Keep the lightweight, packable The North FaceMen’s Venture Parka stashed in your day pack or car and be ready for unexpected downpours or predicted storms. The highly breathable HyVent DT or eco-friendly Hyvent DT EC materials prevents water from permeating through the membrane and the fully taped seams top off the waterproof capabilities. The North Face designed the Venture Parka with an extended back length to ensure full upper body coverage and gave you precise fit adjustment with both waist and hem drawcords.
Variants market with a 'T' include the new HyVent DT EC, whose waterproofing coating is made from 50% renewable castor oil, 50% standard polyurethane
Bottom Line: From wet trails to soaked city streets.
Will, Thanks for your question. The difference between the Venture Parka and the Venture Jacket is the length of the jacket. Check the Center Back measurements, Venture Jacket to Venture Parka, for reference. I hope this is helpful for you.
I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs, so finding a good waterproof jacket that's long enough to cover my belt line was no easy task but the Venture Parka fits the bill. Great jacket, keeps the water out and packs small and light for any adventures in the woods or europe...would have been 5 stars but it does get a little clammy.

I have got an m size and it fits perfect. I am 185 cm tall and 104 inches chest and 85 kg. Not too loose not to fit. I can wear a shirt and a softshell jacket under it and it does not feel tight at all. The extra lenght compared with the jacket is perfect for covering below the waist on rainy days, regarding the waterproofnes it works perfectly, but there can put a little warm or sticky, the pit zips vent could help. The pockets are mesh and roomy. The inside pockets are kind of small. The hood adjust perfectly to the head, on the sides and in the back. You can adjust the parka in the waist and the hem. You can get the perfect fit. The cuffs have velcro, and you can stow the parka into the left pocket. I got the brown for 78 bucks, great deal. I have to say that it is only a shell, not to be wear alone, Bottom line: perfect lightweight rain shell
Get the large. I'm 5'10", 42" chest, 36" waist and about 200 lbs. It fits will with enough extra room for a layer of fleece or a sweater but not too big without an extra layer. The medium would likely be too small. I really like the parka.
Can someone explain how this jacket stows in it's own pocket? I've had a very careful look at the jacket (black, not the T-version) and it does not have a two way zipper, and the mesh pocket is attached in multiple points. Pictures would be awesome.
Hey there, the jacket stows into the LEFT HAND pocket. Reach your hand inside it and pull it out, thus inside out and begin stuffing the jacket into the back of the pocket... when its all in, you will be able to close the zipper, just inside out...
Not only are there adjustable elastic hem and waist drawcords, there are two adjustable elastic drawcords in the hood, making it a perfect fit for anyone. It also has pit zips for those warm rainy days or hikes through a rain forest.
Yes, North Face is a good brand, but I'm not a fan of labels or writing on my clothes, so I only gave it four stars because the logo's on the chest and back and there's even "HY VENT" embroidered on one cuff (these are taped on the inside so they're waterproof) . It's one of the best rain parka shells around though!
I am 5'9 and weigh 155-160, I am wondEring if I should get this North Face Parka or a North Face Resolve jacket. I heard the parka was longer than the regular jackets. I want my jacket average size, not too long and not short. What size is recommended? Thanks!
It sounds like the Resolve may be a better option for you. I am 5'8" at 165 and broad shouldered and prefer a large jacket, as it offers more coverage and layering options without being overly bulky.
Just for more information . . . I'm 6'1" and 170lbs (small build). I ordered a large and it swallowed me up. But the parka looked great, so I'm returning it for a Medium.
I'm 5-9, 165 lbs, wear a 40R sport coat and have a 32-inch waist, a 17-inch neck and only 32-inch arms. I want to wear this parka over a 300 polartec fleece jacket that is 28 inches from the top of the shoulders to the bottom. What size should I buy? Medium or large?
I'm a 5'4" 150-lb. woman who likes her rain gear to fit long and loose, so I ordered a Men's size Medium.
I loved: - the long length: it covered my bum when standing, and though it's not long enough to sit on, it still goes to the chair when you're sitting, so no rain sneaks down your waistline. - the adjustable hood, which is big enough to accommodate a ponytail and still keep my glasses dry - the long pit zips, which really help for venting - the large mesh pockets, accessible from outside and inside - the option to tuck the whole jacket into one pocket - the color (red) - the straight fit around the body (as opposed to the tapered women's fit) - the adjustable cord at the waist - the velcro at the wrists
The only thing that didn't work for me: - the straight fit hugged my hips too tight and made it ride up. It's definitely made for men (or women whose hip-width is smaller than their shoulder-width).
So I exchanged the Men's M for a Women's XL in the same model (Venture Parka) and am now as happy as a clam. I could've gotten by with a Women's L but it would've been too snug for my liking.
See my review under the Women's Venture Parka for my opinions on the waterproofness, breathability and warmth.
The Backcountry exchange process was extremely easy. I had absolutely no shipping or billing problems at all.
My 6-year-old daughter loves her jacket. It is warm and light for playing in Ontario's snowy winter. The jacket did fit a bit small and we needed to change it for the next size up, but backcountry made the return process very easy. I would recommend this jacket for anyone.
it's decent. unlined, which will help, but if you are biking, you'll probably want something a little more breathable like event or something with a lot of venting, like really long pit zips
Write your question here.. I am 6' 1" and weigh 200lbs with a 32-34" waist. My issue is usually arm length. I wear a 36 arm length in dress shirts. Will this coat work for me? I want it to not be short in the arms, but I don't want to look like I have room enough for another adult to fit inside the coat. Also how versatile is this coat. I had an eddie bauer uninsulated goretex shell that I could wear without any other layers from summer to winter until it was stolen. Thx
John, I'm also 6'1" and weigh 185 -33 waist. my dress shirt is 34/35 and i get away with a medium in the Venture. I could go to large, but the medium is a more tapered fit, and the arm length is fine, so i bet a large would be good on you. this is also a shell jacket like your Eddie Bauer, but it's not gore-tex, so it may not be as breathable as a true eVent or Gore shell. this jacket has pit zips which help a lot for venting. i'm able to wear mine over layers like a merino baselayer and a fleece mid layer no problem. cheers!

