    Shelter from the storm.

The North Face Men's Venture Jacket uses recycled nylon ripstop instead of conventional petroleum-based materials, earning it an Editors' Choice Green Award from Backpacker Magazine. Waterproof and breathable, the jacket's HyVent (2.5-layer) membrane blocks outside moisture while allowing built-up perspiration to evaporate.

A fully adjustable hood closes tightly to combat fierce winds and driving rain. The brushed chin guard lining gives a soft and scratch-free feel when the jacket is fully zipped. For convenient storage, this jacket easily folds into its hand pocket for portability when hiking, climbing, and backpacking.

My venture jacket two tone blue

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

This jacket is awesome! My only cons are, the sleeves are about three inches too long for me and the hook and loop on the front zipper could stand to be a bit wider. I try to wear this anytime it rains! I bought this jacket because of the features it has and I don't have a rain/wind jacket I wanted to "buy one and done" and this fit the bill. Zippered armpits for breath ability, cinched hood (a huge plus) hook and loop cuffs, and it compresses into its own pocket ( a very huge plus!!) very lightweight , and the two toned bomber blue/ navy blue sealed the deal. Obviously this jacket does not breathe which is fine and the water beads up on the shell rather than drip off. I've used it in snow and all types of rain.i do use this jacket as part of my daily kit that I keep in the car at all times. I would recommend this piece of gear as your next new piece!

    Simply the best

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This is the second time I have bought this jacket the first one was "borrowed" by my daughter and she loved it so much it never came back. It fits great and works perfectly.

    Had to return

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Had purchased the Northface Hyvent 2.5L in the past and loved it. Thought this would be a good replacement but found the overall length to be just a bit short for my boyfriend's build - I’m 6’2”. Fabric felt a bit on the lighter side, but the quality felt very good. Light weight. Easy to stow. Love the addition of zippered vents under the arms - major plus! And the velcro cuffs are a nice touch too.

Fit could be a bit longer.

    Would Highly Recommend

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Large

Bought this jacket in this mild winter we're having this year. Using it as an outer layer over a primaloft fillled insulated jacket. As we've had more rain then snow this year I can safely say it's performed great as a weatherproof shell. I look forward to using it in spring and summer for those rainy days especially with it being so packable. Great product!

    Nice Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl

Bought for my daughter's boyfriend who is 6'3" who probably could have used a few more inches of material but it works and he is living in it so I'd say it's a winner!

    Just What My Son Wanted

This jacket arrived quickly and was exactly as described. My 18 year-old son absolutely loves it, and the best part was the price.

    Perfect for my purposes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this for use as a waterproof shell. The size is just right for me to wear a down jacket with a couple of layers for warmth underneath. The pockets are great and I have worn it in some down pours and still stayed dry.

The pit zips have really come in handy with this jacket!

    Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket. It is perfect for grabbing on a rainy day when you are out and about. It is very lightweight and keeps you cool while shedding off the water. Looks great and fits great. I haven't had it long enough to tell how it will last but my initial impression is that it will

Best piece of equipment that I have

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large

The jacket is great and had many opportunities to use it so far. It has rained for the past 3 weeks and used it every day and have no complaints. The only thing I would've changed in the jacket would be to get a smaller size, because the Large was a little bigger on me than what I expected.I believe that once I start going to colder places that will require wearing more layers it won't seem as big as it feels at the moment and will work very well. The hood doesn't get in the way of my peripheral view once the jacket is zipped all the way up, it sits tight to the head and doesn't let any water get in. The construction of the jacket is great and the pocket doesn't have a "fake pocket" as I saw it in other reviews, it has a mesh that can hold many itens and will maintain it dry. As per weight, I have no issues whatsoever because it is extremely light and can become compact enough that it doesn't take any space in my pack.

    Three issues

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XXL

I wear a 52 regular sport coat and an 18-34/45 shirt. The XXL jacket fits me well, but I've noticed three issues. The sleeves are about an inch too long and even at that shorter length, there would still room to withdraw my hands into the sleeve on a rainy day. The long sleeves interfere with my hands as I drive. The second issue is the while walking with the wind to my back, the hood flies up and bounces against my head. There is no hook& loop or pocket to keep the hood held down when not in use. Finally, the zippers are small. This makes them hard enough to connect on a cold and rainy day, but in my experience, small zippers fail more quickly and often.

    Exceptional

Been in multiple rain storms in this jacket and have yet to get wet. It is comfortable light and effective. I did a cross country trip this past summer through the northwest and we got stuck in multiple storms. This coat withstood any test that came about. Great value and a great product.

I'm 6'0'' and 157 lbs. Which size would fit me more better, small or medium?

I'm 5'7" and 215. Size for me? Also, does this have any warming properties or is it just a shell?

Hi. I'm 5'8 and about 160lbs. What size do you reccomend I get? I will be teekking the hemis and will need the jacket to fit over my layers (baselayer, hooded fleece, ultralight down jacket). Thank you.

Hi. I'm 5'7 and 170lbs and this jacket in a medium regular fits awesome. North Face has manufactured this item to a lose fit so it will accommodate the addition of extra layers while still maintaining a comfortable fit even without the layers. I hope this helps

I'm 5 8 and 185 lbs, I got myself the large one which seems to be a good fit for the chest and shoulders, however the sleeves are too long, why is that?

Akram, comes down to the way the jacket fits. This particular piece caters to a boxier fit with average arm length. There are some other options that cater to shorter arms, Ill see if I can find a few and email them over.

I am 146 lbs and about 5 foot 8 inches. What size should i go with since when I measured my chest I was 31 inches?

Their size chart recommends the XS for you. However, my measurements are barely smaller than yours, and I wear a men's small, in North Face. So, would suggest going with the small size.

I want to send this jacket back to get a bigger size. How do i do that?

I purchased this jacket in December 2012 and it has kept me dry for most of the two years. However, I wore it for hours in a heavy rain and my clothing underneath was very wet. Does waterproof mean it should be waterproof even under the conditions I described?

Unless you were totally soaked, it may have been condensation from your body heat and if it was humid. This happened to me on a big hiking trip and i freaked out because it was supposed to rain a lot. Wearing a long sleeve shirt or a light soft shell will normally produce less condensation.. Hope this helps!!!( I am a Boy Scout who has a lot of experience with this stuff :) )
