    Toasty warmth without the weight.

The North Face Women's ThermoBall Insulated Jacket wraps you in delightful warmth without weighing you down on minimalist backcountry missions, laps at the resort, or freezing days on the trail. Repelling moisture, the jacket's nylon shell is treated with a Durable Water Repellant to shed snow flurries and light showers.

Packing the warmth of 600-fill down, the jacket's PrimaLoft ThermoBall insulation offers heat-trapping loft, mimicking clusters of down for toasty warmth. However, unlike down insulation, ThermoBall continues to trap heat once moisture seeps in, making it an excellent mid-layer for wet winter conditions.

    Lightweight and warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small

Pretty impressive primaloft technology. This jacket is just as warm as my 800 down fill jackets. Very lightweight and comfortable. I wore it this morning out in the rain for some time and stayed dry and yesterday I wore it in 50mph winds and it held up pretty well. Hood comes in very handy. I bought the Small and I'm 5'3" and a size 4. I think anyone shorter than me would find this jacket too big. The sleeves and torso are a bit long, which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Hands down the best un-puffy jacket

This jacket kept me warm in below freezing weather with just a long john shirt on. It was unbelievable. I am in total love with my jacket. The other great thing is that I don't feel the need to take it off once I'm in the car driving. I hate bulky coats or jackets when I drive and they usually ride shot gun or in the back seat. This jacket runs a little large. I'm 5'7 and 147 lbs and I ordered small. There is enough room for shirt and sweater .

thin but very warm, runs large

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XS

This jacket is great! Very thin and lightweight, but quite warm. I've used it in 40-ish degree weather over a shirt and been toasty. I'm right on the border between the S and XS measurements; originally bought a small but returned it for an XS so that it would be fitted and not baggy. Love the print and the elastic at the wrists.

    Great top or mid-layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This is my first North Face purchase, and I am not embarrassed to say that I bought it 100% because of the stunning color that I knew would look good on me. I have since replaced a much heavier jacket with this one. I have also slept in this jacket, and now my husband wants one to replace an old, frayed and heavy jacket of his.
I wear this jacket around town, and I find that after I start moving, the jacket holds body warmth well. My Thermoball is also very waterproof. The shortcoming would be that it is not at all windproof, and this would not be a good jacket for sitting in the stands watching a sporting event in cold weather...for that layering a shell over it would be necessary. This is a good replacement for your soft shell jacket in 35-55 degree weather. I can stuff this jacket inside itself and leave it in the car for use as needed, no use for a dedicated rain jacket anymore (just have an umbrella for your head handy). I wear this layer on super-cold days under my ski jacket. When the power goes out, I have worn this item to bed comfortably. When inside, I can stuff this jacket easily into my purse, and it does not attract stains! I find this jacket indispensable, as mentioned above, the jacket DOES look good on me...not only the color, but the cut and the "v" shape of the synthetic down pockets are figure flattering.
The comment I have for the sizing is that the jacket may be "slightly" big, and I would recommend trying on for proper fit and thinking twice about ordering up.

Elastic on sleeves is WAY too tight!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I just received this jacket and I love the fit and the weight but within 2 minutes of wearing it I had noticeable grooves in my skin from the elastic around the wrists. I have thin/normal wrists and I'm not particular about wearing things on my wrists. It's really a shame. I will be returning it.
I wonder if the other North Face Thermoball jacket (which is more expensive) has the standard type of velcro adjustable sleeves??

Good jacket, just not for me.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium and Small

This jacket was incredibly warm, light weight, and 'stylish' for a puffy. Unfortunately, I had to return it because of one tiny annoyance. The elastic around the wrists was incredibly tight, on both the small and the medium, and I've been told that I have thin wrists. I think it's a personal thing, as I also get annoyed with bracelets and hair ties on my wrist. I would recommend this jacket to anyone as long as they aren't too sensitive to tightness on their wrists.

Great form fitting jacket! Nice and warm, perfect for winter days as a layer under a ski coat or as itself when mild.

    Love!

Love this jacket. It is a little thinner than I thought it would be but the fit is perfect and it is still a really warm jacket. The North Face, as always does not disappoint!

    Thermoball 1st Timer

    • Fit: True to size

I got this for my mom for Christmas and she can't stop raving about it. The lightness, the warmth, the color and fit. She absolutely loves it! She lives in southeastern Tennessee where it can get pretty soggy in the morning without any actual rain falling, so I'm curious to see how resistant it is to the misty morning conditions over time. So far she couldn't be happier, though.

    Garnet Purple Galactic Print

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

I got the Garnet Purple Galactic Print. It's really cool without being over the top. Love it! Sizing is a bit roomy, which is great for layering. Since it's not down, it won't be quite as warm, but warm enough in my opinion. Plus I like the elastic bands at the wrist. They're not very tight, but tight enough to keep the sleeves in place since I'm a bit on the short side.

    Galactic

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I bought the Garnet Purple Galactic Print in a size bigger than I normally wear to layer underneath. The print is more subtle than I thought it would be, and it's way cooler than the solid colors. It's warm, comfy, lightweight, and has a flattering cut. My only complaint is that it's not as warm as my down jackets, but that's why I bought it a size larger so I could layer underneath.

    Unanswered Question

I just received the medium in this jacket and it fits well everywhere but in the arms which are huge. I live in FL so this is my first insulated jacket. Would going down to a small help with the size of the arms or is it simply how this style of jacket runs?

Looking at item# TNF00L4 and it sayd its on sale, but when I click on any size it says it is $198.95? Is it on SALE??

I've looked at the Magic Magenta colored jacket on multiple websites and it varies greatly. Would you say it is more pink or more purple?

My thermoball is not one of the ones that stuffs into its own pocket, can anyone recommend a ditty or stuff sack for the jacket? Thanks!

How much cost the sent to the Ciudad de Campana, Buenos Aires, Rep. Argentina?? How much time the sent could be here??. Thanks...

Is this jacket warm enough and windproof enough to wear without an overlayer for spring skiing (March) in Utah?

    kar105800284,

With the warmer winter we have been having I would be inclined to say most definitely. Although if things do kick up and get back to normal there might be a day here or there you will want a mid layer or some type of shell to break the wind. Its a great all around insulating piece to have.

will this hold up to Midwest winters? 20 degree days?

This is a mid winter jacket, and would make a great ski midlayer. It depends on how active you will be, but you would probably want something to wear with this jacket if youre going to be out in that 20 degrees for long periods of low activity!
