The North Face Venture Jacket is a lightweight, waterproof breathable jacket great for trekking and travel use. Keep the Venture Jacket in your pack or suitcase and you'll be ready for an unexpected downpour. Despite being lightweight, the HyVent DT fabric is tough enough to stand up to everyday use. HyVent DT is a highly breathable, waterproof fabric with a raised microdot inner surface that acts to lift the shell fabric away from your skin. This provides a comfortable, soft, easy-sliding feel while maximizing moisture transport away from your skin. The result: you stay drier and warmer. This combination of waterproofing and breathability makes the Venture ideal for keeping the elements out. *Please note: TNF outerwear tends to run a size larger than you might normally wear. Please consult the sizing chart to determine your proper TNF size.
Bottom Line: The North Face Venture Jacket keeps you dry and comfortable without draining your wallet.
This is a nice jacket. Very light weight. Blocks wind and rain well. The hood does not stay up well. Rather large on me, no outlet for a zip in liner, and I thought there was. But since it is large I can wear a large sweatshirt underneath. Very expensive for what it actually it.
I love my jacket, the fit is great and it really keeps me dry. Other reviews mentioned that it fits large but I didn't find that to be true, I'm 5'7" and 115 lbs and the small was perfect, and the arms weren't too short-which is always a problem for me. It works great on it's own on warmer rainy days and it's also perfect for layering over a fleece when it's colder. Great jacket and great price, thanks!!!!
i needed a rain jacket, and this was the most amazing choice. i wear it sooo much even on days it isnt raining haha. i def def def encourage everyone to buy this jacket. i am going to purchase every color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to return my Venture Jacket and get a replacement one! It was because the waterproofing got washed out of it after 2 careful washings; something I feel was the fault of the manufacturer's label which didn't mention that a special Tech Wash should be used in order to maintain the weatherproofing and breathability. This site was wonderful to work with in ordering a replacement jacket, and their customer service ranks up with Nordstrom or higher as far as I'm concerned! I got my new jacket within 3 days. I am now more educated as to what to use for my new Venture Jacket when I wash it and the problem is solved. Thanks!
I am very pleased with this jacket. Great function....very good fit. I am 5'6" 125 lbs. and I ordered a Medium. I am happy with the sizing. My only complaint is that I wish the pit zips had mesh. The hood is very good. It's functional as it truly protects you from the elements. In cooler weather, I wear a hoody under the jacket or even a fleece. It's a very lightweight jacket and the fit accommodates a extra layer nicely. I have worn it one several day hikes and couldn't be happier. It folds up to next to nothing and fits in my backpack perfectly. Nothing bulky about it. It's a keeper.
Who knew I could like a rain jacket this much? I have one of these already and am shopping for another in a different color because I like it so much. Tried the Marmot Precip out of curiosity and it doesn't feel nearly as comfortable against my skin as The North Face Venture does. (It's a bit "stickier" while the Venture is smooth and cool and doesn't stick to your skin at all like rain jackets can and often do.) Someone complained about the cut/fit saying it was too baggy and I couldn't disagree more. This is cut perfectly and looks so great on, with just enough room at shoulders, hem/hips. (Marmot Precip is large in bust/shoulder area but skimpy at hip so it's snug when you zip it shut. *Not* good unless you are an "apple" body shape.) Besides all the other great features, pit zips, generous pockets, stows in left pocket, adjustable hood, hem and cuffs, the thing I like about this the most is how breathable the fabric is, how it feels light and cool on without that rain jacket sticky & stuffy feeling. My spring, summer, fall companion.
This is a great little rain jacket. Very stylish, functional, and most of all good value. I wore this everyday when I was in Alaska and it worked perfectly...I did not get wet once through it and it kept me warm!
I actually ordered two of these because I couldn't decide on what color. I order the Sea Foam Green and the Jewel Blue. I really liked the blue color as the green was a little too light. However, I sent both jackets back as I did not like the fit. I ordered an extra small and it was very short and wide fitting. I ended up sticking with the Marmot PreCip jacket which fits a lot better and it a little longer than the North Face. It has more of an hourglass shape. The North Face was made well and very light weight, but for a small framed person like me, it didn't fit well at all.
This was my first internet purchase and it was a wonderful experience. My daughter requested this for Christmas to save her from the rainy Oregon days walking to class. She loves it. Lightweight easy to throw in a backpack and worn with a sweatshirt or fleece keeps her toasty.
Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She loves it. It's very thin and light weight but made well and does it's job. She also commented that the hood has a nice fit to it that does not fall off like her older rain gear.
