The North Face designed the Women's Terra 40 Backpack specifically for all you trail divas covering a lot of ground in a day. The North Face placed this mid-sized backpack's shoulder straps closer together to accommodate a woman's narrow shoulders, and shortened the torso length of the pack. The Terra 40 Backpack has an open-air mesh panel across the back, allowing airflow and cooling your back so you don't end up with a sweat-soaked shirt. Adjust the sternum strap and tighten The North Face's hip-belt to transfer weight away from your shoulders. For quick overnights, stash your bedding in the Terra 40's sleeping bag compartment.
Bottom Line: Whether you're bagging a fourteener or out on the Appalachian Trail, carry your gear in The North Face's comfortable Terra 40 Backpack.
I bought this bag for a three week trip across Europe. I didn't know at the time there were travel backpack that had detachable daypacks and stowed their straps for checking at the airport. But I decided to stick with this bag anyway because I love the purple color. It worked great packing for a week and doing laundry along the trip. I did end up buying a pack cover to protect in the rain/snow and to check the bag at the airport. Great bag for travel or hiking. One thing to note. There is no way to lock the zippers on the bag because of how they are made. I had to buy plastic zip ties and carry fingernail clippers in my pocket to cut them off every night. I needed to do this to keep pick-pockets out.
I got this pack to climb Kilimanjaro, but I also have some back issues. I've worn this pack on several long hikes now, with no back problems. Lots of space, pockets to hold everything. The only complaint I have is that it is hydration compatible, but there is no exit port from the interior of the pack. I will either have to cut one myself, or somehow weave the hose through another opening. Great fit, and feels great. I recommend it.

Just used it for a 2 week trip in Ukraine - I fit more than enough. Comfortable and easy to pack. The size works as a carry-on. I'm almost 5'10" and I'm not sure if it fits me completely right (the waist strap is just slightly above my hip bones), but it doesn't seem to matter. I love it!!
Granted it was summery clothes, but I fit MORE than enough for 2 weeks in Europe. I had sneakers, flats, sandals, 2 pairs of jeans, travel dryer, straightener, lots of other clothes, toiletries, books, etc. and had plenty of room to spare!
I was able to fit everything I needed for a 1 week trip (more than enough clothes and 1 or 2 pairs of shoes). If you really pack light, you could make it work for a 2 week trip, but I would probably go with something slightly larger.
I always bring this pack camping with me on the weekends and it fits my sleeping bag in the bottom compartment and 2-3 days worth of clothes in the main compartment. Any toiletries fit nicely in the top pocket. Perfect bag for a 1-3 day trip.
This pack is amazing! Great fit and look! I got the Kelpie Green and its an amazing color! Just a great pack and buy in all for anyone who is looking for a long day hike or a couple days.
