How much will the book bag hold? I usually carry 2 binders, 2 notebooks, 2 agendas and the occasional folder. Will I also be able to put a textbook in there with all the other things? Sorry for all the questions just trying to make the right decision.

Responded on

Hey Haley,
I would say that the bag is just a touch too small for all those items. If they did all fit, it would be tight. The Recon, or the Jester may be a better option for you. Even the Slingshot! They have some more room, and i would feel more confident all those items would fit into one of those.

Seems there is no place for a water bottle on the sides? Is there?

Responded on

Hey Hongyu Zhang,

Thanks for your question.

This backpack does not have side compartments for water bottles on the sides. If that is something you are looking for in a backpack and want to stay with The North Face brand and keep this price point I would suggest looking at either the Slingshot (http://www.backcountry.com/the-north-face-slingshot-backpack-2000cu-in?ti=UExQIENhdDpNdWx0aS11c2UgRGF5cGFja3M6MTo3OmJjc0NhdDcxMTEwMDc3&skid=TNF8550-ASPGREGRE-ONESIZ) or the Recon (http://www.backcountry.com/the-north-face-recon-backpack-1850cu-in?ti=UExQIENhdDpNdWx0aS11c2UgRGF5cGFja3M6MToxNjpiY3NDYXQ3MTExMDA3Nw&skid=TNF7990-ASPGREEMB-ONESIZ).

I hope this helps.

I know that a laptop will fit, but is there a separate pocket inside to slide the laptop in? So it's not mixed in with books and other things?

Responded on

The interior pocket seems to be suitable for carrying naught but a laptop, although I must say it doesn't look like you would be able to carry many photos inside the organizer pocket, so if you were planning on carrying many books, you would probably have to capitulate and throw a book or two in with the laptop. Check out the photos I posted above for a bit of detail.
Hope that helps.

Inside Photo?
Hi, is it possible to get a photo of what it looks like inside each of the compartments? Also, the side water bottle holder? Thanks,
Heather

Responded on

I am sorry to inform you that there are no side-holster water bottle receptacles on this particular model of TNF backpack. However, check out the above photos I'm about to post that I found on www.openair.com. They are the Interior pocket and the organizer pocket, best I could manage.
Hope they help, sorry no one ever got around to answering this until now.

Does this pack have a water hydration port?

Responded on

Hey JB,

This pack is pretty basic and is really designed to be a pack for school use. With that, they really didn't feel it necessary to make it hydration compatible.

Two for Two Defective Backpack

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I ordered one of these and the first one was defective (chest strap uneven when buckled b/c it was attached at differing measurements to the respective left and right shoulder straps). I ordered a replacement backpack of the same style and again, same thing. I asked BC customer support if these were "seconds" and was told no, but it seems very strange that the two I received were defective.

Responded on

What a bummer! Sorry for your poor experience with this product, that is pretty lame! Sounds like TNF sent us a batch of faulty packs. I'll have our warehouse team check the remaining packs in inventory for defects. Don't hesitate to contact our Customer Service team if you want advice on selecting a different model or still need to send back the defective model.

Responded on

Hey Kbep! The warehouse team checked out all these packs, they didn't find any problems. Perhaps it was just an issue with the straps needing to be adjusted before using the pack, it could be possible that a simple adjustment was needed to fix this problem. Here's what the warehouse team had to report:

"Those chest straps are not stitched in, they are brackets on a track which can slide up and down to customize the fit. They way they are shipped the chest strap is spiraled around the shoulder straps and clipped together, and since is spirals the two brackets are at different heights on the track."

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns!

What is this contraption? Some kind of baby carrier?

This model didn't come with a specific baby compartment, but with enough compression straps and some sort of stuff sack, you could strap your new born to the outside.