I chose the ''foam green' color and received a compliment on the color of my jacket the day I received it! Luckily for me it was raining the day it arrived, so was able to try it out immediately. I love how light it is (will pack up nicely in the backpack when hiking), comfortable fit (adjustable sides and hood), and of course, just looking stylin' in it helps bring a little sunshine to a rainy day ;-)
The Venture Jacket is lightweight, easy to pack and keeps the rain out. It also folds up into one of its pockets. Too bad its hood doesn't fold up into a collar.
I love this jacket! I just got back from a 3 mile walk with my dog in the pouring rain and I'm totally dry....my feet and legs, unfortunately, are not. I guess I need to order some rain pants. This coat is very light weight and can be stuffed into any small space easily. It's definitely the "perfect fit" for someone that lives in Western Washington and faces all the rain that we have. Thanks!
This jacket is great. I have had it for a couple of weeks and i wear it running as well as for casual wear. It has no lining but it is perfect for those cold, rainy runs.
I love this jacket. I needed waterproof gear for an adventure race that lasted 20 hours. Fortunately it did not rain, but I needed it for the wind resistance on the bike. It was 30 degrees, and this jacket helped as an outer layer. The pit vents came in handy. It's way cute and I will wear it often. Love the color too.
OK, so I needed a rain jacket that would be comfortable in South GA heat but would keep me dry; this Venture Jacket is perfect! I ordered it a size larger so I could add my fleece under it in the winter and, needless to say, I'm ready for the rain!
great jacket. bought it to go hiking in utah and az during the summer. I came in handy many times. it is lightweight and breathable and blocks the north rim wind effectively. take note--the jacket runs big. i usually by a medium but got a small in this jacket and it fits great. very happy with it.
Living in the northwest we get a LOT of rain but we also get a lot of wind so it's stupid to carry an umbrella around. I tried several different jackets before I found this one. I was looking for something that was completely waterproof yet comfortable enough to wear every day. This met and exceeded all of my expectations.
Relatively inexpensive, lightweight, waterproof. What more could you ask for? This jacket is everything it promised to be. My friends are amazed at how light it is and that it is still able to repel water the way it does. I have no complaints at all!
This jacket gets so many stares and compliments it's unbelievable. The deep pockets and adjustable hood are wonderful. Very breathable so you can feel comfortable in the nastiest weather. No more rain in your face, if you don't have an umbrella no problem you'll still be dry.
I bought the North Face Venture to have thin, packable, rain/wind gear. I am a mom of 2 kids and am outside a lot. I also don't have room for bulky things. The jacket is exactly what I needed. I am prepared for the unexpected rain shower. Also great for running. It's very thin, folds up small to fit in most diaper bags, or carry on bags, also the jacket to take traveling. Of course, I think it looks cute too, the powder blue looks great with jeans, khakis, black pants or running shorts.
This jacket is fabulous! It keeps you dry and you look good in it, very flattering. I wish it was a little bit warmer but the fact that it is so light makes it easy to fold up and stick in your purse! Perfect for Vancouvers rainy fall and spring!
This jacket pretty much lived up to its description and my expectations. The only thing I wish I had known beforehand is that the fit is a little on the baggy side - good if you're layering over bulkier stuff. But if you want a trimmer fit maybe try a smaller size. Other than that, I'm very pleased with its performance.
I needed a lightweight raincoat for the tropics and ordered a North Face coat in celadon. Loved the jacket, hated the color. My departure date was looming, so I shipped the coat back for an exchange via next day service, and my new color choice arrived just a few days later - well in time to pack it up and go. Thanks for the great customer service.
Awesome jacket, great fit, and very stylish. Love the liquid blue colour. Very pleased with price even with conversion. And so impressed with delivery service. Thanks guys. You have a new Kiwi customer!
I love this jacket - I love North Face, but their products could be better if the Velcro wasn't where it would catch on everything it comes into contact with.
I love this jacket. I am in New Zealand's fall season; lots of rain - up to 4m/year. Size was good - it didn't seem to run small like lots of outdoor gear - medium is for a medium size person. It looks nice enough to wear into the office, and goes tramping with me everywhere. The fit is a nice shape for a woman too, follows the curves right. And free shipping and no tax!
I originally bought this jacket for my trip to Peru. I was pleased to find that my Denali fleece fit underneath the jacket, just in case I encountered cold rain. It's most definitely waterproof and really durable! I was recently in a flood area and was outside a lot during the torrential rains wearing nothing but this jacket. It kept me warm and dry throughout the whole ordeal. Now my boyfriend is looking to purchase one. I love it (and all other North Face products)!
