If all you need is a nice soft button-down, The North Face Men's Syncline Shirt is the answer. Soft-but-sporty fabric with UPF of 15 is functional outside and full-on GQ whether you're in or out. The upper chest zip pocket stashes sweet little somethings for your girlfriend (c'mon, you're a good boyfriend, right?), and sleeves roll up when the going gets rough and you need to show the lawn mower who's boss. (She's watching through the window… hurry up.)
Bottom Line: Urban mountain man style, just like those guys in the shaving commercials.
I bought two of these shirts for late fall day hiking/summer evening bug beater and TNF's Syncline Shirt does both with style. I wear my synclines to class, work, and woods and I'm never dissapointed. There are some other reviews of these shirts falling apart but after two years, both of mine are still in great condition. I really like the sleeve tabs that keep the shirt out of your way whether you're filleting a fish or sitting at a desk. After the hike, I don't need to worry about changing to hit up happy hour. They remain odor-free and dry quickly. I'm about to order a few more to round out my collection. I'm usually a perfect fit in small, but these do run slightly baggy. It's not that much of a difference, but something to keep in mind.
Overall: You'll look good no matter where your day finds you.

I really like the way this shirt fits. I'm 5'9", about 190lbs. and a large is perfect. Not to fitted but not baggy either. Seems to be a pretty sturdy construction.
Good shirt. A little baggy fit to it so that is something to consider. I was not real sure what material "modal" was but I purchased it anyway. I was looking for more of lightweight shirt for hiking, this is not it. I do think this is a great shirt for cooler temps though. I definitely plan on wearing it when I go on some late Fall hikes. This shirt is super soft and looks great. It is rugged enough for any outdoor adventure, but nice enough to wear out on the town.
are these shirts made long to be tucked in or are they fine to where untucked? I hate when a shirt has to be tucked. When it is so long you look like you are wearing a night gown if you leave it out.
looks like its made for casual/sport use instead of formal so the cut is probly made to be untucked...also the hem is flat, and shirts that are made to be tucked in have pointed hems
I have one of these in every available color. I'm an extreme outdoors enthusiast, and these shirts can be worn for that (dry quickly, wrinkles easily taken out, look great), but better for everyday use. Whether its mid summer or mid winter, these shirts are super comfortable, look great on the town or in the woods, and if treated properly, last forever! The best way to take care of these is to wash cold, then let hang dry (iron, if you have to... inside out). Can role the sleeves up as well. I've worn these hiking, when they were fantastically comfortable and moisture wicking, and i've worn them on vacation in the cold weather of Newport RI, and heat of the Florida coast. They don't shrink, so order your exact size (as long as you wash in cold water... VERY slightly shrink with hot). The biggest downfall of these shirts, is that they are SO nice, I can't bring myself to wear them on the trail until they're old. Also, unless you follow washing instructions (and you dry them alot), they will start to wear quickly (only lasting a year or two)! Gosh forbid! Enjoy the shirts, I do! There are many more colors available through many different outlets, so look for the best colors for yourself. I enjoyed the dark blue, gray, black, pinot' red (there are three or more colors of red), and moonlight (which is a bone white kind of color). Another problem with these shirts, is you can't get enough of them! As for the other guy's question, you CAN wear them in, or out, look good either way. I can wear a small if I wanted to, but choose the medium (which is only slightly larger), and after one warm wash (which your not supposed to do), it fit's perfect (whereas, the large is REALLY large, and doesn't shrink at all!)! The colors last forever on these as well! By the time it's ready for the junk heap, it is still the color it was when you bought it. I then cut my last one up, and used it to wax the car (better material then any chamois material)! Never run out of use for these shirts! Warm at night, cool wicking material for day (the only time i've been too warm, was on day's--in town's--when it was around 80+ degrees). Other than that, if your hiking in those temps, sweat won't bother you, because it will be wick'ed away! I can only hope this answers most peoples questions, and that you all enjoy the shirt!
I bought this shirt for my husband. He already had one color, and he looked so "tough" that I wanted to buy him another one. They are very masculine and slimming and would look good on anyone. So glad he finally "discovered" them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To help clarify the question: Do the collar points button down like a dress shirt? Other advertisers show this same product with the collar fully buttoned down to the shirt. (ex. EMS, REI )
Early in 2009 I purchased several of these shirts to go to China and think they are the best. I purchased again because I like the look and feel and how easy they are to wash.
I have purchased several of these shirts to travel to China and have found them to be the perfect travel shirt, they look and feel great and hold up well.
No, they are made a little large. I normally have to purchase tall sizes to accomodate my sleeve length. These shirts were perfect in regular size. The shirts are extremely comfortable. No shrinkage after washing. Great product!
Personally I love these shirts. They don't fall apart but they do "fray" (for lack of a better word) along the seams pretty quick. Ya' know the edge of the front pockets on your favorite jeans where the denim is wearing a bit?...well that's what happens to the edge of the cuffs, pocket, etc...personally I like it, but if you want your comfy shirts to be "mint" for a long time this isn't for you. 4 stars only because they run a bit roomy. If you are a big guy they're perfect. If not then don't expect a slim fit...oh, and buy 2 'cause your girl will steal it to relax in after breakfast on Sunday.
Looks and feels new even after multiple washes. I love them so much I have every color and two of some color. Just wish they made them in tall sizes...maybe next year.

After wearing my first shirst till it was in tatters, I now have 5 of these shirts. They are fully technical, with no cotton. I wear them everywhere from multi-day hikes collecting peaks in the Cascades to downtown Seattle at work meetings. These shirts are the best.
