Description

Chic jacket packed with insulation.

The North Face Women's Transit Down Jacket magically transforms the cold, dreary march to the office into a warm, dreary march to the office. The Transit's DWR treatment shrugs off light rain and snow and the 600-fill down insulation locks in the warmth from your front door to the office and back.

The Transit's shell is polyester fabric with a durable water-resistant finish. The recycled polyester taffeta lining is super-soft against your skin, so you can wear the Transit with a short-sleeve shirt if you want. Of course, the feature that you'll love the most is the warm 600-fill down insulation, which locks in the warmth to keep you comfortable on the coldest days. The Transit also comes with an adjustable, removable hood and a brushed chin guard that reduces chafing and irritation. Two zippered hand pockets take care of your valuables and an internal media pocket with a headphone cord guide protects your phone or MP3 player and routes your headphone cable so it doesn't get tangled.

  • Polyester shell with DWR treatment
  • Soft recycled polyester taffeta lining
  • Toasty 600-fill down insulation
  • Flattering women-specific fit
  • Adjustable, removable hood
  • 1 internal media pocket
  • 2 zippered hand pockets

Never Wash it...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Its a great jacket until you wash it once... most of the downed feathers clumped together after the wash and didn't fluff out after the dryer...

It says to wash on delicate and low tumble dry... I used the instructions and woolaaa... a $250 jacket that worked for only 4 outings

extremely disappointed... cause I loved the jacket ;(

I am 5'3, 140 lbs (athletic build)....chest is a 32 D and I have an hourglass shape. I usually wear a size 4 (sometimes a 6). Would you go for a small or medium in this?

Responded on

Hi,
It sounds like you would best fit in a size Medium! I'm thinking a size Small would be too restricting for free range of movement.

Score some points with MOM!

So my mom needed a really warm jacket for her travels to Korea so I suggested this one to her. I told her, like I tell all my customers, it's not about the fill power it's about the loft (poofiness). So instead of getting something with an 800 fill power we got her this jacket because it had more "loft". Now it's not like a really big down jacket like the michelin man, but enough to keep the warmth in. She took it to Korea and she said it was perfect. Korean winters are rather harsh like East coast winters because it is not only cold but WET! and this jacket does have a DWR treatment to be water resistant. I'm not saying that you can pour a cup of water on it but it will keep the "chill to the bone" cold out and the warmth in. She is a jacket size 8-9 and the large was perfect for her because she likes to layer underneath.

I'm 5'1, but big in the bust -145lbs, what size do you think i should get?

Based on that information I would suggest a medium for you in The North Face Transit Down Jacket. However, if you are worried about fit in the chest and torso I would compare an exact chest measurement to the sizing chart listed with this product page for best fit.

fit was terrible, seems cheaply made

Fit was just plain weird. I went with the medium based on what the "gear head " suggested, I'm 6'0" tall and only 145 so Im tall and skinny. I literally could have fit another body inside this jacket with me ! The shoulders and sleeves fit fine...So if you are thick thru the middle this may work for you. By the description this is supposed to be a fitted feminine cut so I was really disappointed. Also its pretty light weight and doesnt seem warm enough for anything under 35degrees! Seems cheap, not what I expected from The North Face....

You are obviously borderline between and XS and an S. I would favor the S because of this jacket's trim profile. It should give you just enough room to layer underneath when you need to.

Your arms would probably be too long for a small, and based on this being a slim fitting coat with a tapered waist, I would encourage you to try the medium.

what size for my wife she weighs 135 and is 5'8?

I would recommend a medium to ensure the sleeves are long enough for her. This is a trim coat so you should be good for torso fit also.

I am 5'3 130lbs what size should I get? Is it a form fitted coat and true to size and how long is it?

Responded on

This is a slim fitting coat and scoops in at the sides. I would recommend a small for you.

Runs small

  • Fit: Runs small

Ordered a medium which normally would fit. The sleeve length was perfect but the jacket too tight. I wear a size 8 so I was disappointed when it didn't fit. I then ordered a large and it fit but the sleeves are a little long. I am keeping the large because I really like the jacket.
