Description

Toasty warmth without the weight.

The North Face Women's ThermoBall Insulated Jacket wraps you in delightful warmth without weighing you down on minimalist backcountry missions, laps at the resort, or freezing days on the trail. Repelling moisture, the jacket's nylon shell is treated with a Durable Water Repellant to shed snow flurries and light showers.

Packing the warmth of 600-fill down, the jacket's PrimaLoft ThermoBall insulation offers heat-trapping loft, mimicking clusters of down for toasty warmth. However, unlike down insulation, ThermoBall continues to trap heat once moisture seeps in, making it an excellent mid-layer for wet winter conditions.

  • Nylon (15D) shell
  • DWR treatment
  • Thermoball synthetic insulation
  • Internal hem drawcord
  • Hidden-zip hand pockets
  • Stretch cuffs

My go-to jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 145 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

I wore this jacket skiing almost everyday this winter. It is breathable, warm, and fits really well under a shell. The Thermoball jackets are very packable and are easy to stuff in a backpack or in a suitcase. Wind can sneak through if it is your only jacket in blustery weather, but light rain wicks right off and light wind stays out making this jacket a necessity.

How much cost the sent to the Ciudad de Campana, Buenos Aires, Rep. Argentina?? How much time the sent could be here??. Thanks...

Great jacket!

It fits well, and is warm but very lightweight. It also has nice internal cuffs so that the sleeve stays in place but actually covers the bottom part of your hand. Love it!

Is this jacket warm enough and windproof enough to wear without an overlayer for spring skiing (March) in Utah?

kar105800284,

With the warmer winter we have been having I would be inclined to say most definitely. Although if things do kick up and get back to normal there might be a day here or there you will want a mid layer or some type of shell to break the wind. Its a great all around insulating piece to have.

Disappointed in the color

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered a vintage blue jacket after much searching and shopping/comparing online. I eventually chose the vintage blue color thinking it was closer to "sky blue". When it arrived I was disappointed to find it was more of a blue jeans blue which was not what I wanted. I wanted to stand out a bit more. I know screens can show colors different per monitor so its no ones fault, just not what I wanted. Unfortunately this coat will go back and I'll wait for the new fall colors and try again. Really wanted to keep it though.

For what it's worth, Megan, I agree with you about the color discrepancy on the monitor vs. what the jacket looked like in real life. I have a Coastline Blue Thermoball jacket that looks exactly like the color on the website in person, but the Vintage Blue one I just got looks significantly different than it does online. As far as I can tell, it's just an issue with the Vintage Blue photo. I will be returning mine as well.

Light & Thin

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this jacket as a gift to my mother-in-law and she has had nothing but the best of things to say about it. The thing that struck me the most about it was how lightweight, thin and packable it is. Honestly, I was a little skeptical that something that light would be very warm but she assures me that it is more than adequate for our UT winters. She only wears it casually though, so I would still recommend layering if you are going to be doing any sort of intense outdoor activities.

Hi Cat....great picture! What color is that thermoball? Is it the coastline blue?

Responded on

I don't think so, it is a little bluer (got it as a gift). It doesn't have the diff. color zipper if that helps!

amazing warmth for the thinness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is so warm, and so thin, I have no idea how they do it. I am always cold, but this keeps me warm and toasty. Will become a staple in any wardrobe, you can wear it as a stand alone or layer under a shell, depending on the weather and activity. I plan to buy another one just because I love it so much!

Beautiful Jacket

  • Fit: Runs large

I was worried this jacket would be shiny like a spacesuit - but it isn't. It's definitely has a sheen to it but not in an upsetting way. It is surprisingly warm - especially given the weight. It is great for city walking in the winter. The only part I don't love about this jacket is the cuffs on the sleeves. They are straight down so it looks almost like a shirt sleeve. There is an elastic band at the inside of the sleeve around the wrist to keep the snow and cold out - which is really nice, but I would prefer it tapered at the wrist. I usually run in between a small and medium and the small fits me perfectly.

Greystone

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I haven't really worn the jacket so I can't comment on it. I decided to return it because I ordered the greystone thinking it was grey but I don't really find it to be grey. It's more of a purple. Anyway, it's not ugly just didn't match what I had bought to wear it with.

LOVE this jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered this jacket after moving to Salt Lake City from sunny Lake Tahoe. I needed a jacket I could wear in town and use as a under-layer while teaching up at the ski resort to keep warm. I LOVE this jacket. I wear it everyday...literally. I ended up sizing down because I wanted a jacket that was form-fitted. I got the XS in floral...5'5", 125ish lbs., athletic build. I tried the small, but felt that the jacket bulged around my shoulder blades and there was too much space around my torso area. The XS fit like a glove. I have worn this jacket with a long-sleeve underneath in high-20s and been fine...it's super warm, but not bulky. This jacket might seem thinner than you'd expect, but it definitely keeps you warm. It's perfect under a ski jacket on the mountain too. Plus, I get tons of compliments on the floral design.

Great looking jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave this as a gift to a recent California transplant to Utah and this jacket has been great. She has been really impressed with the fit and overall quality, Really lightweight and not bulky at all.

Amazing fit!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket for my wife, and she loves the color (Grey) and the way that it fits her.
It is perfect for autumn and winter.

will this hold up to Midwest winters? 20 degree days?

Responded on

This is a mid winter jacket, and would make a great ski midlayer. It depends on how active you will be, but you would probably want something to wear with this jacket if youre going to be out in that 20 degrees for long periods of low activity!

Responded on

Winters in the Midwest are brutal. This is a surprisingly warm jacket for the weight. In deep winter I would definitely rely on layers. Having a good baselayer and then something on top that is windproof would make a great insulating system.
