Description

Classic year-round rainwear constructed with recycled fabrics and designed to withstand wilderness storms.

When black clouds descend from above the canyon, reach into your backpack for The North Face Women's Venture Jacket. The waterproof, breathable HyVent 2.5-layer membrane and fully taped seams easily shed water and keep you bone-dry while you make your way back to camp. Constructed with 100% recycled nylon ripstop fabric, the Venture gives you eco-friendly vibes while you endure pelting rain or sleet. Underarm vents ditch excess heat, a fully adjustable hood with hidden drawcord system shields your head and face from the elements, and the brushed chin-guard lining offers comfort when you zip all the way up. The Venture's adjustable hook-and-loop cuffs, hem cinch-cord, and center-front zip and hook-and-loop closure seal out wet weather so you stay dry even during heavy rain cycles. Two zippered hand pockets stash your lip balm, cell, or energy goo, and the entire jacket stows in one of the hand pockets when the sun comes out.

Unanswered Question

I am looking for a waterproof jacket to double as an outer shell for a down North Face jacket I have. Would this be appropriate, or would the Resolve jacket be better? I'm looking for more than a flimsy and lightweight rain coat (I have one of those), but something that can also be wind-resistant.

Thanks!

Hi I am going to Finland during Christmas. I plan to wear a fleece jacket, down jacket (inside) and a wind jacket (outside) and want to buy a wind jacket now. I consider two jackets, The North Face RDT Rain Jacket - Women's and The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's. May I have your opinion which one is suitable for me?

Hey Wing Man,

Sounds like an awesome trip! I don't think this is the right jacket for your trip, though. This is more of a summer rain jacket. I'd rather have you in a Gore-Tex jacket. Gore-Tex is guaranteed to be waterproof and windproof. HyVent is more permeable and will let more heat escape and high winds through. Your insulation layers are fine, but you need a good protection layer to allow the insulation layers to do their work. If you don't want to take a Gore-Tex layer, I'd recommend the North Face Inlux. The insulation in the jacket will help keep the cold out and your body heat in. I think it's the best bang for your buck as far as insulated jackets go.

Great coat

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this to my sister and this is what she thought, 'Was looking for a rain coat that was light weight but still kept me dry. This coat is great. I love how it fits and feels that I find myself wearing it even if it is not raining. I love the color.

Loves it

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Purchased this for my teenage daughter for her birthday and she loves it. Lightweight, breathable, looks great. Fits true to size.

Now I just want it to rain!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

Runs slightly large, but I like having the option to layer a sweater underneath if necessary. It looks nice, but don't expect the fitted-at-waist look that the picture suggests. I took this with me on a trip to Scotland where I knew I'd have some rainy hikes, and I was able to roll the jacket up and stuff it in my backpack where it took up almost no space, and when I uncrumpled it the wrinkles shook out quickly. I love the inside pocket (why don't more women's clothes have inside pockets?! I love them!) which was especially handy for traveling--keeping my phone and wallet safe and dry. It's a practical rain jacket that immediately became a staple. I was dubious about getting the Gardenia White(on sale) as I like dark colors, but I actually like it a lot.

Rambutan Pink

Rambutan Pink

Slightly more of a coral (red/orange color family) than the Cerise Pink. Also, this one has hot pink accents.

Which pink is brighter?? Cerise or Rambuten?

Best Answer Responded on

Rambutan is more red/orange/coral-ish with hot pink accents like zippers and logos... and Cerise is more of a classic hot pink with white accents.

Really nice fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

At first I was a bit skeptical about the fabric of this jacket holding up for anything more than light hiking and around town. However, the fit is so flattering that I had to buy it. So far I have been able to stuff it in my pack to carry in case it rains, and its held up great. I will agree with other reviewers that it runs a little large. I did size down a size, and can fit a light layer under it. I think though if I wanted to put anything heavier under it, like a thick fleece, I would have gone with my normal size.

TNF Venture Rain Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I have had my venture for almost 4 years now and its just now starting to show slight signs of wear (the outer layer is beginning to peel slightly from the inner layer). I have put this jacket through a lot! Its the only full on rain jacket I own so its worn for daily use and hiking trips, it has pit zips which are super awesome, I will never buy another rain jacket without them, the hood is just the right size and stays put. The jacket recently protected me from a torrential downpour while hiking up a mountain, although I was sweating so much I still ended up drenched, this brings me to my only complaint, when you sweat a lot and your wearing a tee or tank underneath, the jacket will stick to you so I almost wish it had a mesh liner, but that would ruin the jackets packability (I frequently stash this jacket in my purse) so all in all, its an awesome jacket and very affordable compared to other brands. I definitely recommend this jacket. Note on fit, its runs slightly large, in other north face jackets along with other brands, I wear a medium but I had to get a small for this jacket and I still have room to layer fleece underneath.

Responded on

So, would the resolve be better because it has a mesh liner, is waterproof, breathable, and packable? I am a little hesitant to buy it because when I tried it on in a store I didn't like the rubbery feeling on my forearms (like an old school raincoat).

Am Asian and I will fit a M base on your chart. But I'm concern if I do layering, should I get one size bigger?

Responded on

Hey Eleanor,
The size chart goes off of body measurements and not material measurements, this jacket is made to fit layers under it, I would stay with the M for the best fit.

Responded on

Hi Eleanor,
The venture jacket runs large, in a lot of other brands (Mountain Hardwear, Outdoor Research, Marmot) I can't wear anything smaller than a medium in jackets but with the venture I had to buy a small and I can still wear a couple of layers underneath and it still fits perfectly. Hope this helps :)

Great light-weight shell! Weather-proof enough, shower tested but still waiting for it's first storm. Love that it has pit zips and packs into one of the zippered hand pockets. Good value and love all the color options.

What is the difference between the NF Venture and the NF Resolve jackets?

Best Answer Responded on

The TNF Venture is a lighter face fabric, has pit zips and zippered hand pockets. The TNF Resolve jacket has a more durable face fabric.

Responded on

The resolve is heavier than the venture, I believe it has a mesh liner and elastic cuffs whereas the venture has velcro on the cuffs so you can adjust them and it doesn't have a liner.

Perfect Rain Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket! It fits great with a feminine cut unlike some of the other jackets I have tried. lightweight and completely waterproof yet very breathable. I wear it fishing and even when the sun is out I haven't had to take it off in a rush!

Joanne,

The hood on the TNF Venture is not helmet compatible and so is normal sized. You can still easily wear a helmet over the hood if needed.

Does the Women's Resolve jacket come in a 1X or XXL?

Responded on

Hey Lynn,

This jacket does come in XL, XXL and 3XL. We currently have some color option in XL and we have been able to get this in stock in XXL but are currently sold out. It doesn't look like we have been able to get the 3XL in stock which isn't a surprise since it looks like even The North Face is sold even currently sold of that size.

The "cosmic blue chambray" looks pretty grayish online. I don't want to order it and it suddenly look like some bright unicorn blue-- is the color in the photo pretty spot on?
