A hoodie with versatility.
The North Face Women’s Thatch Hooded Full-Zip Jacket is an all-around winter champ that will keep you toasty while you enjoy a post-shred beer on the ski-lodge patio. High-tech Apex Universal 3L softshell fabric is soft on the inside and offers a bit of weather protection on the outside so you can wear this hoodie by itself for shoulder-season skiing when the weather is nice. Apex Universal, the most versatile of the Apex line, balances breathability with water resistance, which means it works on its own and as a cozy midlayer when the conditions are more intense.

The zippers ruin the jacket
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I ordered this jacket in a size xs in the thatch print. It's super cute and fits well except the sleeves are insanely long. For size comparison, I'm 5'1 1/2 and 105 pounds so I am short. If you are tall, these could work but on me they are about 2 inches past my fingertips when straight so they are very bunched up when worn. If they had thumbholes, it would be fine but they don't.
My biggest problem however is the zippers. The asymetrical zipper looks odd when zipped down like hoodies are normally worn and it's made worse by the second zipper. I was perplexed by the second zipper's function so I contacted NF. I had assumed it was a vent when I ordered, but it has fabric under it so it's just a gusset to make the neckhole bigger if you're trying to layer something like a scarf under it. IMO this just makes it unnecessarily bulky and it makes that asymetrical flap stick up when the zipper is zipped down some. The NF rep told me that typically these jackets are just worn with the zipper up all the way all the time. For me, this doesn't work at all because we are constantly layering and unlayering here in the Pacific Northwest.
I needed this to be the perfect all around wear while snowboarding as a mid layer and while out and about as an outer layer and it's just not going to work out for that.
