Description

Classic year-round rainwear constructed with recycled fabrics and designed to withstand wilderness storms.

When black clouds descend from above the canyon, reach into your backpack for The North Face Women's Venture Jacket. The waterproof, breathable HyVent 2.5-layer membrane and fully taped seams easily shed water and keep you bone-dry while you make your way back to camp. Constructed with 100% recycled nylon ripstop fabric, the Venture gives you eco-friendly vibes while you endure pelting rain or sleet. Underarm vents ditch excess heat, a fully adjustable hood with hidden drawcord system shields your head and face from the elements, and the brushed chin-guard lining offers comfort when you zip all the way up. The Venture's adjustable hook-and-loop cuffs, hem cinch-cord, and center-front zip and hook-and-loop closure seal out wet weather so you stay dry even during heavy rain cycles. Two zippered hand pockets stash your lip balm, cell, or energy goo, and the entire jacket stows in one of the hand pockets when the sun comes out.

Great utility

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to store. Will definitely recommend for hiking and anticipating random rainstorms! Fun colors also.

Great as a rain jacket, but really it does wonders in the wind! I recently climbed Mount Monadnock in NH, and it was very windy at the top. This jacket kept me toasty and protected, wore it around the campsite when it got damp and stayed cozy! I bought this a size up for layering purposes, and it fits like a size up should.

Great post! Thanks for her height and weight--helps know the size girl for the size jacket fit.

Unanswered Question

I'm 6'0 with pretty long arms, does anyone know the inseam for the arms? Usually 33-34 inch inseam is great for me but that usually requires ordering a tall.

thanks!

Great Purchase

  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 153 lbs
    Size Purchased: Med

I had my doubts about buying this jacket online, but it is pretty standard. The jacket is pretty, and very comfy and light to carry if you get hot in your hike, I did wear a very warm vest under the jacket.

Ready for the next Venture

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this as a gift, but have heard nothing but good feedback about it. This is the perfect jacket for smaller scale expeditions when you are expecting rain. So far it has held up to any and all types of rain, whether it be a torrential downpour or light drizzle. Particularly nice also are the hem cinch-cord as well as drawcord system for the hood allowing you to hunker down when the rains come. Finally, at under 12 oz you won't even notice it is in your pack it is so light! As far as rain jackets go, for the price and the materials, this is one of the top choices!

Odd fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5' 2"
    Weight: 130 lbs
    Size Purchased: small

I just returned two North Face items because they recently changed the fit and style to be more form fitting. I'm normally a size small, but the jacket was too long and narrow. I went to a local store and tried in the size medium, and I was swimming in it. I'm not happy they are making the new models more form fitting (if you're tall and super skinny - I'm skinny but athletic) because it does not work properly or fit properly anymore.

Great for rain forests!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Went on a hiking trip to Cerro Dantas (Costa Rica), my partner took with her this jacket and it was great. It keeps you warm and dry, even when it started raining a couple of times.

Great for rain forests!

Rain Rain

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have one of these and use it for just about everything, so naturally the lady wanted one for herself. Picked up one in a large, she normally would be the medium but we decided the large would be perfect for wearing over her down jacket during winter months and late fall weather (fits perfect). She works with sports teams and is outside a lot during late fall, since she is not doing anything extreme with it we decided it was much more cost effective to buy this instead of a high profile shell. Plus these are light enough she can use it for backpacking and hiking in the summer. For this price these jackets are extremely versatile. Not a bad option to just have in your pack just in case.

My go to jacket

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is a very light weight jacket. Don't get confused with a flimsy nothing jacket, it is very well put together; waterproof, windproof and just absolutely a very nice jacket. It doesn't look like it would keep you very warm, but don't be fooled by that either. It's a very comfortable jacket and one that I wear more than any the others as it is dressy as well as functional.

great rain coat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Being a very thin, light weight rain coat, it does not keep you the warmest. However it does exactly what it is supposed to, shield you from rain. The hood is an awesome shape and so it doesn't fall off your head all the time if you put it up.

The only downside would be it is kind of short so if you lift your arms or bend over it rides up. It's not too annoying thought.

Not a fan.......

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

The material the jacket is made out of is very flimsy and feels like it is going to rip at the slightest pull. Very thin and not worth the money.

perfect

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Jacket is super light, comfortable, and looks great. The person I got this jacket for is absolutely crazy about it. Rocks it in the rain, snow, sunshine when she wants to keep the wind off her, everything. This jacket won't do you wrong.

I am looking for a waterproof jacket to double as an outer shell for a down North Face jacket I have. Would this be appropriate, or would the Resolve jacket be better? I'm looking for more than a flimsy and lightweight rain coat (I have one of those), but something that can also be wind-resistant.

Thanks!

I tried this jacket on in a local store. It is definitely a lightweight rain shell and sounds like it might not fit your requirements. I have not tried the Resolve and don't know anything about it's build.

Hi I am going to Finland during Christmas. I plan to wear a fleece jacket, down jacket (inside) and a wind jacket (outside) and want to buy a wind jacket now. I consider two jackets, The North Face RDT Rain Jacket - Women's and The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's. May I have your opinion which one is suitable for me?

Hey Wing Man,

Sounds like an awesome trip! I don't think this is the right jacket for your trip, though. This is more of a summer rain jacket. I'd rather have you in a Gore-Tex jacket. Gore-Tex is guaranteed to be waterproof and windproof. HyVent is more permeable and will let more heat escape and high winds through. Your insulation layers are fine, but you need a good protection layer to allow the insulation layers to do their work. If you don't want to take a Gore-Tex layer, I'd recommend the North Face Inlux. The insulation in the jacket will help keep the cold out and your body heat in. I think it's the best bang for your buck as far as insulated jackets go.

Great coat

I gave this to my sister and this is what she thought, 'Was looking for a rain coat that was light weight but still kept me dry. This coat is great. I love how it fits and feels that I find myself wearing it even if it is not raining. I love the color.

Now I just want it to rain!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

Runs slightly large, but I like having the option to layer a sweater underneath if necessary. It looks nice, but don't expect the fitted-at-waist look that the picture suggests. I took this with me on a trip to Scotland where I knew I'd have some rainy hikes, and I was able to roll the jacket up and stuff it in my backpack where it took up almost no space, and when I uncrumpled it the wrinkles shook out quickly. I love the inside pocket (why don't more women's clothes have inside pockets?! I love them!) which was especially handy for traveling--keeping my phone and wallet safe and dry. It's a practical rain jacket that immediately became a staple. I was dubious about getting the Gardenia White(on sale) as I like dark colors, but I actually like it a lot.