The jacket was nicer then what I had even thought it would be. I am a size 8 and I ordered the Medium. It fit me just right. It did not fit me too tight as I will be wearing it over clothes. Plenty of room.
I bought this jacket last year, for myself, and have found the jacket useful in a variety of conditions: Light Rain, Flooding, Cold weather. I have enjoyed it so much that I bought the most recent one for my sister, and she is enjoying it as well. I highly recommend this jacket!
I bought this jacket as a replacement to a well loved Patagonia shell that was lost on a trip. I looked at the Marmot Precip too, but decided on this jacket because it had a much better, less boxy fit. It has kept me dry and happy during some major thunderstorms this summer too. If you're looking for a shell that has some girly appeal while still standing up to the elements, this jacket is for you.
I've been searching for a waterproof jacket that would be comfortable, fits well, and of course be cute. This exceeds all the above! It packs nicely in my daypack when we hike, and I'm looking forward to taking it with my for my backpacking trip this summer. By the waygreat service and such quick shipping!
I ordered the jacket for my daughter. I think it will serve its purpose as a rain jacket for her at college, but I must say that I don't understand the need for it to cost so much. I shop a lot, so it's not that I am unaware of the cost of items these days, but it doesn't even have a lining or anything special besides the brand-name that I can see would cause it to cost so much. I have seen other brands for far less. However, my daughter is in college and wanted the North Face brand. I plan to keep the jacket because she is happy with it (but she doesn't know how much it cost). But I would not purchase another one, or recommend it to others now that I've seen the quality of it.
We purchased this jacket for our daughter as both a foul weather jacket for sailing and a waterproof shell for skiing. As you know, it has been the wettest spring on record here in the Northeast, and it has been an indispensable part of her wardrobe. It is lightweight, comfortable, and comes in a great assortment of colors. She can attest to how waterproof it truly is.
I wore the jacket once and liked how it protected me from the rain, but honestly it was too big, so I sent it back. I like my jackets to be functional while still being a jacket that I can wear everyday, whether I'm hiking or walking around town. It was just really wide in the middle. Maybe a smaller size would have worked better.
I bought this jacket because of all the great reviews on this site. Overall, it does seem like a really great, well-made jacket. However, the fit for me was way off. I'm 5'9" and I usually wear a medium, but I bought a small since some of the reviewers said it can run a little baggy. Even the small is too big and boxy for me. The picture makes the jacket look cute and somewhat fitted, but when I tried it on it looked nothing like that. I'm disappointed that I'll have to send it back.
I've had this jacket for 6+ months now, but I've never had the chance to use it! Now that fall has come to the Northeast and we've been getting some remnants of hurricanes/tropical storms, I've been putting it to good use in the torrential rains we've had. It's proven to hold up very well! I'm perfectly dry and happy from the waist up, thanks to the material and the hood. Thank you, North Face! Will definitely and have already bought from again!
I was very disappointed after receiving this jacket. I love most things North Face, but this jacket did not look good or feel good. I'm sure it does its job in the rain, but for the price I would also like it to look good and not feel icky against my skin.
I originally purchased the Venture Jacket for myself a few months ago. Since then I have bought one for both my dad and mom for their respective birthdays. I can't say enough good things about this North Face jacket. It keeps me dry in the rain and the hood works great.
I bought this Jacket for my wife who takes the bus to work each day. We live in Central Florida where it rains almost everyday during summer. I wanted to give something light, & useful. The jacket is wonderful. It's light, cool, & does the job. Very please with the purchase.
This jacket is great, it is very light which is good for hiking. It has a hood and arm vents which is great when the weather starts to warm up. The material feels nice on your skin and it doesn't stick.
I moved to London recently and I needed a rain jacket that could stand up to the daily rain, but small enough to pack up into my bag. This is a great jacket. It keeps me day, albeit a little warm. My only complaint is that is runs a little big and it isn't shaped to a woman's figure like some of my other The North Face items. Seems a little more boxy. Still a great coat - you may want to size down on this one though.
I am slightly disappointed in this coat. From past reviews everyone loved it so I had high expectations. Unfortunately the picture doesn't really show what the coat is really like. It appears to be fitted through the body but in reality it's not. I felt that it was way too large through the body.
