Classic year-round rainwear constructed with recycled fabrics and designed to withstand wilderness storms.

When black clouds descend from above the canyon, reach into your backpack for The North Face Women's Venture Jacket. The waterproof, breathable HyVent 2.5-layer membrane and fully taped seams easily shed water and keep you bone-dry while you make your way back to camp. Constructed with 100% recycled nylon ripstop fabric, the Venture gives you eco-friendly vibes while you endure pelting rain or sleet. Underarm vents ditch excess heat, a fully adjustable hood with hidden drawcord system shields your head and face from the elements, and the brushed chin-guard lining offers comfort when you zip all the way up. The Venture's adjustable hook-and-loop cuffs, hem cinch-cord, and center-front zip and hook-and-loop closure seal out wet weather so you stay dry even during heavy rain cycles. Two zippered hand pockets stash your lip balm, cell, or energy goo, and the entire jacket stows in one of the hand pockets when the sun comes out.

The title of this review should be enough to sway your decision. You will definitely get the best bang for your buck with this jacket! I've used this jacket as a coxswain rowing crew, at the climbing crag in the dewy Spring time in Utah, and like the title suggests, I've used this jacket in the Pacific North West. This jacket is great for activities when faced with precipitation. It's also great for casual wear when it's misty or rainy out.

You'll definitely want to use this jacket as a layer since the material is so thin. I typically wear a puffy or fleece underneath on a cold day.

The fabric is pretty durable and the ultimate fit runs large. I say it runs large because it's a boxy fit, rather than curvy and feminine... because it's a boxy fit- it makes a great layering piece.

    i'm 5'4" and 115lbs ...... 1.6m and 52 kg. for reference.

I have a size M and I love it because I can wear multiple layers with it.

underarm vents and adjustable hood are definitely a plus for ventilation! The jacket is fully taped meaning it's sealed really well. The jacket retains heat well too. If the weather decides to change on you while you wear the jacket, you can easily roll it up and pack it away in a small easy to reach place.

I recommend for any chick who needs a versatile light rain jacket.

    Have fun!

    Perfect Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this jacket a couple years ago to bring with while studying abroad in Europe. I wore a cheap fleece under it until we hit warmer countries and it was the perfect combo! This jacket has zippers for ventilation that came in handy while hauling our 45 lbs backpacks without having to unload the bags to cool off. I wore this jacket EVERYDAY for three months.. (except the one day it actually down poured). I still wear it regularly and absolutely love it!

    Perfect Jacket

    No Frills, Just Quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Small

I knew I wanted a Northface for a long time, and finally went for it. No regrets! It has a simple, straightforward design and actually works. I coach high school soccer and will be wearing this for all those rainy 80-minute matches!

    Rain won’t hold me back

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This was for my sister. She says, "This is a mid-weight sturdy rain jacket. It does not fold up tiny like some jackets but I can see that this one will last a long time. The hood has an elastic on the brow that keeps it easily on your head. The underarm vents are great. Pockets are a good size and has deep interior pockets to keep your phone dry. The size medium is perfect for layering a fleece underneath and has just enough length to keep your bottom dry too. Comfortable, functional and fashionable."

great jacket boxy, binds at hips

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M

was disappointed by the boxy shape -- wide at waist, then hit awkwardly & tight at hips. i'm a small but went with medium -- I recommend sizing up 1 from your normal size if you plan to be able to wear another slightly bulky layer, like TNF osito or packable down jacket under this, which is why I got M. the small was too snug for mobility with the extra layer.

if you can get this at a killer deal, totally worth it. this is a great lightweight packable jacket with pit zips to get the job done keeping you dry and not overheating. however, if the price is the same as the marmot precip, i went with that instead for the following reasons: a more fitted hourglass silhouette, longer coverage not binding at the waist, fast elastic adjusters instead of velcro, and most of all, the ability to fold down and stow away the hood (you're stuck with the hood flopping on the venture.) the precip is also slightly less 'whooshy' fabric than the venture.

    Great Lightweight Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

I am 5'0", about 135 lbs and purchased an XS. It fits great. It's a little tight around the hips and doesn't cinch in at the waist, which is something that I like. I just took it for it's first test drive at Yellowstone National Park. It held up great in the storms and cold weather. Although it's no softshell, It was about 32 degrees at the top of Mt. Washburn and the jacket kept the rain, fog, and wind out. I love the under arm vents which let's you breathe a bit on a strenuous hike. Overall, it's a great lightweight jacket.

    Excellent Choice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: small

I bought this jacket in budding green. Love the color. I love how it fits and how it feels. It folds up to take with you on vacation and doesn't wrinkle. Hardly takes any room. Wore it today in it's first rainstorm and it kept me completely dry. Great jacket. Would highly recommend it!

Didn't get to try it out!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: lg

Although I loved the look and fit of this jacket I did not get to try it out. I did not like the rubbery feel of the inside of jacket therefore I returned without wearing and ordered different style. I gave 4* because everything else claimed about it was true and it seems like its trailworthy just didn't
    like feel.

The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small

Intro: got this for a camping trip in Moab where rain was in the forecast.

This is a great jacket. It keeps me very dry, hood fit wells. I have also used it as a wind breaker, and it's great for that, too.

Size: I normally wear a small in TNF. Bought this in a small, fits perfectly. I'm 5'10", 130 lbs.

    Fantastic All-around jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Great cut, allowing excellent movement. Integrated hood sits well- without killing your peripheral vision or slogging a droop across your face (you know what i mean if you wear a hood in heavy rain). a little butt-coverage, not much, but ok for a little rain. Groovy electro-laminated seam, innovative material- I hope it lasts!

I believe I ordered the Venture Jacket, but I did not write down the order number & have not received any confirmation! ! Would it be possible to look this up by my name? ?

I am looking for a waterproof jacket to double as an outer shell for a down North Face jacket I have. Would this be appropriate, or would the Resolve jacket be better? I'm looking for more than a flimsy and lightweight rain coat (I have one of those), but something that can also be wind-resistant.

    Thanks!

Hi I am going to Finland during Christmas. I plan to wear a fleece jacket, down jacket (inside) and a wind jacket (outside) and want to buy a wind jacket now. I consider two jackets, The North Face RDT Rain Jacket - Women's and The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's. May I have your opinion which one is suitable for me?

    Hey Wing Man,

Sounds like an awesome trip! I don't think this is the right jacket for your trip, though. This is more of a summer rain jacket. I'd rather have you in a Gore-Tex jacket. Gore-Tex is guaranteed to be waterproof and windproof. HyVent is more permeable and will let more heat escape and high winds through. Your insulation layers are fine, but you need a good protection layer to allow the insulation layers to do their work. If you don't want to take a Gore-Tex layer, I'd recommend the North Face Inlux. The insulation in the jacket will help keep the cold out and your body heat in. I think it's the best bang for your buck as far as insulated jackets go.

Am Asian and I will fit a M base on your chart. But I'm concern if I do layering, should I get one size bigger?

    Hi Eleanor,

The venture jacket runs large, in a lot of other brands (Mountain Hardwear, Outdoor Research, Marmot) I can't wear anything smaller than a medium in jackets but with the venture I had to buy a small and I can still wear a couple of layers underneath and it still fits perfectly. Hope this helps :)

    Hey Lynn,

This jacket does come in XL, XXL and 3XL. We currently have some color option in XL and we have been able to get this in stock in XXL but are currently sold out. It doesn't look like we have been able to get the 3XL in stock which isn't a surprise since it looks like even The North Face is sold even currently sold of that size.
