Whether you're trying to endure winter's wrath among the skyscrapers or the mountains, The North Face Women's Suzanne Triclimate Down Trench Coat provides all the protection and warmth you'll need. This three-in-one jacket has a goose-down insulated liner that can be worn alone on chilly fall days or just before Spring has sprung, while its stylish shell can be worn alone on blustery fall afternoons when you wander Central Park. With its long trench coat cut, the Suzanne provides protection and style form the top of your head all the way to your knees. The shoes are up to you.

The Suzanne's Triclimate system consists of a waterproof, breathable, and very durable HyVent 3-layer shell for protection and a toasty liner jacket for insulation. In love

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

My husband actually ordered this jacket originally from another site, but had to get a different size and decided to go with backcountry.com because they have the BEST PRICE on this coat that I've been able to find and they have excellent customer service. The free 2 day shipping going on right now has been amazing as well- as I've had to do some exchanging for colors and sizes.

This coat runs pretty true to size. I have a North Face down coat size medium that I wear but would like to fit a little bigger, and got the large in this and it's a little larger than I'd like for fashion but for function it's about perfect because I can still wear anything underneath and be comfortable.

Also, I initially thought that I HAD to have the blue (it looks gorgeous online and is beautiful in person) but my husband had ordered the grey for Valentines Day.. So when I ordered the larger size I ordered it in the blue to compare- and having them both here to compare I actually fell in love with the grey. It really shows off the cute details of the coat that kind of get lost in the blue (The pockets, the arm patch, etc.). I also thought the blue was going to be a really special kind of navy blue (with maybe some kind of green depth to it) but it is just a regular deep navy blue. Beautiful- but I just had to go with the grey. I do have to say that I like the color options of the down jacket with the navy blue option- I'm not a big fan of the super pale gray with the gray jacket but I do like the black. The pale grey of the down jacket might be my one and only complaint about this coat.

My favorite thing about this jacket is just the structure- I haven't seen any other trench-style coats and especially one with a down jacket underneath that is so beautifully structured and flattering. And at the sale price- it's a total win for me.

A Lot of Coats for the Money

This is not an inexpensive garment. It's actually several, reasonably priced ones. I agree that it is amazingly stylish for a bulky winter coat--two, actually--and the fun thing is that you can wear it several different ways. It's a down coat, it's a warm raincoat, it's both, the inner coat is reversible, you can partially un zip it from the shell so that there's a contrast, as though you're wearing a jacket--and it's very warm and waterproof. I do wish the hood also had down in it, but other than that, it's an awful lot of options. At full price, it's about $100 a coat, and that's not a lot. Enjoy.

    Almost perfect. Almost.

I love this coat. I want to start my review off by saying that, emphatically. It's by far the most fashionably cut and yet functional parka on the market. I would know because I tried on practically every one of them, from every brand, before settling on this one.

I'm 5'7" and 120 lbs. and I purchased an XS. Amazingly, the sleeves are long enough, which is usually an issue for me. It fits quite snugly, but I can still fit a warm sweater under it on particularly cold NYC days. It looks amazing (I get compliments on the street all the time) and keeps me *almost* perfectly warm.

The small issues I have with the coat are: 1) It's about 4 inches too short in the length for me; I'd really like it to reach my knees and it doesn't. I'm sure it's perfect on women a little shorter than myself. 2) There aren't any cuffs on the sleeves. Most parkas today have cuffs and they make a huge difference on really cold windy days. I understand that because this is 2-coats-in-one its a bit tricky, but I feel like for the price tag they could've found a way to make it work. And 3) I wish there was a fur collar (detachable or not) for the hood. The fur really helps keep the rain and snow out of your face, and again, just about every other parka in this price range and even lower, has it.

That being said, it's an amazing parka and I love that it keeps me warm and dry and still looking reasonably stylish. It's a bit pricy considering its flaws, but I guess that's the price I'm willing to pay to stay warm and not look like a marshmallow!

    Great city coat!

I got this coat for my wife for xmas and she has worn it almost everyday since. Its been particularly cold and nasty the last few weeks in Chicago (as in below 0F) and she says the coat keep her quite warm.

The fit is much more stylish than similar coats. She tried some canada goose down, marmot, patagonia and all the other long north face jackets and found this one the most flattering and best fit.

She is 5'10" 140lbs and went with the Small. She was between the medium and small and decide to go with fashion over function.

    More fashion than function

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

My quest for a fashionable and very warm winter coat sadly did not end with this one. It's cute, but far too narrow in the armpit area and did not seem like it could keep me warm through a winter of commuting by foot and train in Chicago. I'm 5'8" and 145 lbs, and neither the M or the L fit in the arm area. The last straw was the pockets - their placement is such that you can't comfortably put your hands in them. They were too much on the front of the coat and the openings were too horizontal to put hands in without having one's wrists bent at an odd angle. If I am going to drop this kind of money on a coat, I expect it to deliver much more than this. I sent it back. Still wearing my not-quite-as-cute but otherwise perfect LLBean's coat.

    have this in ivory/white

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

the jacket is pretty warm when i wore it around 5 -10 degrees . My only thing with this jacket is quite heavy to achieve the same warmth as the other regular down jackets. It feels heavy to hike with it.

Not a good fit for a petite

The coat fit will in the shoulders, but was far too long in the sleeves and was not a flattering fit. I'm guessing that this coat probably won't work for anyone under 5'5". (I am 5'2" and there was just no way.) Nice construction, fabric and materials and I think it would have performed well in wet and cold conditions; I'm sorry I have to return it.

I'm would like to know if the down filled liner can get wet. Can the down filled insulated liner be worn in the rain or snow?

Is there anyway that you sell the gray...

Is there anyway that you sell the gray lining with the black outer coat?
