Runs big!

Love this jacket but it runs big. I'm petite and I should have ordered an xs. Very packable, the pit zips are nice too. I got plain ole black - would love to try some of the other colors.
Great Jacket, fits well!

Howdy, I'm 5'2" a 36 C cup size, and wear a loose size 9 jeans, so I have trouble finding jackets that fit correctly because of my wide hips. I got a Medium, and this jacket fits perfectly, it comes all the way down to the widest portion of my hips comfortably, and covers my back pockets in low rise jeans. I needed something that could be very versatile, from a light wind breaker in cool weather to gentle rain to torrential downpours. I also needed something that would have enough room for me to layer warmer clothes under during winter months and this is perfect in all aspects. If I need to stuff it in my back pack, it balls up perfectly, and would easily fit into one of the small pouches instead of the main pack. It's super light, the fabric is pretty quiet, and I'm really glad I got something with vents, because it gets pretty humid around here during the spring and summer.
Fits like a glove!

I ordered the Lizzie Green color, and it is true to the image! Love the color, a beautiful shade of green. Haven't tested it out in the rain yet, but seems like it will definitely do the trick. I usually wear a Small or a Medium on top, and the Medium is the perfect fit!
Does this jacket have a stowaway hood?

It has a hood, but not really a stowaway hood. It doesn't have a mechanism to be folded away into the jacket or anything.

How is the Venture jacket with wind? I go to college in North East Iowa and the wind is pretty harsh.
Also, it looks like the Lizzie Green is the same colour as the Ion Blue...are they the same? Is the Lizzie Green actually green or more aqua?

Better than I expected. I read a few reviews but definitely fits better that I thought. I am 5'1 125 lbs and it is perfect. The only reason why I have it 4 and not 5 stars is because there is not much insulation, I can still feel the wind through the jacket and I wish there was netting where the vents are, but other than that I love the color!
Excellent Jacket!

This is the perfect jacket for fall and those cool summer nights. I purchased it in the Vibrant Blue color, and am impressed at how intense this color is in person. Love it!

I bought this jacket over the summer and it is great in the rain. My question is, now that it is cold outside is there a liner that is recommended to zip inside of this jacket? I'd like to use it in the winter as well. I read somewhere that Northface products make compatible liners for all of their light jackets. Does that mean that I can order any of their fleeces and it will zip into this coat? Please advise. I'm not sure how that would work so I wanted to ask for more information. Thanks!

You can layer under this in the winter but this does not allow for other layers to be zipped into the jacket. For jackets that do this from The North Face look to their tri-climate jackets, these are 3-1 jackets that do allow for several zip in jacket combinations.

Excellent Jacket. Keeps you warm and dry. Great water resistance. My daughter had one before I got mine and I wore hers all the time, now I have my own. Just love it!

I've worn the jacket playing golf in the rain and jogging in the rain. It's fantastic-I did not get wet at all. I was able to move freely and did not feel sweaty or uncomfortable

What is the inside of jacket made of? If so is it warm?

Hey Cathy D,
Thanks for your question. When it comes to the Venture Jacket, the inner lining is very similar to the outer lining as it is more of a nylon material with a few mesh areas for the inner pockets.
Also, this is only a rain shell jacket and if you plan on wearing this jacket in colder conditions, I would put on a warm mid layer and base layer.

I live in Denver and use this jacket from September to April. Its a great shell that withstands wind and rain. Its great for biking to school and with a sweatshirt underneath, I'm both warm and dry, even in the winter. I own a lot of TNF products, but the venture is probably the most versatile one I have. Also have Marmot and MH jackets, but the Venture definitely keeps me dryer than the MH Epic. I'm 5 ft 5 and 115 lbs, the small is perfect, because I always have a relatively thick layer on underneath.

I have had this jacket for a view years, and honestly I wish I had just shelled out the extra cash to get a better coat. It is rainproof but doesn't keep me completely dry. Also I find myself sweating in it and no ventilation. The zipper also went wonky after the first month and its not super wind proof. I have some other NorthFace products that I do like, this just was not my favorite and honestly I wouldn't buy again. You should just spend the extra money on a jacket that will stand the elements and constant wear.

When I wear this product, I get sweaty on the inside from the 100% polyester lining. What is the secret to not getting wet inside from your own sweat?

Unfortunately, most rain shells around this price point do not breathe very well despite companies claims to the contrary. I would open any vents as soon as (and as open as) possible.

I agree, I have a Columbia Hail Tech http://www.backcountry.com/columbia-hail-tech-jacket-mens-col2353 and it's a fn' oven, no way around it.
