Unanswered Question

where was this coat made & is there a size small

I waited a year for this coat!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 5'9"
    Weight: 130 lbs
    Size Purchased: Small

After our daughter's winter wedding in Chicago, I knew I had to buy a jacket that would keep me warm in cold temps. I waited and it was worth it!

Looks like a bath robe

  • Fit:Runs large

I was looking for a long down coat . This one is perfect length and not puffy.

I'm not sure if this keeps you warm in the weather below 30 unless you wear thick layer inside.

I'm not sure about the style either.

I'm 5'4 105 lbs. and this is too big .The coat is bell shaped and looks classier than sporty, but at the same time, it looks like a bath robe to me as well because of its shape and the quilts patterns.

Not ideal for petites

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs large

I wanted to love this coat and was desperate to get it since we have had unprecedented snow and sub zero temps, but I am a petite 5'4 and this coat bells out way too much at the bottom. If the coat could be tapered from the waist down, I would love it!

What fabric is on the inside of the placket? My current NF coat has a fleece lining where the snaps are over the zipper, and the fleece is full of unsightly pills. Can I hope this coat has no fleece on the inside? Thanks.

love LOVE love this Jacket

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I bought this for my Sister; check out here review:

I LOVE this coat. I ordered it so that I could wear it as a nice work jacket, or a causal day out with jeans and it works perfect for both! I am 5’4 and got a small. It fits great. Its pretty fitted around my waist, but the bottom is a little flared out. It still looks great, especially when worn with boots! It keeps me really warm and I also love that the hood is not bulky. It sits perfectly on the jacket! I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone.

Nice Coat

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

North Face makes excellent products and this coat was no exception. The only problem was the fit was tight in the waist.

Like the color but was a little too big

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs large

returning to get a small.

Disappointed in quality, but a nice look

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large

I think that I simply received a defective product, which is why I did not give it less than 3 stars - I have not been disappointed in TNF items before this. My main complaint is that the down feathers come out constantly. I have had many people comment that I am "shedding" and it seems the larger feathers poke out from everywhere, not only the seams. I wore it for a week with this problem, and washed it according to instructions - no improvements. I will also say that it does seem a bit lighter/thinner than advertised. I have been wearing it in 25-45 F temperatures, and it has definitely been necessary to layer. The positive aspects of this coat include the ultra-flattering shape (I previously had the Metro parka, but replaced it with this due to the nicer silhouette). It is also chic enough for a day in the city, while still rugged enough for a day in nature. If it weren't for the quality issue (which I'm hoping was a fluke), I would recommend this very highly. As it is, because Backcountry has a great return policy, I would still suggest trying it if you can. I was unable to return it due to my travel schedule, so I had to live with it, though ordinarily I would have sent it back and tried again. Finally, I would say that similar to the Metro parka, it runs large - I am 140lbs, 5'8" and wear the small comfortably with layers.

-10 C (14F) Max

  • Fit:True to size

This park is good to -10 C (14F) C max

In wet snow will gradually get wet.

Easily washed with special detergents.

Size S : Hips 36,2 (92 cm) , Waist 26,2 (67 cm), Cheast 36d

Does the zipper open both ways (from the top and bottom)?

The front-zip is two-way! If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me-- or 1-800-409-4502 ext 4456!

What degrees and weather conditions would be appropriate to use this coat for?

I would not be able to wear this below 25 F (I am from NE USA and quite used to cold, however this required some extra layering). A light snow or rain is OK for a few hours, but anything heavier is not recommended. It is quite easy and fast to clean or throw in the dryer (follow instructions!) if necessary, though.
