Good alternative to a Down jacket.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs small

This is a close fitted jacket really build for climbers. The hood is a great doom shape for a helmet and I truly like the sleeve's length and thumb holes to cover most of the hand. After a few washes the stuffing does try to pop out, which is my only issue. Otherwise this is a smooth, warm and comfortable jacket. Its the Summit Series from The North Face so the fit is a half size to a size smaller then the normal TNF products.

Took Place of my Hoody

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I bought this jacket thinking it was going to be a great layering piece for cold days and good for touring in the spring time. Sure enough it was wonderful for both occasions but one thing shocked me a little. I noticed i had a hard time taking it off after, and it started being the comfy jacket i grab out of my closet.

Not so resistant

The jacket is warm and fits well. But, after just a few hours of use, some bristles begun to appear from inside to outside the jacket (I was carrying my camera... but the friction to the jacket is almost irrelevant). For the price, I think it shouldnt have happened.

    good midlayer

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I like this jacket for mild weather days, or as a midlayer when the weather really starts up.. the fit is great overall. a bit snug in the forearms but I like that, it keeps the jacket in place. monkey thumbs are nice as well as long as they are used over gloves...under gloves they bunch on the hand and feel uncomfortable

    Perfect lightweight jacket. ZephyrYES

I used this jacket climbing on the Diamond on Longs Peak quite a bit this year, and found it to be the perfect balance of weight to warmth for that application. I really like the hybrid technology of insulation in the body and fleece in the extremities.... I think this is a really well thought out jacket..... and it has a nice fitted stylish appeal as well.

Does anyone know the washing instructions for this jacket? I have one, but no tag to be found.

    Hey Dan,

Typically the rule of thumb for synthetic insulated jackets is to wash on cold and gentle settings (use soap designed for synthetic insulation). Then tumble dry on the lowest setting and check often to make sure the jacket is not overheating. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
