is one of my all-time favorites! Whether it is cold and windy or cool and calm, you will still be comfortable in this jacket. It is extremely light and with all of the Summit Series perks, you will be as dry and mobile as you could be. Also, if you step inside your house or anywhere indoors, you will not be quick to unzip because it is so lightweight. Take my word for it, step into the Summit!