I bought this jacket after searching for an outer shell for my northface fleece. I was surprised at what I got, thinking I was ordering something more substantial, but it works. It's waterproof and roomy enough to allow me to wear my fleece under as a warmer layer. I wish Northface was more clear about what outer shells work with their fleeces. I wanted to be able to snap in the sleeves, but couldn't find anything that allowed for that.
Lightweight, water/wind resistant, very comfortable... I bought just before leaving for Europe where it was raining like crazy, and I was very thankful it was with me. The pit-vents are an excellent addition esp if you use it while hiking.
I bought the Venture Jacket for a July trip to Scotland, but have already found it perfect for our southern rainshowers. (I live on the Gulf of Mexico). The color, Nova Purple, was discontinued so I saved some money there, but it was the perfect color for me and I love it. The Venture is waterproof, lightweight and shaped to look good. The velcro-brand wrist cinches and the mesh pockets are features I looked for and found. I highly recommend the North Face Jacket and I hope to expand my color inventory.
I absolutely love this jacket! It's very functional and great for layering. It keeps me completely dry and I love how easily it compresses. I always have it in my backpack when I go to school and I'm looking forward to really breaking it in on my next backpacking trip. I ordered my size and I like the looser fit for layering but, if you want a more tailored fit order a size smaller. This is not a super warm jacket but, it is extremely functional for a wide variety of uses.
The venture jacket is very lightweight and has successfully survived a two big NYC downpours. The dynasty blue color is really pretty, although I'm a little worried that it will get dirty easily. So far, so good (after just a few weeks with the jacket, but in dirty NYC subways, etc.).
We went on a week long rafting trip and i just needed that extra little layer just in case. I love North Face products for women because the fit is true to size and the colors were lovely. This jacket also collapses into the left pocket so it's easily stashed into your pack or glove compartment. I would highly recommend adding this jacket to your gear wardrobe.
I bought my Venture jacket so I would have a lightweight, waterproof, packable jacket for the SAGBRAW Bike Tour. However, it looked so sharp and fit so well that when I received it, I found myself carrying it everywhere and using it for everything from going out to a casual dinner to attending church. It is the best little jacket I have ever had. It also kept me dry and cozy in a downpour on the ride. I'm thinking of buying another just to keep a spare in my car or as a replacement in case I damage or lose this one.
This jacket is so durable and comfy you'll wear it sunshine and rain. I found it incredibly stylish and fitting. A true find for any outdoor lover or just for living in an unpredictable climate!
I ordered this to use on rainy days in central Fl. The weight is perfect, and it does not get "sweaty" because of the design of the advanced material, even on muggy days!
This watch is just incredible! It can keep the time in two zones (which is good for me as I travel often) and lets you change between them with one click. I love being able to time my sprints when I go running and then keep them so I can compare my runs. In addition, the interval feature helps me to speed up and slow down regularly. My only complaint (and it is very minimal) is that the alarm does not sound very loudly, so it might be unreliable to wake up to. However, I still absolutely love this watch. The day I received it, I got numerous compliments on it, as it is very thin and sleek. It fits perfectly around my wrist. If I could, I would buy this watch for all of my friends!
Excellent jacket! The best rain jacket I have ever owned, for now anyway. It is very new. I run Zipline tours on Kauai (Just Live!) and spend many hours 70 feet off the ground in a rainy forest. This jacket has been a blessing on those soaking days that go on and on. The only bummer is no inside pocket. It seems to have one, but there is a hole in the bottom of it so it is very deceiving. Otherwise, its an awesome score.
This is by far my most used and adored spring/summer jacket. It has a great cut, a super cute color, its very feminine and still gives you a great range of motion. I bought this as a rain jacket and its been amazing for that (the water beads right off). I love its versatilityI find myself using it as a windbreaker, a mosquito deterrent, a lightweight layer, and a rain jacket. It packs down so small that Ive been taking it everywhere (my friends have been jealous when Ive pulled it out). Pit vents are nice, pockets are roomy, this is a great jacket!
My venture goes everywhere with me; its breathable, packs small, fits great, and its very comfortable. I wore it just now in a wicked little storm and it soaked up a bit of water but that rain was packin' some power so I am not disappointed.
i recently ordered a north face jacket that was supposed to be a rain coat the coat costs $90 it was a flimsy windbreaker that wasnt worth $20. Im sorry I had to pay the $5 to return it.
This is a nice jacket. Very light weight. Blocks wind and rain well. The hood does not stay up well. Rather large on me, no outlet for a zip in liner, more...
I love my jacket, the fit is great and it really keeps me dry. Other reviews mentioned that it fits large but I didn't find that to be true, I'm more...
