The North Face Men's Venture Jacket is a lightweight, waterproof, and breathable jacket designed for hiking, backpacking, climbing-any adventure in warmer, wet conditions. The Venture features HyVent DT, a highly breathable, waterproof fabric with a raised microdot inner surface that acts to lift the shell fabric away from your skin. This provides a comfortable, soft, easy-sliding feel while maximizing moisture transport away from your skin. The result: you stay drier and warmer. The lightweight Venture jacket weighs in at a mere 12.5 ounces, has an adjustable, rollable hood, a brushed chinguard lining, and Underarm zips so you don't roast when rainy weather gets a little too warm. This highly compressible jacket stows away in its own left pocket. Other nice touches include Velcro adjustable cuffs, two hand pockets, and a hem cinchcord.
Bottom Line: All-around weather protection combined with high-tech breathability at an incredible price.
i have had a big problem. after 3 years the interior shell broke and for that reason i want to change it. i'm sure it's a manufacture problem because the jacket it is brand new. My only consolation it's the The North Face lifetime warranty.
this jacket will keep you dry no matter what. i wore it for a 5 hour deep sea fishing trip and it was dumping rain the whole time. this jacket kept me dry and comfortable, it is incredibly light.

I think the rest of reviews got it on point on this one. Whenever I'm on a hike it's always at the bottom of my pack, it rolls up very easy. I just roll it up in the hood. I have no clue how to put in the pocket. But other than that, i say get it!
Excellent jacket and quite comparable to those high priced jackets. Certainly does the trick keeping you 100% dry. Glad I got it, killer jacket and looks cool too!
Great jacket for the money. In fact, great jacket whatever it cost. Very light and does the job. I remember paying $500+ for a jacket like this not that many years ago.
I have been looking for a good lightweight rain coat for wearing around when its not winter and I found this jacket. This jacket is awesome. It is lightweight, breathes very well and has kept me dry even in the heaviest of rains here in the Northeast. I definitely recommend this jacket if you are looking for a good lightweight rain jacket.
Nice features, quality construction, light and packable. Hood can be closed up AND resized to your head so you don't get lost inside the hood when you turn to the side. The sleeve cuffs adjust and can cinch down to keep most water from running down your arm. I'm about 6'2" and got an XL and it is fine. It doesn't ride up much at all when reaching.
i live in the uk and the weather has been pants for the last few months, rain rain and more rain. the venture jacket is just right, waterproof, lightweight and breathable. i have used it on a walking holiday in the lake district and it kept the most heavy rain out, but at the same time i stayed cool. packs up into its own pocket, and goes into my rucksack no problem. another great product from north face. A+++++++.
I am so stoked that I bought this jacket finally. We just had a week of nonstop rain and I can't think of anything I don't like about this jacket. It's super light, doesn't stick to my skin, fits perfect, has 2 extra large pockets, 2 large vents and the color is unique. In fact, I have already had 2 people offer to buy it from me. Let me know if North Face needs a Sales Rep or someone to test their new gear on the East Coast.
i love this jacket. cut is good for layering and it looks well around town too. it has been very good to me. keeps me dry in downpours and it 's fairly tough too, small briars just bounce off. i love the hood design but wish it was rollable for windy days. and the side pockets sit a little high, but no big deal. breathable but it's hy-vent is no epic fabric. any rain over 75f i just get wet, you can't expect miracles.
This jacket is great for wandering around campus without concern for the weather. The features are great and even in a down pour I was kept dry. I highly recommend.
This jacket is great for early fall weather or late spring. It is easy to hike with due to its lightweight and prevents moisture from getting at your skin.
I love this jacket - wear it all the time - so light you don't know you have it - can actually be warm when you close it up - waterproof completely. Great stuff - well built.
I bought the TNF Venture Jacket right before the wettest season that Oklahoma has seen in quite sometime. It has kept me extra dry and the pit vents are an excellent feature for airing out. I highly recommend the jacket for anybody looking for some stylish, light-weight rain gear.
I just bought this jacket and the day after I received it, I got to test it out on a hard rain. I live in KY where its insanely humid and this jacket keeps me dry without giving me a muggy, wet feeling inside. Plus, its incredibly light which rocks! Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay dry.
I was looking for a jacket which is water-and windproof and very breathable. Additionally, I wanted something which can be packed easily and is not too heavy. This jacket definitely offers all of the above. It´s a good, basic jacket on which you can absolutely rely on.
I used it all around Colorado in August. It's light so you can easily pack it in a backpack for a day hike or when mountain biking. If you get the right size it fits nice and snug and stays out of the way. It keeps you dry. It has lots of pockets. The pit zips are nice and useful. It's not warm at all but it will at least break the wind, but you need layers if it gets cold or you're up very high. Does exactly what it should. No complaints.
