Pretty good rain pants

I like how light and thin they are, not rubbery or anything. They roll up and fit so nice in a backpack. They have zippers for your boots and also have Velcro at the bottoms so you can close them tighter to your boots. And I love that they have pockets that zip shut! The are not very fitted, but that's ok- they're just rain pants.. We don't need to win any fashion shows, only need to stay dry :) Happy with my purchase.

    Good Rain Pant

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:True to size

This is my first rain pant and I had the opportunity to use it on a recent backpacking trip. My legs stayed dry as expected. A full zip down the side may work better for backpacking (quicker access to put on). For something I may use 1-2 times a year, this will do the trick :)

    Suitable for what I needed

These pants actually don't look too bad! They have enough room for a few layers without looking like MC Hammer pants like most of the others I've seen. I bought these because they come in a short length, which works out perfectly at 5'1". Overall, these pants have held up in the springtime rain up in the Uintas with no leaks - I'm satisfied.

Do I need to size up if I plan to wear these over other layers or are they sized for layering already? Example: long underwear and hiking pants as base layer would use these over to block wind and rain when encountered.

Do these zip or fasten in some way on the side? If so is it the whole length of the leg or just part? I'm wondering how easy to put on and take off they might be for backpacking.

There are velcro straps around the ankles and zippers that zip open about 6'' up the leg. They are pretty easy to take on and off. There's no button or zipper to close them, but there is a drawstring to tighten them (it works just okay).
