I went off the age range recommendation for this backpack, seeming like it would be fine. All the pictures of the product show average size kids with the pack on. Unfortunately the waist belt is way too big for my kids, making it unusable for backpacking. I read all the other comments about this, thinking the other parents just has super slim kids. Nope, the belt design seems like they mismanufactured it, using an adult waist belt on the kids backpack frame. Fitting it to myself , the frame is narrow and short, but the belt fits me fine, with room to spare. Due to the design of padding an storage on the belt, you can't change anything to make it work. Super bummed out.

Not for small waisted youth

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the bag wish the waste band was more adjustable.

I would recommend this backpack.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my son who is in scouts. I have the same pack for adults and it is a real dependable work horse.

Waste is a little big for 12 y/o

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cinched the waste strap as tight as it would go and still too big for my 12y/o. He's not that skinny!

Great backpack

Spacious backpack. Good for backpacking and multi-day trips. The waist pockets are really nice to store food or camera.
