    A hoodie with versatility.

The North Face Women’s Thatch Hooded Full-Zip Jacket is an all-around winter champ that will keep you toasty while you enjoy a post-shred beer on the ski-lodge patio. High-tech Apex Universal 3L softshell fabric is soft on the inside and offers a bit of weather protection on the outside so you can wear this hoodie by itself for shoulder-season skiing when the weather is nice. Apex Universal, the most versatile of the Apex line, balances breathability with water resistance, which means it works on its own and as a cozy midlayer when the conditions are more intense.

    • Fleece-lined
    • Offset front-zipper
    • Two hand pockets

    Really nice jacket!

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

This is warm, but not too bulky. It is a very snug fit as I am used to the Denali which isn't fitted at all. The Gear Heads were great when I called to make an exchange for size and then called again to return the bigger one. I have yet to wear it in the rain, but the hood is great! The other zipper would be great if you are wearing a scarf or something to cover your neck/lower face. I've received multiply compliments as it's a really cool jacket!

    Great fit!

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I love this jacket. It is so warm, and has a great cut to it that hugs you in all the right places. It is a little thicker material and you can tell the quality is great on it. I love the accent colors the zippers have. I purchased the black color, and both my main zipper and secondary zipper are the hot pink colorway, not sure if that is just an older model, but I will find out!
Now onto the zipper situation. I honestly don't mind it too much. I never unzip the secondary zipper, it just looks like a flap off to the side of my chest that shouldn't be there and it is super weird if you unzip it while the jacket itself is unzipped. If you unzip it while it is completely zipped up though, it does give you a ton of extra room to layer a chunky scarf or something under it. I personally don't really wear scarves so I have no need for that. And when zipped up all the way, it goes to my mouth, so I would only do that while snowboarding, not out and about.
It fits true to size, maybe a touch larger though. I am 5'5" and 150 and I have a medium that fits perfectly.
Overall, I wear this jacket all the time, it is so comfortable and a great go-to piece!

    My First 'Portlander' Jacket

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

After living in Portland for almost 2 years, I had yet to get an even slightly rain-proof jacket until now. I got my Thatch jacket in early November at the start of the rainy season, and have gone on quite a few walks through the city at night as well as some misty hikes on the Oregon coast- this jacket is super lightweight but does a great job at keeping you warm and dry.

The angled zippers take a little getting used to, but they are a great added touch of style- one of the reasons I avoided rain-wear for so long! My only real gripe is that the inner fleece, while insanely comfortable, makes it hard to wear over cardigans, my Bay Area layering habits are dying hard with this jacket.

    The zippers ruin the jacket

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:True to size

I ordered this jacket in a size xs in the thatch print. It's super cute and fits well except the sleeves are insanely long. For size comparison, I'm 5'1 1/2 and 105 pounds so I am short. If you are tall, these could work but on me they are about 2 inches past my fingertips when straight so they are very bunched up when worn. If they had thumbholes, it would be fine but they don't.

My biggest problem however is the zippers. The asymetrical zipper looks odd when zipped down like hoodies are normally worn and it's made worse by the second zipper. I was perplexed by the second zipper's function so I contacted NF. I had assumed it was a vent when I ordered, but it has fabric under it so it's just a gusset to make the neckhole bigger if you're trying to layer something like a scarf under it. IMO this just makes it unnecessarily bulky and it makes that asymetrical flap stick up when the zipper is zipped down some. The NF rep told me that typically these jackets are just worn with the zipper up all the way all the time. For me, this doesn't work at all because we are constantly layering and unlayering here in the Pacific Northwest.

I needed this to be the perfect all around wear while snowboarding as a mid layer and while out and about as an outer layer and it's just not going to work out for that.