On my trip to Europe I had rainy days in London, Rome, and Paris but not a drop got through my jacket. In a heavy downpour I would suggest wearing a baseball cap if you have the hood up. The hood blocks too much of your upward and peripheral vision, but the bill of a ball cap keeps the hood in the right spot to keep you dry but still visually aware. Great as a light windbreaker as well, and wads up nice and small to stash in a daypack. Definitely a great jacket for the price.
This jacket is just want you want if you are looking for lightweight, waterproof, and affordable. Don't pay more for another brand! I think you get the best deal with The North Face Venture Jacket.
bought for my son who lives in Indonesia - who wanted the lightest-weight, least sweaty, most rain-proof jacket I could find. He is thrilled down to his pit-zips.
This a great, versatile jacket! I bought one for myself & liked it so much that I got one for my husband, too. It's waterproof, lightweight, and easily packed or stowed. Very comfortable, too! I recommend it highly.
The jacket is just plain awesome. A gear expert pointed me to this jacket. I needed it for a 10 day camping trip in the Everglades where the weather get wet in a hurry. Several storms came thru with 30 mile an hour winds with a driving rain and not one drop got to my skin. The breathable material also helped me not to sweat any more than the 90+ degrees forced me to. I give the gear expert and the jacket an AAA+.
I have had this jacket for a little over a year and it has performed great. It is incredibly versatile highly waterproof jacket that has always performed to my needs. Bottom line is it is a high quality compressible jacket.
My husband bought this jacket for our trip to England and Scotland, both very rainy places. This jacket made it possible for us to enjoy the UK even when it was rainy. The jackets were convenient to wear when it wasn't raining and kept us impeccably dry even when it rained all day.
Perfect for summer rains in the deep south. Completely waterproof, but being light, breathable, and having zipper-controlled ventilation, it is not hot and clammy like my other rain jackets. I particularly like the adjustable hood that stays in place, and the compactness when folded.
I picked this jacket over the Pre-Cip and the Marmot Rain Shadow. I wore it in the shower, and my shirt underneath didn't get wet, plus it is a great slim fit.
Very nice jacket and waterproof so far. It's much lighter than my other waterproof jackets and is usually the first jacket I grab walking out the door. I was a fan of North Face back in the 70's when I did a lot of backpacking. I considered the Marmot Oracle but couldn't pass up the good deal on the Venture. I continue to be totally impressed with North Face.
This is a great jacket, and waterproof as advertised. It's lightweight, takes up very little space and loks well done and "assembled." I use it sometimes when playing golf, and my only complaint would be the hood, that isn't possible to fold in a proper way - it blows around my head in windy conditions.
Nice lightweight waterproof jacket at great price. I wanted that all purpose light weight jacket that was waterproof that was not too warm for summer type conditions that did not cost a fortune. Great to take along for any vacation.
I used this jacket on a four day backpacking trip in the Jefferson National Forest. It rained so I was glad to have it especially when I used it as a rain cover for my pack and then had to wear it that day. It was soaked when I put it on but after about 15 min. it had dried out pretty well without soaking my fleece underlayer. It is a Great Jacket!
Awesomely functional garment. Totally waterproof and breathable. Great fit features. Rain hood comes down over the brim of a ball cap and provides superior protection of the face. I work on a golf course and this gear is a lifesaver.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching the water just bead up, and feeling the extra weight all over you, all while remaining perfectly dry. You need to be conscientious of you fellow adventurers, though. In a good downpour, just a twist, or a jump, and a spray of water launches from the jacket. Its fun to see, but you dont want to soak your neighbor. The design of the hood is very functional, and adjustable to help with changing conditions. The breatheability is awesome; you never feel like you have a garbage bag on, and you can regulate the heat very easily with the pit-zips. The jacket is relatively wind-resistant although the gale at the top of the mountain will point out to you that it is not wind-proof. This is no heavy weight, nor is it the all weather gear (it can stick to your skin), but for the "just-in-case", or the extra shell on top, it fits the bill perfectly.
Seems to be a good jacket for a shell, especially if you want a breathable rain jacket. Was too light for the winter use that we needed. Should have checked the weight first.
I bought this Jacket about two weeks ago and have only used it about two or three times. However, it has exceeded my expectations. Its very light, comfortable and most importantly weather proof. The material really does pull itself away from your skin and keep you comfortable and dry. This thing is well worth the price tag. Enjoy!
I just got my North Face not too long ago. I absolutely love it. It's not only warm but it also keeps all the rain of you. The jacket also looks stylish. This maybe my first North Face and it wont be my last. Thanks!
I have this gear and like it so much that I bought it for my husband. It's light, packs small, fits over clothes easily, has a great "filing system," and I love the adjustable hood.