I'm 6-2 185, and wear a 17 size neck collar with 35 inch sleeves. I plan on using this jacket as a shell over several layers - like a light sweater with a denali fleece.
I'm leaning towards an XL. Do you think that's the right size?
I'm from the Washington DC area and since Decemeber the area has been under a blanket of snow or the cover of rain. In dec I realized that apart from a great pair of columbia snow boots my winter and wet gear was either 20 years old or gone. I purchased this to be my spring/ fall rain gear, and I stayed perfectly dry underneath it thus far. I've worn it out on days when the dc area received a 3-4 inches of rain over a 2-3 day period.
what is the differents between VENTURE PARKA and BOULDER JACKET NO.4023 1.FROM TECH SPECS 2.FROM CUT(is it true that the BOULDER cut is bigger?) thanks.
Perfect coat when a light coat is needed w/a hood. I bought a cheaper TNF version at Dicks and took it back. This has a better length, nicer inside and pockets. Worth the extra money. You get what you pay for. Highly recommended.
My son is about 6' and weighs approx. 190. His neck size is 16 1/2 and arm length 34/35. What size should I get? He doesn't want it to be too loose, but of course, fit comfortably.
My husband is 6'4", 220lbs and usually needs a 36/37 sleeve length in dress shirts. Should I get him the XL or XXL in the Venture Parka? My biggest concern is arm length.
I am 6'2'' and 200, athletically built (wide shoulders, broad chest, big rib cage). I'd like the jacket to fit snugly, but not restrictively. Comfortably, but not baggy. What size should I get. And would the jacket version be too short for me? Thank you :)
With the fit you're looking for and with your measurements I'd go with an XL. Double X is going to be too baggy and L is going to be too tight. Hope that helps.
I bought this for my boyfriend as a Valentine's Day gift, 3 days before V-day. It arrived on time, in perfect condition. The jacket is warm, and confortable. He has barely taken it off since he got it. I am sure he would reccomend this to anyone looking for a rain/wind jacket.
I am interested in researching any other jacket suggestions of equal or better waterproof-ness to the Venture Parka (with pit-zips) BUT with an alternative to the storm flaps.. Such as a taped zipper. Although I DO like the length of the parka and would like a longer-type jacket as apposed to a normal Jacket fit up to the hips. Please help if you are familiar with any other similar jackets It is very much appreciated!
Bought this to take to Alaska knowing I would run into rain sometime there. Took a float plane trip into the wilderness and as I thought it rained on us. The parka did all I was hoping it would, Light weight because we were very limited on weight we could take there and my camera equipment took up most of that. The extra length worked out well. Didn't bind me up moving around to take pictures. It did what it was suppose to do
I tried on an XL TNF Venture jacket at the store the other day and i didn't like the length of it on me. Im 6.3'' 210lbs. I was thinking of going with TNF Venture Parka instead. Is the Parka the same exact jacket just longer? and do you think TNF Venture Parka in XL would be a good choice?
Go with the Parka. I bought both, and the Parka makes the most sense under any condition. It is "rain gear," you are buying, so it needs to protect the most area as possible. The jacket doesn't do the job nearly as well as the parka. I don't think most people know there even is a parka version of the Venture. Otherwise there would be a lot of reviews on it.

I have this jacket. And it says you can stowe it in the left pocket. Dose anyone know how to do it and make it look right? I am just tucking it in the hood wrapping it in the draw string. Any help with this.
The left pocket is built so you can pull the entire jacket into it. Then there is a zipper you can close so it all becomes encapsulated in a mesh pocket.
