Description

A boot fit for fancy footwork in the mountains.

The North Face Women's Verbera Hiker GTX Boot was born from the minds of athletes who recognized a need for a lightweight, fully featured hiking boot focused on technical terrain. Burly backpacking boots make sense on long-haul treks, but for those early-morning summit pushes through weather and up to 10,000 feet, it's nice to have something a little more nimble on your feet. Enter the Verbera with its Gore-Tex weatherproofing, grippy Vibram sole, and medium-volume last.

  • Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane protects your feet from moisture outside (foul, wet weather) and allows sweaty moisture inside your boots to escape to the outside
  • Boot last has a medium-volume shape, it's narrower in the heel and achilles for control, and it features a roomier forefoot and tapered toebox to accommodate thicker hiking socks and swollen toes
  • Ventilation from ballistic mesh helps keep your feet cool, and the tough nubuck leather upper shrugs off sharp rocks and trail hazards
  • Northotic Pro footbed uses upgraded EVA material and a cushioned, Poron ReSource heel to soak up impact
  • Cradle heel cushioning and SR2 insole board provide support for carrying heavy loads but still allow for enough response so you can feel the trail below your feet
  • Vibram outsole has durable, reliable build and offers supreme traction on everything from wet, loamy trails to loose, rocky desert terrain

Runs Small/Narrow

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Got these as a gift...nice, but I found them to be very uncomfortable after a days' hike; you don't want the fit to be sloppy, but it felt like foot-binding, total torture! I've regular width feet...I'd say they run a size small. I got the McMurdos for winter, love them, but had to go up a whole size in those, too. Trudged some swampy areas, and crossed some shallow streams and stayed dry; good traction, too. Hope they break-in some more. Still have my last pair of N.F. "hikers", they were not the most comfortable either (went 1 size larger in those to accomodate hiking socks), they are still in pretty fair shape (about 4 years old). Maybe there's a better brand(?), or maybe it's just my feet (?). Well, they beat the Nike's I used to wear hiking around in!