This was a heaven sent. As you know, Ireland weather can change in a instant from sunny and beautiful to down pour and then back to beautiful and sunny. This jacket was light enough, waterproof enough and windproof enough for those sunny days and then for the sleet we encountered on the Cliffs of Moher. I couldn't recommend this jacket enough and I can't wait to try it out in Germany next year.
I work outside in the rain sometimes, and I just had my first test of this jacket today in Manhattan. What a disappointment! At the end of the day I was soaking wet. And when I took the jacket off, the inside was wet. Not clammy-wet, but actual huge big patches of real wetness. The front of my T-shirt was drenched. I had everything sealed as best I could, and still the rain got in. No more waterproof than a non-waterproof jacket, in my opinion!
Awesome jacket, its totally waterproof and super lightweight. I have a tendency to get overheated and this jacket is the absolute lightest one I could find, it has oversized pit zips too. Great price as well. I absolutely recommend this rain jacket for three-season water protection.
Just spent a week in Ireland and my husband, daughter, and I all have North Face Venture Jackets. We couldn't have done the trip without them. When the rain and wind of the double-decker tour bus forced others downstairs, we just snugged up the multi-adjustable hoods. Even on the warmest days with the pit-zips open, they were perfect. The pockets held an entire purse worth of goodies to keep my hands free. Love them!!
This is a great jacket that keeps me dry and is never too hot. It's great because I don't feel like I'm about to summit Mt. Everest when I'm walking around town. Its very functional and stylish.
Nice jacket. I'm 6'3" 170lb and I purchased the medium. It fits nicely, except for the waist area, which is a little short. Other than that, I'm happy.
I am really pleased with the Venture Jacket. It has a good fit, light weight, good all around jacket. It has so far has kept the Alaskan rain out and me nice and dry.
The best thing about this raincoat is that it keeps you dry--even when it's raining. It rained today, and I didn't get wet. Additionally, the coat is very light, which is nice.
The Venture Jacket is average. I wore it in a downpour in muggy conditions and it kept me dry. I did sweat greatly in this jacket while it was fully unzipped in the front and the pit-zipps were fully open too. One of the cinch cords on the hem broke and one on the hood. I'd like to use one hand to cinch down the jacket in rain or cold with the product malfunctioning. The jacket does keep one dry, however. I wish I spent a little more money on the North Face DIAD Jacket. I am also partial to Mountain Hardware jackets. That company makes a fine, well thought out jacket....
This jacket delivers. It's perfect for three season rain protection here in the Mid-Atlantic coastal region. It will definitely be going with me next week on a backcountry kayak fishing trip.
I had originally purchased this jacket in Oct 2006, but it was stolen shortly thereafter. I liked it so much, I bought it again in Dec for a trek in Northern Thailand. The jacket is durable, well-constructed and light!!! It has a great fit, especially for someone with a wide frame, and the hood is easily adjustable. A little more expensive than a regular raincoat, but definitely worth it if you are in consistent wet weather.
My son wanted a waterproof shell to protect him from the Oregon rain walking around campus. He loves it. Lightweight, easy to throw in a backpack and keeps him warm when worn with a sweatshirt or fleece. I ordered right before Xmas and it even got here earlier than promised!
What an amazing jacket. So thin and breathable that I would forget I was wearing it. But in the roughest down pours, this jacket kept me dry. I love it.
I purchased two of these jackets for my nephews, both were delighted with their gifts, and the cost to me was less than that charged by my local retailer. I definitely will shop here again at Backcountry.com
Very tough to beat for the price. My only minor gripe is that the waist could be a bit longer in the back, so your ass doesn't get so wet if you're not wearing the pants.
This jacket will keep you dry even in the most extreme down pours. The raised micro-dot HyVent DT material keeps the jacket from feeling sticky by creating hundreds of tiny spaces to keep material away from your skin. I have created my own Himalayan jacket with this as the shell and the redpoint as the insulation. Bomber protection from the elements.
This is a great, lightweight rain jacket. Originally wanted the Resolve. It was not available in my size....ANYWHERE since Christmas, saw this, bought it, and I like it better!
I got this jacket for my dad for Christmas, and he's been so happy to replace his more fashion-y Polo Rain Jacket. The black color has nice lines and fits well. Its great for golf, walking around on vacation, etc. When I drag him out camping, he'll bring this too! He's 6 ft. tall and pretty normal build and the XL works well.
I wear this jacket regularly on Los Angeles' rainy days. It'll protect me fairly well from the downpour but the wind cuts through like a knife. Just be sure to layer well if this is the situation.
this jacket will keep you dry no matter what. i wore it for a 5 hour deep sea fishing trip and it was dumping rain the whole time. this jacket kept me more...
